So was doing some thinking on the factions problem; mainly that there are not really any factions, just one standard and with different makeup. Each faction needs to be different enough that you HAVE to play differently when playing them So, Some suggested changes. One, Make all units gain experience passively, 1 per turn. Except. One faction that gains 2 passive experience, and one that gains none. TOTALLY differen

Um . . . I could not find a contact us, or CS email. I was wondering if the game aught to have arrived yet. the street date was Tuesday, today is Saturday. I would have expected my LE box . . . but it does not seam to have arrived. Anybody know whom I aught inform about this, or if it is perfectly normal and more patience would suit me better? Thanks Guys Robbie Price

Also how is this fundamentally different from the manna the game already has. It costs food and guilder to make . . . and is decoupled from the sov. Another option would be they act as 1 time use shards. They are made slowly, but you can choose to use 1 or more when casting a spell, for the boost. But then do you put a limit on how many you can carry, then you're just jumping back home to recharge. . . The mechanic

Good news, or half good news, Apparently for magic at least they are seriously considering that 1DN is bad. see the recent post https://forums.elementalgame.com/393532 now they just have to do Attack, Def, and anyplace else they've hidden 1DN (including in GC, but that's a different story.) Partial Victory Robbie Price.

Goodmorning all
I guess I'd just like to impress on the posters here that just because technique A works well early on doesn't mean it must or even should work well later. Magic stays very, very powerful throughout the game, so long as you're willing to adapt your playstyle to use it. If you're unwilling to adapt a strategy to a different puzzle, you shouldn't be too surprised if it's demonstrably less efficacious.
<

Goodmorning all
Was this ever changed in GalCiv2? I'd bet it's a design choice rather than laziness or 'efficiency'.
It wasn't changed in GC2, But it was never defended as logical there either. In fact i can't think of any situation where anybody has stated something resembling a reason why 1DN rolls are better beyond 'Gaussians are hard (to understand/to implement/both)'. Neither of

Goodmorning all I would like to see the exchange of pleasantries, and perhaps news ... the NPC's only exists to be bought or married right now. These units aught me marching the length and breadth of the land, some refusing to work with anybody, but just talking, trading, getting on with their lives. Some of them don't care for politics, but perhaps they have a map to buy, or a story to tell, but if you get a story off them, you know they get a

A lot of games use 1DN rolls, they are quick, easy to implement, and WRONG. Anybody played . . . any tabletop game, or sit down D&D ever, how many dice did you bring to the table . . . I'm going to guess more then 1. (like a small bag of them). Just one action on a tabletop game will take upwards of 5 dice easy. Why? Because multiple dice = somewhat predictable behavior. You're standard 1DN takes 2 operations, + R

Are you implying that one would build up a 'upgrades capital' that you would 'spend' at the shop in place of money. Rather then spending 100gilder for a sword for your hero, you would spend 100guilders worth of build up upgrades capital which was leftover from not building stuff in your towns at various times in history. You could still spend gold of course but this would build up as an alternative. Just thinking aloud.

Goodmorning all The Easiest quick fix i can think of is allow units to have up to 1.5 times their AP. IE if you don't use ALL your AP, the decimal part carries over to next turn. so having 2.1 AP max, means you can use a double attack every 10 turns. as long as casting never costs more then 3 you can always cast ( move 1 ap, turn one, wait turn 2, cast turn 3, repeat).

one major problem with spells, for me, is damage is based on 1 D20. then on 2 * 1 D20. if you have a shard. Rather, I would want it to have 5D4 (still max 20, but the average damage is now 12.5 and the damage will almost always be 9.5 and 15.5), only in incredibly lucky or unlucky hits would the damage stray to 5 or 20. When you get a shard 10D4, 2 shards 15D4. If that's too long then have the program build an

Goodmorning all, Interesting to note, that one of the key defining ideas of the Renaissance in Europe was the idea that there new stuff to be learned. Prior to the Renaissance nearly all research was reading and translating old manuscripts, relearning how to do once known things. The cultural discovery that they existed things to know which were not known . . . was new. This however is a completely different, and much slower, form of research. and would alm

In a campaign it's simple to come up with a scripted event, where it behaves like a round table, but is actually a choose your adventure storybook. Choose to say any one of the following 6 choices, then and one of the following 3. Making something dynamic that the AI doesn't suck at.... would be a challenge. What 'Hooks' into the AI will we have, or do we have?

I was thinking kindof the same thing. In SMAC the leader of the council can call a meeting and choose the topic of the meeting from a list of possible topics. However the list of avalible topics was ... poor ... at best. GC had a good list of fun topics, but as you said, they are randomly picked from and never timely. I would suggest that the council would meet once or twice to pick the question or questions to be decided on in the final or final 2

Goodmorning all, I've been replaying GC, SMAC recently and been thinking. There is one thing i would like to see, genuine multi-party diplomacy. SMAC has a planetary council, which at least you can request people vote the way you want them to. and GC has the galactic council, which is both more powerful in terms of what it can do, and more of a joke it terms of diplomacy. I would really like to see a system where the council is

Goodmorning all, I don't know if this exists, (i pre-purchase the game, but it never ran on my comp so i gave up on being in the Beta) , but I think it would be nice to have tabs on your spell book. HOMM had 5 ways to look at your spells, 'all' 'fire' 'water' . . . This would be good first step, If you the spell you want is earth you open the earth tab and have max 1 page to turn (Max 2 clicks) rather then hunting thought the ~6 pages to find the spell (Max

Goodmorning all, I really like this idea, My only request is that the quests generated in this way come with triggers, IE nobody's going to get the 'kill some Kraxis' quest unless the Kraxis actually did some thing. Possibly when taking an action like razing a city you might get a warning. This will do bad stuff, and if the refugees escape they might seek revenge. . . .

Goodmorning All, Regarding Winner Takes All: the proposed system does not allow for many tactically important options. Garrilla warfare.: for example were 100 units take on 10,000 over 25 game turns by hitting supply lines, or pegging off 10 -20 troops with archery then 'vanishing'. Reinforcements: My front line comes under attack, but my backup is 4 turns away from the castle that is being seiged. . . . If the defending

Goodmoring all, I think whole sale tech trading is a little silly. and full tech stealing is just a joke. Most of 'technology' is engerneering, having the right tools, to build the better tools, to build the tools you need to use the tech. Even if you steal the blueprints for something it'll still have 'use a XYZ here and a FDG here, and you can replace TES with GDWC if you don't have one'... I think tech trading/stealing

Goodmoring,
I agree with you on most posts, but not on this one. If you hand a green soldier a flaming sword, they aren't going to understand that the heat generated by the sword allows them opportunistic blows on otherwise sturdy joints in the armor, or the ability to melt and smash a faceplate in a helmet. Likewise, a veteran soldier would understand the subtle unpredictabilities of how opponent moves in battle and how to better deliver those blows with a special weapon

Goodmorning all, I would like to suggest that rather then being able to use differnt equipment, that higher level units can use trained abilities better. There is no really good reason why somebody should not be able to use a +5 sword, we're trained to accept this by Diablo and Ilk, but really, a good sword is Easer to use then a poor quality one. so if anything, leveling up would allow one to use poorer equipment... However leveling up Do

Having many ways to sort and organize saved games would be good. so sort by name sort by date, sort by race/faction. Have one of them be 'standard' then have all the others be tabs to see the save files in a new way, Also add filters, "Only multi-player games, only campaign games, only long games'... those who want to use them will love you forever, those who don't won't care that they are there. Having all that information in the Save Game Name however.... that's a LOT to r

Goodmorning all, One thing of interest in the Quest dsicussion two, is that all the quests are for one faction alone. It would be nice to have some global quests. Quests that multiple or all factions are given all at once. This would premit factions to eather directly compete to complete the quest first, or work co-operitivly. Idealy these quests would be important enought to warrent a place in the diplomacy UI. Things like &nbs
