Better than the 'explosion' in using ' signs in 'news' titles as of 'late'
I have yet to get a gameplay crash - got 1.5k turns into my longest game (8 ai on tiny, many tense moments) aside from 1 alt-tab crash. I alt-tab often as well. The select thing I think I've gotten several times, the game has trouble updating selection at times (most noticeably when a new unit goes into a selected city. Need to reselect)
It makes you a stud.
8 AI on the smallest map on easy. I get lucky by having only 2 chokepoints between me and the mighty yellow empire. I close the left-most entrance as much as I can (to the point where I don't think AI would use it), and concentrate my meager defenses to the north. http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/5005/elemental20100829001739.jpg http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/9224/elemental20100829001729.jpg http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/2443/elemental2010082900171
Shame there isn't a thumbs down.
1. Is the game entertaining and fun? Absolutely, been having a blast. 2. Will it let me develop strategies to win or lose against the AI? Today or Tonight? Slowly learning the game, but I have gotten curbstomped several times by the AI. It will only get better. 3. Is the game polished and fixed enough to play decently? It feels very polished, and have yet to get a single crash. 4. There is no 4.
Biggest gameplay problems after many hours 1: The biggest, most baddest AI on an 8AI small map suicided at my door by sending in his king with pitiful backup. (on easy) 2: Magic doesn't feel terribly magic-y. I want giant spells that have a chance to backfire (rain fire across a wide area on the cloth map, but if I'm not strong enough the storm could go haywire and spawn above him instead). Or a spell that *could* double or even triple the output of a mine, y
Playing with 8 AI on a small map - several hundred turns in. I get lucky and manage to gather quite a few resources with the sea on one side, and the Yellow empire on the other. Another sign of good luck is a giant mountainpass that seperates us - literally 2 places to invade from (both which I have capped with a city wall). Yet yellow is a massive military might. I get messages as it conquers players 1 by 1, going stronger and stronger. It is probably 10x strong
yeah they should make it so you have to authenticate it online and can't play with cd to stop the pirates otherwhys theyre going to ruin the game
Quoting DrGuppie, reply 16 Quoting Raven X, reply 14 Quoting unacomn, reply 9I'm curious if whoever balanced the reproduction system was a Dragonball Z fan. Because in that context it would make perfect sense. LoL nice reference. Except then we'd have entire hours of her staring at her opponent And then even more hours of her "powering up" a spell to cast..
Just as I put down elemental for the first time today. Oh well, there's always loading it back up.
I got a single ctd - alt-tabing. Yet I alt-tab all the time, and it only crashed from it once. Whining on the forum doesn't help, sending the crash logs + specs does.
I voted disappointed. Not because of bugs, I haven't encountered any serious ones yet. Not because of the UI, even thoughit is a little rough in some places and needs some work, it is sufficient for now. Not because of the graphics or art style, I pretty much like it the way it is. Not because of the setting, I applaud Stardock for doing something different (I still would like some more different factions, but I'm sure mods and expansions wil
I can see why people do that, it's fun Can't wait for the patch,
I quoted it because I was joking. Trying to have the most anal, pessimistic view can be fun once in awhile.
More proof that Stardock released an unfinished game - if this was finished, than we wouldn't need patches or "improvements". I can see why people do that, it's fun :D Can't wait for the patch,
I haven't played for too long, but aside from a few graphical bugs I feel the game is extremely well done and very well polished.
I, too overlooked the individual difficulty settings for the enemy factions the first time I set up a game, but it's clear now. An idea: why not have an option where the difficulty setting enemy factions are picked by me, the player, but randomly spread over the factions. So for instance I could choose 5 enemy factions; two of which are on higher difficulty setting (thus probably stronger) than me, one on the same setting, and
I have to ask, how do retailers break the street date? Are they doing this just to be evil and ruin an indie developer or are these people just morons, or did you not spell it out in a contract? Can you sue these a holes? Something tells me that if anyone broke the street date of Starcraft 2, Blizzard would have made absolute mince meat out of the poor retailer like a zerg just going berserk on a cow just sitting there...[
Started game against 2 easy AI on small map after spending a few hours trying the game out. My first serious match (against easy). I began to build my city up, noticing a Fire stone along a border with one of the AI. I rush a pioneer out and build a settlement near it. At this point I have no war tec, and little tactical magic. 4 turns later he goes to war with me - of course I'm not ready for this. I build 3 measly peasents (galciv2
Having a ton of fun right now a few hours in (Time flew fast!). The criticism about it being hard to learn is true, I'm still learning a ton of new things and wondering how to do others.
That is nothing compared to how Kerberos Productions responded to the community when Fort Zombie was released. http://www.undeadgames.com/zombie-news/fort-zombie-why-you-shouldnt-waste-your-money/ They made worse ones as well. It's easy to go overboard online, especially when someone insults something you love.
Read the whole topic scott - you can enable custom maps.
Of course my copy will arrive tomorrow. The very day I begin school!
