Tea? Skyrim has no tea! Make sure the beta is ready when I am done with Skyrim. It is important, I need my gaming fix! Single player. Offline. And HUGELY addicting. Make me forget time again, so I look at the clock , think "Owwww crap, its 3 AM, and my 1 year old will bounce out of her bed in 3 hours... ah just one more turn..." You know you want to. Seriously, I can't wait. If you get vindication, we get a great game. A win-win for both of us.<
What is being referred to as game rules I call game mechanics. As long as those mechanics are intuitive and FUN I'm all for it. And what is fun on paper is often not fun in "real life". The objective for Fallen Enchantress's tactical battles is for them to be relatively short but still very intense. The problem *I* had with War of Magic's tactical battles was that they were a) boring and the
If this would happen, and the Fallen Enchantress tripped before she could start the fight and got eaten by the Bug-o-monster, I'd... well... Skyrim. Yes. Skyrim. Kill dragons... now THAT's adventure!
It is exactly those abilities, and the ability to use those abilities by the AI, which can make tacticla battles be a real battle and not just a HP-grind. Curses are a good idea... who does not remember Black Prayer, Wrack and Terror with love? Ah, the fun I had. /signed!
Hope this helps.
It does. It sounds like the classical IT problem with so many prjects: Too many hats, too little time. I keep hitting my boss with that ( its part of my job as a lead engineer to do that)... ;) I really really really hope you make it with FE. Nothing would please me more than to see a true classic come forth. Good luck!
Riight... I'll give this a go, see where we end up. Wish me luck!
http://www.rpgcodex.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=53975 Please go vote and show this guy and some others that GC2 is the best 4x out there next to MOO2. I like how he tried to sneak his poll in on a less traveled place but I found him out. Now go vote in droves and show him he's a faggot. lol
No. Not with that kind of language.
Black Prayer, Wrack, Terror... and then you just stand there and watch. Two heros with Earth/Air elemental X4 on their wands... all you need to kill anything. Flame Strike... and then mop up with lame archers. High Prayer coupled with some nice hero bonusses... Unfortunately, there was no real balance. Wraithformed Paladins... --> win. Chaoschanneled Berserkers --> win. And in version 1.0, death channeled adamantium Warlocks --> win. All those spells c
Raise volcano? Please? Prettyplease? edit: Curgen's Inferno... gotcha! *KABOOM*
You sir, rock! Especially the Polar Bear!
To be honest, I think that refinements, as in crafting, because that's what you are really getting at, don't belong in a 4X. Yes, maybe, just maybe, a bit for something really special. But a true crating system? Even with the RPG-elements in it, it would not be what we are after. If I wanted to chain resources, I'd be playing the settles. I want to blast mine enemies with spells, walk over their lands with my well-armored foot-soldiers, and wreck havoc on their armies with my dragons, drakes,
Cooosmetics! All my soldiers look the same, it would be nice to have a second layer of clothing over the first so to speak so you can first outfit them, and then modify their look. I'd suggest hand weapons and shields are WYSIWYG. Maybe different shield skins? Armor skins? Stuff like that is sooo cool. Customization is the keyword here.
I dig unit degisn, but the options are too limited. You can't really add special moves to a unit, and the weapons and mounts are too basic. Ideas (some are from MoM, but hey, they did that very well): * Mount + Shortbow = mounted archer, give +1 to hit because of extra high * Mount + Spear = cavalry, +2 damage if they moved a square before attacking (i.e. charge) * Spear = first strike against mounted units *Sword and large shield = -1 to hit penalty for missil
sure sounds like fun i cant wait!

I bought this game a year ago, and despite the launch-messyness I am not regretting it yet. You guys are putting in a lot of effort! Thanks! If you bought it year ago, you should know that there are going to be two free expansion packs for you
*
1.1 sounds, like many others have said, like a complete new experience. Can't wait :-) The Free Expansion... this is the first time I am reading about it, and as such... O_o I bought this game a year ago, and despite the launch-messyness I am not regretting it yet. You guys are putting in a lot of effort! Thanks!
*looks around a bit shamefaced* Ok, so quick question: How do I move the view in the tile-editor, and how can I zoom in/out, and how can I stack objects on top of each other? I'd like to make a load of city improvements on friday when I have the day off, but I don't know how just yet. I'm not too worried about the XML-file editing being a software programmer and all, but the GIU, at present, defeats me. Regards, Barry edit: No, wait, nevertmind, just igno
Uhm, so my Haste spell, cast in battle nr 1, carried over to battle 2, where it shut down on turn 2. Appearently the duration wasnt up in battle number 1. Yatta!
yes, but its really annoying, every single time archers are added, as well as a unit with a mace. So its still a "bug", or a feature not working as intended at all.
Oddly enough, my Dragon Roost was located in the sphere of influence of city A and got attached to city B, which was further away. City A didnt have any specials (I didnt bother with anything apart from the Dragon Roost. Might get Drath, but my army does NOT include eight-legged freaks. )
What rig are you using? I dont seem to have that many problems... apart from a few general ingame bugs, my memory usage and stability are ok, had one crash in eight or nine hours of gameplay.
Tsk tsk. No mention of free cookies anywhere! Such nonsense! I eagerly await patch 1.1. I still rely on Stardock to break my LOTRO-addiction.
Nope, but I can confirm this. Oddly enough I now have a single "Wardens" (yes, its still spelled plural) with 46 HP instead of four "Wardens" with a total of 46 HP.
*blinks* Niiiiiice!
I'm building a "final release" patch tomorrow... I understand your pain. I've managed to squeeze in three whole hours of Elemental during train travels when I was so brain-dead I could not code anyway. So far, the game feels a bit sluggish on my laptop (and gaming rig), and yes, lots of expanding to do, but I am very interested, and a small but dedicated team can do so much more sometimes than a big team, provided you have the talent... which Stardock clearly has! Have
