i can't imagine NOT using econ starbases, I'm curentlyu playing as the Korx just for the trade bonmus. I'm making something like 580 bc per week. and wirth Galactic Priveteer, they are all safe. I've never flooded the area with them but i have had two very close with overlapping areas of effectiveness. To CPike, remeber that to get the most out of them you need to add the +10%, +20+ and +30% modules. i think its better to load up one starbase than have 2 basic ones. Besides, when war breaks out
CaptainYar
i thought we were talking about toast.
I read in a book once, where a ship used bad news as a means of travel. It worked on the principal that bad news travels fast, and only bad news was faster than the speed of light. It was the same story that had the Resturant at the End of the Universe. So it must be true. no need for engines then. THATS how this game works. Or maybe we just get a free +1 speeed oit board engine just for being good customers to the ship builders. I think each bank we build should give us a toaster, a
What was this thread about again? God? no wait, wasting my time. Video game s CAN be a bad thing, but the same logic used to discredit them can be used for any activity. My wife thinks they're just for kids, but she can stand to watch Donal Trump fire someone. i think THATS a waste of time. But we each find some enjoyment in out free time activities, so its really not a "waste". At my age i feel i'm allowed to be antisocial for a few hours here and there. As a side note, to jump on th
Well more HP is good. So how will i know when I've "leveled up"? At what experience does this happen? At 50, 100, 1000? i olny have like 27 i think but its not that big of a map.
very good reading.
Does having a high diplomacy level help your relations with other civs? Other than helping get better trades, what exactly does more diplomacy do? Also, I've wanted to get one race to go to war with another, but on the trade screen when i click on "attack" that other race's name does not appear at all. So how do i get them to decalre war?
I will agree wity Masteroldschool on the point that you DO need to be a dominant military power to win any victory condition. Not that you need to go to war, but that strong military will help keep the warmogers away and keep the friendlies as allies. I'm playing as the Korx because i just wanted to be a trader, like Lord Anger above, figuring I'd eventuall get an alliance or influence victory. But war was declared on me, i had no military, but i did have the techs and the cash. Alas, the Drengi
Thats Ok i can deal with the re-runs. They're still funny rereading them.
how good is a ships experience to have? i mean does it really make a difference? also, what is considered "good" i have a ship that has 27. does this mean i can expect it to beat a superior opponent? The games been pretty peaceful so far so i havent been able to get more experience. Does upgrading the ship lose its experience?
You should look at the relationship screen for each race and see where your pluses and minuses are. Theres really nothing you can do abut the negetives for "close borders" but like nullspace just said, #1 get trade routes. So to answer your question, NO, there is no flaw in this game that cauises that. its things you need to learn to prevent the wars. of course some will still happen but you can keep them to a minimum and exterminate the real bad warmongers. Now heres my own q
Someone is taking these posts even more seriously than the game. Thank you for the in-depth explanation Ptarth. I was in reality just trying to be silly. but you gave my answer some credibility. Throw in Newton's law of universal gravitation and we got a winner. NASA shall hear of THIS!!! to answer the actual posted question, extra speed can be very important, it not only gets things done faster but can mean the difference between winning or losing a war. getting your ships wh
Yes. Where there's downhill, there's also uphill. Not in space. its all down hill, both ways all the time. No it isn't. It was mentioned above, you can have defensive "drones" with no engines, and therefore with more space for weapons and/or defenses. and how will these drone move without any engine at all. Zero speed is zero speed. Sure in the battle sceen yopu'd see them move but that would be
Interesting. And how did the AI deal with it? Were they smart enough to build ships with engines or did they end up with tons of them in orbit? I bet they made a bunch of ships that couldn't move.
Just use your imaginations and all the little illogicalities and issues will just disappear. I mean come up with your own explanations for the +1 speed and the population type questions and go with it. I said that we get the +1 without engines because outer space is slanted downhill. Rediculous? YES! Does it matter? So how about if we get zero speed and we have to add a +1 engine to it and then all hulls have more space for this added to their size? will that make everyone happy? the en
OH cool i think i could do that. too funny
I like it too, I'll be checking back all the time.
Well space goes downhill so you get a base speed of 1. Actually instead of thinking the ship has having no engine just consider that you are getting a free one, like impulse drive or simple thrusters. When you research certain milestone techs, like warpdrive, you get an additional +1 to your base speed and a military starbase can be fitted with another +1 module. But to move around at all you ships will need so sort of engine. Unless you intend to keep them in orbit to prtect
I made my colors purple but now i look exactly like the Yor. Oh well guess i gotta just get rid of them...
And someone is supposed to care about this because...? Yes, there is a need for it. It is a part of our language. It is much worse to use *@#$! and such instead of just using the word in its correct grammatical context/spelling. But I see that someone left the back door open today and the Inspector General of Verbage strolled in to grace us... oh joy! This is the best stuff you have to gripe about huh? And someone is supposed to care about TH
Thank You. I just tried it with this screen, that is So cool.
i'd vote for barbed wire instaed... A LOT of barbed wire
Well, then you just build mine sweepers. I can just see the next guy on this post saying,,, we can have mine fields type II, that are undetectable. Then we can get mine resistant hulls or special modules. The arms race goes on and on.
I can not imagine only colonizing PQ-12's. I think I'd wind up with one planet if I was lucky. Like you, I dont get many above 8 or 9. I once had an ajacent ememy with a planet that became a 41 (thats forty-one) after all the planetary improvements. I took it from him. A rule of thumb might be to leave the PQ 4-5 alone until theres nothing left but you have to take those 6 and above, thats the majority of the planets in the game. You may not find anything above a 9 or 10 or even an 8. T
Can someone please tell me how I would go about getting a screen shot while I'm playing the game. Like if i wanted a freeze frame during a battle, a close up of one of my ships or just a picture of a part of the galaxy. After reading the game examples from some of the devs i was inspired and thought i could maybe make an interesting short about a game i'm playing.
