Actually they do share a number of characteristics. For example, both are satirical in nature. Both poke fun at politics, celebrities, and pop culture. They also both are aimed at a mature audience, which is non-traditional in animated cartoons. Finally both shows have been targeted by the extremes of both sides of the political spectrum (conservatism vs liberalism) as being worthy of censorship, discreditably and outright hostility.
Not really, no. How is the Futurama
Exactly. So a warrior can spend it however he likes, whereas a mage has to conserve it. Mages get punished for using it, warriors do not. I suspect that a warrior could put his magic essence into various mage type characters, therefore having more magic overall than a mage sovereign.
I don't think of it as mages getting punished for using it. I think of it as Essence giving mages more mana, so they're encouraged to use it wisely. If you have Essence affect Con, then if
I don't see why this would be so difficult or complex. I think most people would like the semi-forced customisation.
I didn't say it would be difficult or complex, but that it wouldn't be fun trying to juggle a piece of armor between 30-some guys trying to figure out who can wear it and who can't.
Intelligence is... Intelligence. Intellect. Ability to think. It has a lot to do with research.
Again, I didn't say it has nothing to do with re
What Spell Book would it be part of?
Can we get the names of the non-starter spellbooks? We know Valor, Curses, Vengeance, Necromancy.. a few more? Will help with this. As for an idea: 1. Spell Name: Barrier 2. Tactical 3. 15 4. 3 + INT/10 (if possible, else 5) 5. No 6. Target unit gains INT/10 Damage Reduction (INT/10 lesss damage taken per hit) 7. Ice, or Valor (being a Protection spell) 8. Similar to Stoneskin,
Strength - Should allow you to equip heavier items. I'll get to this later in the items section. I'm not sure what else strength CAN do. Maybe have certain "skill checks" in quests, and one of them is strength if you select a certain option?
Remember that the Sovereign is not the only unit with stats. Trying to keep track of what 30 champions can wear and what they can't by their strength scores is not going to be fun.
Intelligence - Bonus to
That said it'd be cool if there were animations that could at least create the illusion of a continuing battle, sat two opposing units are facing eachother and had attacked in previous turns, so the animation shows a continuing battle between the two forces (no losses calculated until the turns come about again). So when you're in an engagement it doesn't look so much like everybody is standing around waiting for their turn to "fight" again. Purely cosmetic but I'm sure the people look

As long as the number of people per unit can be changed through a mod, it doesn't particularly bother me that by default a unit can have a max of 20 if it works well in context of the core game. But if I'm making an LoTR mod (which of course will get made), the Battle of Helm's Deep will be pretty weak if 10,000 Uruk-hai are only represented by 200 or so :P

Generally speaking, Stardock is "OK" with multiple installations for a LAN, as long as you uninstall them afterwards if it's on computers that aren't yours, like a LAN party at a net cafe or something. You are generally permitted a second installation on a computer you do own, in the EULA. It is unlikely, I think, for Elemental to be different. Certainly if it's only between you and your husband in the same house you'll be able to install it on both and play LAN - however, online will re

It only costs one mana because I'm pretty sure you can only teleport into your own zone of influence. Meaning, it's basically a "return" spell. It doesn't let you teleport around the map freely.

Can't judge by Beta 3. Or by Beta 4. I'm not worried about the game's content at all, just a bit about general UI polish, which if they run out of time can be done for day0 patch and subsequent patches.

Personally I prefer a bit of scaling when zooming, though I think the scale range is a little too large at the moment (units get too small when zooming in, and too large when zooming out). However, seeing as how you have a checkbox, I don't see a reason not to leave it!

What we currently has is a Tiny map. What we will be able to have are 64-bit monstrocities of maps. Even with current balance, 10,000 is certainly very possible. It doesn't matter if they're unequipped peasants or fully armored knights (in terms of how long it would take to get resources, etc).
As for Annatar, I was thinking along very similar lines. I envisioned that your sovereign could work toward locking essence into combat fluency in certain ways, which would of course reduce his overall casting ability but provide helpful buffs in battle.
Indeed. My main "peeve" about essence now is that it exists to just (barely) serve the magic side of things. While it's true that your Sovereign is by default able to use magic, it doesn't mean that he has to be a mage
I just think artificial limits are bad. Plain and simple.
But you're just making an assumption that the 3 minutes is an artificial limit, that was already debunked by LTW earlier. Balancing map size, pacing, stats so that an average (meaning, "Most of your battles will be like this") battle takes about 3 minutes to play out is vastly different from having an artificial limit on a battle.

I wrote this for something else, but might as well post it here, too. Basically, I feel that Essence has lost a bunch of its intended purpose and currently just isn't interesting. In the beginning, Brad likened having Essence to Sauron in the beginning of the Fellowship of the Ring movie, in that hoarding Essence for personal use would make you powerful. Right now, the only thing Essence does is give you more mana to play with. This sort of kind of very indirectly makes you a "powerfu
