The more I play games, the more I think music and sound are the most important part for immersion in a game. Even before visuals. Will there be "contextual" sounds and music ? Like you have lost a huge battle and your ennemies start taking your cities oe after another and the music score change for a dark composition.
Well music is not important in the game because after all I can ply my own but unit and backround

This is the worst game I've ever Pla.....Oh wait wrong forum :) You guys are doing the right thing. Every game developer should be doing this. So please tell your marketing department to shut thier pie-holes and stay out of the development of the game before they ruin it as have happened with other game companies. If this game is anything like GALCIV 2 or AGE of Wonders/ MOM then it will be great just as log as you keep the non-gamers (marketing) out of it. Perhaps make them ser

How about Epic quest like, A mysterious portal has opened up in your kingdom and either a mysterious gas/fog is coming from it that affects the land around it or dangerous creatures are coming out of the gate creating havoc with the peacful country side etc. And you have to send in a party to invistigate. And of coarse there could be all sorts of baddness on the other side (can be really creative on this.) Maybe the heros discover that there is a possable invasion about to happen through the

I do. As do I. In some games (like Age of Wonders) the campaign is much more challenging and fun then regular scenarios since in the campaign the developers made sure to put hard challenges on the hardest difficulty while the regular scenarios may or may not be challenging. However, the campaign is only good for 2 playthoughs if there's no alternative paths and such.

Cities should produc
Cities should produce citizens of the race that inhabits them. But if there are many races and you must design your own units, then you have to design one more unit per race you conquered. Which means more work and micromanagement, as you have to design units yourself. So it would probably be best to reduce the number of races to a minimum. The most fun that my frinds and I have had in that game was playing with and agienst the custom races.

Maybe it would be better to work on improving the premade factions so that people choose them thinking "wow, a slave master draconian blood spitting faction, how cool !" ? In Gal Civ 2 i loved to play the pre made factions/races, because, well, destroying the galaxy with your drengin psychotic furred

Go back and count all the replies to this thread alone and you'll see it's more like 50-50 at this point. Aside from that I agree mostly with what you say. I still want some customization though.
I think customization is important, but not on the art side. It's stats and abilities that are important to customize. I don't care if my custom faction has blue armor or red, I care if they have +1 attack or +5. In GC2 I've spent about 2 hours building cool little ships and 200 hours playing through races with different customized stats. Customizable art assets are cool but don't necessarily add longevity. So for the art/l

Some customization is ok but the emphasis should be on having solid pre-developed races that players are encouraged to play. One of my minor pet peeves with Stardock games is the multitude of options you have when you start a game;

I agree that customization is more important than story for this game. I am looking for a game to replace Age of Wonders Shadow Magic. Played that game for years and customized many maps, units, Etc. But was not able to create new races which I would have love to do like I can with Galactic Civ 2. I am hoping that this game will make customization easy and fun without having to go to a bunch of sites to look up how to mod the game. Personally I could care less about the lo
That all sounds good, But, (granted this probably isn't likely) what if Elemental is huge flopping failure and doesn't sell well? What would be the draw of buying or making expansions? I'd rather them add as much as they can to the base game and then Expand the Storyline in Expansions. To me a "Expansion" should continue the storyline. If the Expansion Pack for Dragon Age hadn't continued the story I doubt I would have

I'm for more races and the ability to create our own races. More customization across the board should be one of the most important elements to keep in mind. A game without or very little customization grows stale quickly
