It used to work (sort of) with the vanilla Elemental. Then, starting with FE, it didn't. 3D Vision won't even start when the game is booted. I was hoping that with the improved graphics of LH the game might once again work with 3DV but no joy. Can someone, preferably a dev, give me the straight dope on this ? Is there a way to make it work ? Is there a specific reason why it doesn't ? I realize it's a niche market but, well, anyone who's ever played with a good 3DV game ca

Hi guys, Either there's a bug in the production and use of crystals or I'm doing something wrong. In my current game, I own a crystal mine. For the first little while, it worked fine, producing 0.5 crystals per season. I quit the game for a bit and logged back in and...the crystal indicator was absent from the top bar of the game. I checked the city where the mine was located and it indicated that, yes, the mine was indeed producing. The production just wasn't showing up a

Hi guys, I posted a similar question in the general forum but it seems to be the wrong place to ask. I was disappointed to see that FE doesn't trigger 3D Vision when I start it although WoM, with the same engine, did. Are there any changes I can make, perhaps to the .ini file, to allow that ? The game is not perfect in 3D Vision but it's playable and the effect adds a lot to the immersion. Thanks in advance !
Personally I wouldn't like that game to have tactical battles like in Total War. I would prefer turn based option as in Age of Wonders. simply map, let's say 150 x 150 hexes, with lots of bushes, trees, hedges, hills etc would do the trick. That was the best game in terms of turn based battles I ever played! I played it for years! . No idea how difficult it can be but maybe some modders could do that
If you want to see epic, deep, and organic-looking battles, stick to the Total War series, especially The Third Age mod. Let's be honest, Elemental dropped the ball on this one. Battles are clunky and unsatisfying and there's frankly no excuse for this kind of anemic display in 2010. To those who say that you couldn't satisfactorily incorporate magic and spells in TW-style battles, I say take a look at Neocore's King Arthur and weep. It's already been done, and done very well. The picture tha

Can't figure out what I need to use the Old Growth Forest tile. No tech I've researched seems to give me the required building. Is it disabled for now ? In addition, I have a question regarding Caravans. They seem to work ok for the most part but, once I've a few going between my cities, I'll sometimes get a prompt to issue orders to one that just arrived in a city. Which leads me to wonder if there's a limit to the number of caravans that can interact with any given city. Also,

Got a game going yesterday, on a large world made up of big islands. Things were going well for a while until I noticed that there was not a single beach on my island, and no Earth Shards (which seem to be a prerequisite for the Raise Land spell). I was therefore completely stuck there. I kept playing anyway, just to practice town development and spell research, and ended up scoring a (rather cheap) victory by researching every spell. I assume that this is some kind of bug, right ? Or
I don't think they've given a specific comment on this, it's still a bit of a nich market. However like most games with a 3D engine it will mostly work, though it might have depth issues with particles and the mouse pointer as many games do.
It does work, sort of. You get the 3D effect although it's not optimal (I suspect the cell-shading may have something to do with it), along with some ghosting (which i
Got shocked by wild flowers tile? Well anyway, I also don't seems to see/found any mines at all.
Actually, now that you bring it up, I had one instance where the ore mine did show up on the 3D map, but, when I moused over, the description said something about wild flowers and prestige. Anyway, this puzzles me. The games in the first build spawned mines. This absence seems to be some

The game does not seem to spawn mines any more. I've noticed I couldn't find on in a game I was playing, then restarted 5 times, with the sole goal of exploring the map to check. No dice, not a single mine in six different game attempts. I'm a bit of a computer neanderthal so can anyone tell me what and how to attach for the devs ?

As it is, the game pretty much gives you a reason to murder hapless scientists, merchants, and farmers if you can't afford to hire them. That kinda dilutes the whole RPG dimension. If you want to play a "bad" king, you murder strangers. If you want to play a "good" king, you still have to murder strangers. I suppose you could set your own house rules and let these guys be, but the game is encouraging you to behave like a bastard. How about a system whereby if you murder, say, a farmer, t

I'm asking because I've played the beta for a couple of days now and watched a few gameplay movies on YouTube, and it seems that there are absolutely no consequences for killing NPCs. Very often, these guys are harmless (a guy who gives you a farming boost, for example), and there is paltry loot for killing them. In fact, if you're low on cash, you have an incentive to kill them to prevent the other kingdoms from hiring them. It kinda detracts from the game's credibility as an RPG h

Seems to me that people who find it "tedious" to have to place structures "on the actual map" (the horror, the horror...) should be playing Civ or TW instead, where the whole city concept is abstracted to one tile. City management, if anything, is already too easy in Elemental. Please, Stardock, don't dumb it down any further.

A good story, for a Beta, but it's a bit ridiculous that you can get one guy to singlehandedly defeat an entire empire for you, no ? Seems to me the games needs some serious hero balance...
