It's certainly not the capabilities of my PC that define the limit of the AI's computational abilities. You're an idiot. In several threads, developers have flat out said this is the case. In fact, it would make no sense that the algorithm would stop working on a software level at a certain number. No sense at all. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width

Its a game with evil space monkeys on killing spree! Where does "realism" fit the picture? Well, aside from being from space, the human race is nothing but a bunch of evil monkeys on a killing spree

Restricting speed to this ludicrous value on a map that's 240 parsec's across is an admission that the AI can't really hack an open movement system. As for "open admission"... Mumble, you're dangerously close to becoming a

I wonder what you'd think about people who put what are basically small refrigerators in their pcs? Can i install a hinge on the case and use an empty tray to keep my beer? OOH OOOH, and i want a slide out bottle opener on my case...

Wrong on both counts--the GeForce 8800 is the only DX10 card available currently WWW That's cute Sorry, i do a lot of production work so my stuff is always current (hardware + software). My mistake on the

By the way Kidgloves... You have 2 gigs of Ram... it's right in your report. But that's still sufficient, I run as much, though it might have better CAS Latency... still shouldn't matter Processor speed is fine, I actually use an AMD 3500+ as well... good choice Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.2GHz Physical Memory: 2048MB RAM Page File: 234MB used,

Well, my first suggestion would be trying to keep up with those in the reverse order. If your economy crumbles you're essentially screwed. The biggest mistake most players make is spending their 5000bc right off the bat by buying colony ships and then immediately raising taxes till morale is almost red. Instead, build all your stuff from scratch in the beginning (save for like 1 or 2 factories on your home planet). Increase you're spending slider to max out from the getgo. People have different

No evil, there are two types of people who answer that question, you who are constructive, and me who gives a generic question a generic/sarcastic answer just to be an arse . Answer 1: No, you cannot beat the AI. That's why no one has recorded a victory on the metaverse... ever. Answer 2: Here's my

Wait wait wait. Maybe we could even add a hard-coded cap to metal resources for ship and improvement building. That would make it REALISTIC! We could turn off auto piloting, and alternate every single parsec move with every opponent alive! That way we can intercept! I want every single object that is new that comes across any ship sensor on my gigantic map to stop me with a pop up! I want every relations status change between races to inform me that it's happened! If military, economic, social p

An array of 16 maxed out military starbases add 1008 points of attack and defense to your tiny hull fighter that otherwise only has a single attack and a single defense point. Besides pumping up your military rating to avoid attack, these fighters are now worth about 300 points of attack and 50 points of defense in all three categories. A few fleets of these and why would

Max I've had is about 5000 ships in a single parsec. Then I gifted them to the AI. Then the lagging pursued oooooh so badly when i realized I hit turn... with those ships in focus, and had to watch the AI run it's intensive algorithm on each ship, then move it it's measily 1 parsec... Don't test the max Your CPU will be mad at you

BTW I think it's a waste of modules to put any attack/defense on *any* SB. I dunno... my military resource bases are pretty important... Check the end game stats. You'll find most of the time that an AI's "most powerful" ship is a starbase. It's also a very fast way to phony up a military rating to avoid war

And god help you if the Yor are between you and your oponent. I can see the Yor being my first target in every game unless they are off to the side of the map or otherwise isolated. If you target every opponent with a super-ability that pisses you off, you're going to find 9 targets.

I'd have no issue with a speed limit that scaled with galaxy size. I don't know if I agree here. If you scale speed with galaxy size, then you're really not playing in a "bigger" galaxy. Basically we'd end up with all galaxies being the same size, but some have smaller subunits of travel and denser planet population.

Ugh Yet another nub who doesn't understand hardware response time versus software response time. It's possible to make all controls lag in any game, it becomes more noticable with motion sensors, however. Any game that has poorly developed algorithms to input handlers will make it seem as if the remote itself is lagging... but... IT MUST BE THE CONSOLE! I know for a fact that the controls themselves do not lag. I own one. But you can keep trying to convince me they do all you w

Looks like someone didn't take too kindly to your words of encouragement n0v4k4n3! I know, par for the course =\ i didn't get my birdie.
