One thing I would add to this list is the possibility to upgrade units and bind them into bigger group and remove them from the group if needed. So I could split my 12 men unit into 2 6-men squads if needed and combine them back whenever I want to.
Not that this is a bad idea, but I'd prefer to keep the thread sticking to the most serious design issues as per title, which this isn't. The more this thread becomes a feature wish list the less likely they'll keep paying at

Very strongly agree on 1-5. Also agree on 6, but can live without it. Can't really add much to your post as I think you covered it nicely.
No research available -- says need scholars, and "scholars" does not appear in manual (perhaps city level "x"needed) No achievements for hero (some splashscreens indicate they exist) No inns found yet -- so no quests
These are all intended, the campaign is a linear story, rather than extension of a sandbox game. There's no tech research, you get given techs at various points. Likewise there aren't any goodie huts with loot or random quests, both
I think the biggest problem isn't that magic is too WEAK, but that magic doesn't SCALE properly.
Precisely. In particular, using damage-magic against powerful creatures and squads doesn't scale. Spells roll against defense, and squads simply pool all the individual stats into one roll, which ends up with problems. The scaling problem exists because unlike attack and defense being multiplied by a factor of STR/DEX, magic damage is strictly linear scaling. If you
This finished/unfinished complaining is pointless, though. Everyone has a different idea of what it means. To some people, not having MP for a week is unfinished. But there are plenty of games that don't have MP and aren't considered unfinished. Therefore, to me, MP is not a "core" feature and it being missing for a week doesn't mean the game is "unfinished". The crashes are worse, but, it also happens to a lot of games. SD can't quite test every possible configuration (particularly old ones)
No, the player can't currently control how the units are positioned. It has to be a function of where they are in the stack, since I've noticed that the position stays largely the same on the same tactical maps. You can try fiddling around with how you merge your units into the stack and see if it makes a difference.
There are research techs in the Adventure tree to increase your adventuring and quest levels.
A zerg strat I learned watching a replay of an "Insane" AI vs. me was to build a spare hatchery just below the main (with no drones collecting resources, only to spawn larva) and crank out roaches. I lost in under 10 minutes while still building my creep highway to my second hatchery. Solid strat.
You can accomplish the same thing cheaper if you just build a Queen at your main to spawn 4 larva every 40 seconds. If you're not mining out of the second hatchery anyway. In
I have three air shards. The damge of my lightning attack spell should therefore be tripple my Int. My Int is 19. The description of the spell says that the max damage for the spell is 72 (not sure why it isn't 57, but there is a lot of fuzzy math happening behind the scenes so I'm probably getting some kind of percentage bump somewhere I'm not aware of. Anyhoo, I cast my spell at an ogre with 57 life, 187 attack and 7 defence. If the spell works as advertised I should be doing an aver
1. What are the red and blue dots that show up next to the city and hero icons on the left side of the screen?
One is for the number of stationed units, the other is for the number of constructed improvements. If you click the + in the corner of the city's icon, it'll expand the view and show you these units and buildings.
These books are not intended to be available at creation of custom Sovereigns. Some of the premade ones use them for lore reasons.
There are spells that will use your essence. Terraforming your land, imbuing your champions with it are all different spells.
I'd also like to say thank you for pulling many many very late nights in a row to push out needed updates. It is much appreciated, even if people seem impatient ;)
1) The number of enchantment slots is equal to your current Essence, at least from beta. I haven't heard them changing it. 2) Yes, any maintained spell (enchantments and summons) take up a slot. 3) Right now, no. You can upgrade an existing design to use new equipment, but you can't upgrade any units you already built.
1.01 is the current latest version. They're still working on putting out today's patch, should be soon.
Yes, multiplayer is turned off until next week. They had to call in most of the office over the weekend to deal with the broken street date by some retailers, so they want to give them a few days to rest before they unleash MP.
Custom server support will be released later. For a bit after launch, the only way to play will be on Stardock's dedicated servers. In theory, once players can host custom servers they will also be able to play on offline LANs.
Arrow keys should work fine for movement, what problems are you having?
The question is, once I get everything installed and updated... if the day 0 thing isn't ready, do I start that campaign at that point, or just start playing a random map set up. /pointless comment
I would start sandbox first. The campaign is supposed to get some love in the tutorial department with the patch, so it makes sense to wait.
In the game options, set the tactical battle threshold to 0. This will prompt you to fight every battle.
You should be able to load the map when you make a game by clicking the Load button next to the world map. As for actual mods, as long as "Use Mods" is checked in the settings, every downloaded mod is automatically enabled. I was actually surprised this morning when I started a quick sandbox, and a tile/quest I made in beta showed up in the random map.. guess I forgot to delete the files. It would be nice to have a screen that shows which mods are running, and allow unloading/preventi
1) A mate told me it is released.. witch is why I am here.. but I can not see that in the news?! So is this game released yet? I know it is available to pre-order.. I mean released.
The official release date is today. Some stores broke street date over the weekend, so they rushed people in and worked through the weekend to give it an early release on Sunday night.
2) I know you have a digital download version... YAY... dvds and boxes and all the crap clut
Basically, at the moment there will only be SD's dedicated servers to play on. So you can get your LAN to play on them, but for now at least you won't be able to host your own LAN server. They have plans to allow custom servers hopefully soon.
Hahahaha. Well done, sir :P Now that's how you post a gripe about a lack of advice for new players.
