Goodmoring all Civ 4 actualyl has a decent first draft of this system, when you go to relations, and trade it has a row for every AI, and in that row is a series of pictures of which techs they are willing to trade, and which they will accept. I would liek a system where the comp does the leg work for me. I got to the diplomacy system and say i need 15 dragon hearts, it then returns with bids from various AI's as to what they w

Goodmorning all, Hardlimiiting the number of units, or even the power of an army or stack seams to be a overly blunt way to achive the goal, to me. The goal is to make it so that smaller devers armies retain function, and that super huge stacks-o-death don't (or at least have limited funcitonality.) I think the gameplay mechanics should be such that the overhead of building those Stack-o-death's should make them undersirable, but not imporssible.<br /

I would like to see a trait/tallent for Wider / Narrower spell tree and tech trees. Open minded, or some such. Having more spells to choose from makes a late game and mid late game spell caster more versitle and also allows the possiblity of double buffing (stone skin, and wind armour deflecting arrows) nowwower could be a negative trait, or could be breadth vrs depth. Also something to deal with the abilities of the sove
It seems to me like this one is the hardest for long strategy games to do well in. Most of the games that I've played, the last 10-15 minutes are a foregone conclusion.
Last 15 miutes a forgone conclusion, I just finished a Galactic Civ where the last half the game was a forgon conclution, I can't think of many that past the 1/3rd mark there have been 'natural' changes of who's winning (not caused by game changing random event.)

When i think Soverin specliazation i ask Early - Mid - Late ? what bonuses can we give that come into effect in each time period. Early : All the ones mentioned by frogboy, except diplomacy and possibly fertility. also included any combat related skills. Midgame: If there is a population cap / city, before building XYZ , something that boosts that, Fertility, diplomacy, Spell casting range,

Goodmorning all sorry: re the long delay school and this post got eatted twice by the forum beast
That sounds ideal but difficult to implement. I would, admittedly, like some automation on some of the smaller tasks to running an empire. For example in Medieval II Total War I'd often forget to move m

Goodmorning all, I would throw my vote with the cross path synergies as well, but not to the exclution of cross path pre-requisits. Firstly the research tree is going to be semi-randomly generated, or parts of it will be randomly populated. Haveing semi-randomly generated pre-requisits is also an option which i would like to see considered. Also there can be 'any three of the 5' prerequisits that still force you to branch out, but don't restrict you to fo

Goodmorning all, If you could give addiquately detailed instructions, and see explicately in list form what your general is going to do to achive the goals you give them, AND be able to edit those goals and means to achive the goals. This wouldn't suck. if any of those steps are missing you're inevitably going to have 'The black AI box of damn why is it doing that!?!?!?' which all AI goveners in all games i've played so far suffer from. I actual

The gaussian is semetric... with equal probability of high and low rolls, so I really don't understand where you're getting the high change of exremely low damage from? The standard in these games is uniform from 0 to def or 0 to attack. Meaning that if your attack is 12 then on average you can expect about 6. but you have equal probabilty of getting 12, as you do of getting 0. (sometimes it's done as low - high so you have equal change of each value betwe

Perhaps roll a gaussian around attack and a gaussian around defence (gaussian being a bell curve which returns the mean more often then anything else, has a 66% chance to give somehting within +/- a predefined range.) if attack exceeds defence then you hit, then role another gaussian attack - defence for damage then you can have differnt weaponds have differnt responceses to hit and to damage, so maybe the to hit gets gausian *1.5, or best of two gaussi

I fully agree, Cross path synergies are a must for a good research model. The unrelentlingly linear techtree of GC is one of the primary reasons i can't play more then one game a year. I just can't bear to face the 'get tech one, get tech two, get tech three' redesign all my unit each time to take advantage of the infentesmicimal advantage between lazers 3 and lazers 4.... yuck. Ideally every tech should matter, and late techs should have dependencies outside thier str

Goodmorrning all: Regarding garrila and skrimish tactics, I am not a huge fan of the automated and AI controlled gurrila warfare and skirmish running, but i have given considerable thought to makign the game gurrilla warfair friendly. Combat Risk, https://forums.elementalgame.com/368771/page/2/#39 Elemental Armies 10-10000 https://forums.elementalgame.com/368984 When attacking a unit i implied that differnt types of

Goodmorning all, Regarding the unlocked abilities: I already posted a suggestion on how to incoperate this slightly under https://forums.elementalgame.com/367726 unit experiance idea In short the suggesion was that when you train a unit in an ability it can only be used under ideal conditions, (fields, defending, first rounds of battle, ~100% unit strenght...) As the unit levels up as a unit they begin to be able to apply the skill/ability

I think the traits Guppie32 's refering to are profile traits carried over from game to game. So you might have multiple profiles (think diablo 2, you have a mage, an amizon, a barbarian) and when you play under a profile you can unlock abilities for that profile like "When a unit you control kills thier 20th kill they g

Goodmorning, Assuming very high level scouting I would have the small card have "We consider this army to be a _____" threat, nusance, joke "It is consistent of mostly ______ and ______, It also contains _______" Last one is a string for strongest hero or other unit "Overall we feal that ______ against this force has a ____% of success" (first blank chooseable: A raid, full on attack, stealth opperation.) (Optional)"We would expect ______ casu

Goodmorning, Myself i would prefer to pop up a small interface, with 2 - 5 numbers / statements and have an option to open the larger card. Always having a large card jump up everytime my mouse passes over the army would get annoying quick. A small window with enough infromation in it to decide attack, run, or open the big card, would be preferable. Robbie.

Goodmorning all, I was thinking more for on the world map, army vrs army. that's where you would really need the report. In battle if i remember correctly the idea is that you let the battle run as simmulation, real time so all units move at once, and occationally you hit pause, stopping the game so you can enter orders or change of plans. If one wanted to impliment a guestmation at that level the easiest thing to do would be colour the attack p

Goodmorning all, One thing i would REALLY like to see for fog-of war would be semi-fog. what do i mean? Rumers, things seen at great distances. People are immigrating to your towns, they are arriving from somewhere, nomads, sons and daughters of nomads, But the thing about nomads is they know the land, they tell stories of the landscape and can direct you, more or less, to places of interest just by the oral tradion of stories passed down of tra

Joasoze: Who said anything about decided in advance?? Now some battles are decided in advance "Dragon of curbstomp"vr 'leper with one arm and a pointed stick'. That's a pritty one sided battle regardless of weather the comp tells you about it or not. unless somebody decided to name thier dragon 'leper with one arm and a pointed stick' in which case if you own the Dragon of Curbstomp it might be nice to be warned that the name is deciving because

Goodmorning all landisaurus: Ya, I just juged my scale by 10,000's being the top top top end. remembered from one frogboy post somewhere. weather it's 10,000, or 50,0000 . . . just move the starting and stopping places of the highest levels. and ya, you'd have probably 5 controlable foot soldier units, 6 or 7 units of archers, Three units of light calvary, ... the 5 mages might be all in the tent, or have seperate tents, depending if range and line of

Goodmorning all, a thought, While battle winning spells will exist, the vast majority of spells will be considerably less powerful. Those stat breaking spells will be and are ment to be just that Stat Breaking spells. But they will be super expencive, have to be prepared in advance(except in VERY VERY endgame sanarios). Most of the times, and in most of the battles the spells will be on the order of HOMM, or AOW/MOM. What i mean to say
