I bought a Civ III compilation a while back from D2D. It was my first digital distribution game purchase. I've held off on them for any other purchases for the following reasons: * Patches and content updates released after the version you've purchased for the games I bought or was looking to buy were either very delayed, on the order of *months* (or in the case of Civ III, never materialized afaik). * User created content, mods, and addons may not be compatible wi
Bioware gets more filled with shit and suck by the minute. "Nothing will change now that we are a part of EA" was such utter and complete bolloks.
I've no idea if it's related to the deal with EA, but I do have to say I was looking to DA as being a return to more open-ended PC RPGing. I enjoyed KotOR, and have started playing Mass Effect, and think I might like Jade Empire. But th
The most interesting feature displayed in the shot is the cave entrance just 'north' of the town walls. The explorer in me wants to find out what's inside. re: I agree that having the crop fields within the walls is odd. Aesthetics aside, from a gameplay standpoint I'm curious about that strictly because I'm leaning towards a preference of having such resource nodes (if that's the purpose they serve) outside of the walls and (theoretically) more vulnerable

I've followed it off and on for a while now (seems like about 5 years?) to see where it stood - and it was stuck in "looking for publisher" status for a couple of years. Yes, I've heard of it! I also was a bit peeved they pushed the Mar

And to make my earlier post more contributory, I'll add: I really do look forward to someone developing a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate. If rumours about PS:T and SD are correct, I'm not as excited as I might otherwise be. Though I respected the tech and story of Planescape: Torment , it wasn't in the setting that I most enjoyed. I just p

This is like NTFS hard links. I hate them too. I'd like to think that because the banner I'm posting under says Elemental , I'm posting on that forum. What was the giant win for implementing this nexus of confusion?
I ctrl+esc (common) or alt+tab (rare) fairly frequently, in order to flip to another app (usually a web browser). Assuming this auto-save option is an option, I'd be ok with it - but I would certainly disable it. Because I don't want hard disks thrashing while I try to switch over to the other app.

If they implement DoT** attacks then I'd still consider (possibly) having that as a seperate role for my casting unit(s) if I were trying to bet
I'm ambivalent about random events. Sometimes they're fun and sometimes they're not fun and get annoying, Check box toggle off/on, or slider frequency control from Off to Frequent works best for me.
Pretty sure a 3 foot rise would screw Florida. Probably Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn, too. New Orleans would have to start over. Again. Doesn't take much in coastal areas.
Some of the roles overlap in functionality (Supporters and Augmenters). A couple might be too narrowly-defined (Mage Killer, Diviner) to be worthwhile unless very cheap to get. Whether that is good or bad (or not an issue) I have no idea yet - and won't until we have more info about actual gameplay. For sake of discussion, let's say having overlapping roles or magic schools was just horrible and we absolutely had to avoid it. In that instance, I'd probably reduce t

Can't speak to the question or concern about spell or unit progression (yet), but I will say that I'm really not worried about concerns about 'balance' stemming from player created content. In other games (and there are many that are modded heavily) these things (balance, playability) tends to sort it outself out, a bit like a self-cleaning oven. I drafted a post on ideas for a series of 'packs' of user -created spells organized thematically. Then binned it because it's folly. I need to know the scope and granularity of spell effects. Need to know if spells can have negative impacts on the caster (Say I want to make a Fireball spell a la D&D. But I
Well the point is that many gamers assume it's not cheating and they continue playing games without experiencing the joys of being the underdog and making a comeback. Don't get sucked into it. The crux of each argument has been about 10 or 30 year cycles. The issue isn't about such vanishingly small periods. It's about longer term cycles where the Earth loses the ability to find it's equilibrium. How long do you stand in front of the loaded pistol before you act on the threat? It's too late once the trigger is pulled, and I think folks that actually study the warming trending are trying to tell us that the fin
