My motherboard is the ECS NFORCE4M-A v3.0, socket AM2, with a maximum RAM capacity of 32 GB DDR2 800. It is a workstation board. FDD, 4 PATA devices, and 4 SATA150 hdds. I doubt that I will ever see 8 GB DDR2 modules, although I can dream and drool.

Back when I was making my choices for this computer, I chose an acer X222W 22 inch Widscreen DVI flatpanel.
Beware of buying XP on eBay, as 60 percent are pirated. You also have to beware of buying Adobe Photoshop there as well, for the same reason. If you need OpenGL, go with nVidia since they have complete support for it. I use XP Pro 64 due to needing it for Vue 6.5 Infinite 64 bit and the lack of RAM constraints in 64 bit apps. In order to make better RAM use, you do need more than 4 GB installed.
I got my main system out its perpetual work in progress status several months ago. Where possible is a key phrase. This last upgrade forced me to go PCI-e and DDR2. HDDs, optical drives, case, and FDD are the usual carry over parts, along with keyboard and mouse. The only upgrade I plan to do to this one, is to go from 4 GB to 8 GB RAM - primarily for Vue 6.5 Infinite 64 bit.
My usual upgrade path has been only the parts needed, and everything I already had that I could use, would be used. This minimizes costs.
Yeah, BUT, they made the size of the Impactor in the animation way too big, for which I commented the way I did.
I am more worried about Yellowstone and Long Valley Supervolcanoes than WW3. Even the volcanologists are worried. Yellowstone has a 2 lobe magma chamber, and the small one is right under the Norris Geyser Basin. The big one sits under the Caldera (30 miles x 50 miles), and is closer to he surface.
I watched that as a kid (born in 1956), and still have that plastic model. Once I even took apart one of those stick in the ground reflector things (red), and glued one to the bottom of the model. As to why SciFi series don't last long on Network TV (NBC, ABC, CBS): They have this extreme dislike of anything SciFi, and a tendency to schedule them right after Golf or other sports programming, so they get run over by sports. Rating drop (deliberate) and show is cancelled. No matt
AMD Atlon 64 4000+ Nvidia 7800 GTX 2 MB Ram Win XP service pack 2 I am surprised anything runs with that amount of ram..... Shouldn't that be GB instead of MB? How much else is running and eating memory?
In stories, these sorts of things are story or plot devices. In Fiction, no concept of how they work is wrong.
Even if you don't overclock, better cpu cooling than the stock HS/fan is advised. Especially when you use Compute intensive software, like 3D CGI. When rendering a scene, the render engines will max out cpu usage, even on multi processor/core systems. Many things will slow down the rendering by increasing the computing need. Not so bad for a single frame. However, animation is 30 frames per second, and each frame has to be rendered. Most hobbyists don't have render farms, so th
Edward E. "Doc" Smith, Ph.D.: Lensman Series and Skylark Series. It took me 20 years to find the last of the Skylark series. Then I got the SFBC Omnibus edition with all 4 in one volume. Lensman Omnibus is in 2 omnibus volumes. There is an Anime movie "Lensman" which is in principle based on the books. However, it STINKS!!! I have some other books by Smith, though he is best known for Lensman and Skylark. Pern series, Crystal Singer series, Talent series, Darkover series. Secto
Overclocking shortens the life of your system, and should void the Warranty. Is that RAM ECC Registered, cause that is a server/workstation processor. I build my own systems to avoid OEM junk. I get the best I can afford for my purposes, which is 3D Computer Generated Imagery (CGI). Gaming is secondary. I use a lesser card than you do (7600GS dual DVI). However, it is fine for my needs, as is everything else: Athlon 64 X2 5200+ dual 1 MB L2 cache @ 2.613 Ghz per core, 4 GB DDR2
It really depends on what you want to do with the computer, other than games, and how many threads those applications support. Think of a thread as a Core. I went with an Athlon 64 X2 5200+ 2X 1MB L2 cache processor, for the reason that I already had a motherboard for socket AM2. Had I not had a motherboard in stock, I would have gone with a Core2Quad. My thing is 3D Computer Generated Imagery (CGI). This requires a massive amount of number crunching, and the apps I use support 2 or mor
The DA game I just started has a Precursor Mine (700%) + 300% Manufacturing bonus + 100% Manufacturing bonus on my Homeworld (Earth). Huge Galaxy, loose clusters, everything else is abundant. Version 1.61.
An object that size would break the planet apart, and it is moving way too slowly in the video! They always forget about the quakes induced by the impact (figure Richter Magnitude 15+). An object that size and mass would penetrate to the Core. Oh, the language is definitely Japanese. Oh, those shake tables that are used for earthquake engineering only move in 2 directions, and always lack the Vertical component of earthquakes.
For those interested in Doing Anime (2D Vector drawing): http://www.e-frontier.com/go/animestudio_hpl You can also use Poser 7 for 3D (same company). Anime is a specific style of animation.

I edit the shortcut with Launch.exe, by selecting the filename before the .exe and typing the required one. Then I add a space and cheat (lowercase). It works for me. I haven't tried making a new shortcut.
Galciv 2 uses Activation. The problem with Used copies, is that they are registered to the ones who first Registered/activated them. I bought GC2:DL download only, then DA download only, then the Gold Edition boxed from Newegg. The download is on XP Pro 32 bit, and the Gold Boxed is on XP Pro 64 bit. I did not have to buy Gold Edition, but I chose to support Stardock this way.
That is the native resolution of my 22 inch widescreen monitor. I run GC2:DL/DA at 1600 x 900 Windowed (not fullscreen) with no problems.
I installed beta5 in XP Pro 32 bit, and the graphics weirdness is totally gone. I will go ahead and update my XP 64 installation of this to beta5 after copying some files for backup.
Dread Lords is finicky about such XML mods, while Dark Avatar is much less so. DL will reset things.
I keep 98se and 2K around, on my backup PC, though GC2 is not really for that PC. It is for my older games, including some for MS-DOS. Otherwise, I am using XP Pro SP2 Retail, and XP Pro 64 OEM, with SP2 installed on my main PC (dualboot).
I started with a TRS-80 PC-1 Pocket Computer, then graduated to the Model 100. My first MS-DOS computer was the Tandy 200 dual floppy (80186 at 8 Mhz, and 16 bit). My first PC compatible was the Tandy 1400LT dual fdd laptop, then I had the hdd version of that. I accidentally won Pool of Radiance on the 1400HD. I remember playing the original Shareware DOS DOOM on my 386DX/40, with barely enough RAM to run it (5 MB). I sold that box and did not have a computer for several years, until 1998 when I
