Second the demand for bear cavalry... I mean... Seriously, even if it's just in a mod. Bear -cavalry-.

Please let it be good. Looking forward to it... [e digicons][/e]

I only have a couple things to say on this, besides the obvious welcome back: Where the minor factions are concerned, please, please don't make them into competitors. They may be right out of GalCiv, but they're an interesting feature. I'd recommend adding in mystical or martial Guardian units (this would help establish why none of the Kingdoms/Empires have just taken their stuff anyway) of significant power to discourage their early abuse, change the art style a t

In response to reply #49, and the suggestion of autobuilding from certain points... I think you might want to go with it. Autoselect option for techs, and make some dropdowns for the significant options (good/evil, terrain type generated by control zones [James009D brought this up too. I think the consensus is that the idea of spreading an endless desert or eternal winter over the land is just as cool as the conventional options]). I think I can speak fo

Keep it up, Murt. Race creation still isn't part of the overall faction creator. Easy in xml, I suppose, but some of us... Like myself... [e digicons][/e] Are happier to do things with dropdown menus and stuff for that sort of editing. Trust me, designing UI alternatives is a good thing for the more casual set.

I'd like to add that modding in the ability for the imp to wear leather armor would either be really funny or really twisted... Possibly both.

I know this brings your Sovereign into combat, but my suggestion is to bring them along with a group of adventurers/army exploring the wastes. Even if it's only for a few goodie huts/quests/encounters, you'll probably hit 3 or 4 without having to have your mighty leader stoop to actual combat. If you need essence, there're researchable ways to improve it, and of course the elemental shards... There might be a trick with Imbue Champion/Create Spellcaster by which one can send

This is an odd problem to report, I guess... And I don't want to give the impression I'm ungrateful for the return of the faction editor (in fact, I'm ecstatic about it [e digicons]5*[/e] [e digicons]:D[/e] [e digicons]5*[/e] ), but there's one odd little issue: the Trogs have been renamed as 'Raedemaeans' in the editor (a name for a custom race I cobbled together early in the beta, and still use for one of my Sovereigns). Is there some way I can reinstate the Trogs to their ri

...Definitely over 9,000... Honestly, not sure what to tell you. Was there any equipment available to provide that kind of bonus? Possibly a stackable item? Looks like a glitch from here.

You rule, Murteas. Seriously, my gratitude is boundless. Thanks for putting in so much effort for the player community. Much as I love the devs for their hard work, I really, really don't care for text editing. I've done some 5th gen programming, and it pains me a great deal. I don't know what to think about the devs' decision on this, but your decision to put together a user friendly editor on your own, despite the complexity, makes me wonder... Anyway, thanks, and good luck.

From what I've seen of the tile editor/xml crossover interface, I get the feeling faction creation is going to be nudged into that nebulous area between user toolsets and outright modding. And, yes, I know xml is a relatively uncomplicated form of data management. That doesn't make the pretense of customization for the user off the street any less of an exagerration at this rate, though. Anyone remember the Warcraft 3 map editor? Surprisingly uncomplicated data management,

So, does this mean there won't be a more user friendly form of custom faction creation for the final game? Or am I reading too much into it? I'm fine with editing XML, but... It lacks panache. One of my favorite parts of GalCiv 2 was imagining new alien species and running them through the creator to see how they'd pan out... Any feedback would be much appreciated on this.

I have a couple suggestions, though the abundance is already pretty high. Heart's Fire - Cast a tactical spell from hitpoints instead of essence and ensure max damage, might qualify as more of a spell you'd prepare as an enchantment pre-battle... Mob/Pack Mentality - Units gain increased attack in parties, and in groups of individuals of 3+ Fanaticism - Never panics, 1.5x normal morale bonus, can't retreat Ritualist - Can combine Essence rat
It's been moved to the workshop (i.e. modding area). We don't know precisely how it is going to work, but rest assured, you will all be able to fall to my mighty smurfs of doom.
Many thanks. I'll be sure to prepare some interesting welcoming devices for your frogs. On a completely unrelated side note, do dogs eat frog meat? [e digicons]O:)[/e] Seriously, though, thanks. That was my big worry.

This doesn't have anything to do with the ongoing debate, but I wanted to bring it up regardless: I'm kind of concerned that the create-a-faction option is still missing from the next build... Much as the premade ones are rich in history and everything, I'd kind of rather stomp them into the ground or ally with them than lead them. Too much me

This stuff may have been mentioned already, I'm only halfway or 2/3rds through the reply list (lazy), but I'd posit that an incentive for housing (and improving housing) could be more directly linking taxation and population. RE: Spitz, really has his noggin going with the soft cap idea. Brings some needed dramatis persona to the cities themselves. I could come up with a few reasons offhand why building bigger isn't always better in a world like Elemental... For on

I have to agree with the OP; The random name generator is great, don't get us wrong, but sometimes, it produces mashups of syllables that are at best amusing and obscene and at worst Lovecraftian. Further, I'm inclined to agree with Ziktur and Dakhar. Implementing the 'name things what you want' idea from GalCiv would make a great deal of sense, as one is playing a God-Emperor sort of character, and if the mage/priest/king guy says "You shall rename tha

I miss the intriguing nature of games like Syndicate, and Dungeon Keeper... Bullfrog at their best... And the incredible settings of games like Fallout and Arcanum. Then there's all the Maxis classics that have gone the way of the dinosaur... SimEarth... Ah, but I miss when cockroaches ruled the earth. I think I have to second you on this one... PC gaming seems like it's slowly giving up the ghost.
