I bought E:WOM for a specific reason, to recreate a custom world with a game that allowed/encouraged mods, and could facilitate a map size of epic proportions (which is for my needs about 20% larger then Large). I had this problem after the 2nd Beta Update as well. Never was able to get help on it. Decided to just wait for it to go Gold rather then nag. I also was not the only one with the same symptoms, but there was just a handful of us. Unfortunately, the updated version has the same problem. Could do it like Railroad Tycoon games do, you plop down roads the way you want them. In Railroad Tycoon: A basic track was cheap. A two track was a bit pricey. Maybe lay out the planned road and have it take a few turns to be usable. Pretty basic idea :D
