I know it's really obvious, but have you checked that you have the latest drivers and all that? I'm running Sins on a fairly old rig (2.4Ghz C2D, 4GB, Win7 64bit) and have had only 3 crashes throughout the entire public beta and have decent performance with everything everywhere maxed! So as Scudhawk alluded to, perhaps a latest hardware issue?
I never play on anything less than hard. The instance of my partner AI not building any frigates, they were aggressive. Funnily enough, when I went back to my game, immediately after building his titan, he built a shed load of frigates and fleet balance went to normal. Why am I calling the AI a he? *shakes head*
Not sure if this has been covered in the current patch. Played 3 games so far with the new patch. First one was a good fight with the nothing to report. Second was fine up until hour mark 9 when I noticed that one of the AI had over 100 scouts. Not the end of the world and could be a one off. Third game - so far almost no frigates being built!!! I don't know, maybe its because I set it to be a team game. My partner in crime has just finished building a titan to go with his
My only concern with the pirates is how they are out of the game within about an hour against the AI. Novalith make them go bye bye. Other than wanting to make the Pirates tougher (capital ships, maybe even a Titan - lol okay just kidding on that one), I just want their base to become a non viable Novalith target. If the Advent super weapon is useless against them, so should the TEC's. How else am I going to get cheap target practice for my capital ships to train on?
No, he's right. The auto casting isn't going off. This isn't a big problem for us humans, but does cause a serious problem for the AI.
I've had inconsistent results with the latest patch. Some of the early battles have been genuinely good and have caught me out, requiring me to react to the AI for a change. This isn't always the case though: as the last game they became relatively brain dead after about 90 minutes.
Really loving the new patch. Things run a heck of a lot smoother. The AI is much better at utilizing fleet supply and things just generally work!
I think the pirates are good XP for cap ships.
That's what I was going to say. I love getting attacked by pirates, especially now with Titans. My only problem is that the AI nuked the AI in less than an hour with a Novalith strike [e digicons]X([/e]
angryandroid - thanks for the info. We're definitely looking into these issues, including the early researching of Titan tech.
Cool, thanks for the update :-) Nicos78, I know what you mean. I've had a few dud Economy AI's as well that do exactly what you describe. More times than not however, they have seemed akin to Sins of old that I remember. Admittedly, I haven't tried vicious AI yet but plan to play
I am wondering if the AI is going to be sorted out in patches which are close? I've played a number of test games against hard AI where their ability to build fleets seemed entirely broken. I watched some replays and specified different AI types to find different results. Economy AI - these are fun to play against. They consistently build fleets with a decent mix of frigates and capital ships. I end up fighting against them first as they have provided a half decent challen
I played another game last night with 3v3 and a mixture of AI types. I was quite impressed with the Economy AI on my team. Although it didn't build any defenses (strange), it did go on a mass butt kicking spree against the other AI (tiny bit of help from me). Maybe I was lucky.
/*Feedback The AI does not build enough Frigates nor does it attack the human player with any frequency at the moment. Interestingly enough, the 2 Hard Aggressive AI's that I put into the last game fought each other and didn't horde their resources, nor build any mines. */
I've noticed the same thing and am about to play a game against 2 aggressive AI's to see if that makes a difference.
I have both games and like both games. They are similar in many areas but Elemental does try to break the mould in lots of ways. The trouble is, CIV 5 is a practiced and polished game. It has been refined through numerous releases and expansions. Also, IMHO Sid created the best PC game ever in Alpha Centauri. Whatever your view is though, SD is a great company that stands by its customers - so the hope for the future of both Elemental and SD is high.
lol, I've won a few games but haven't seen one dragon yet. How do I get one?
The game is getting better with each patch and its obvious the amount of hard work being put in. Some people wont wait around for things to get better though. Once things truly get nailed down, it would be nice to get an expansion so the game can effectively be re-released to the world. New reviews, new customers and perhaps the new franchise saved. Who knows?
I downloaded the 1.08b patch today and started a new game, no mods. Lightning Strike missed every single time! I will try and learn some new spells to see if they work, but this is very odd and very broken for me at the moment.
Commiserations to those that lost their jobs. All the best for the future.
I have had a similar problem and will see how to report it I think. Windows 7 64bit anyone? :-)
Not surprisingly, E:WoM played just fine for me right out of the box (or Impulse download). Almost all software on the planet is released with some bugs in it and a long wish-list from the developers. The good thing about SD is, they then start work on that wish-list. I do have sympathy for some of the nay-sayers though, it does seem like there were some fairly big problems for some people for the first few days.
Working on getting a few more tutorial-esque bits into the campaign as we speak, using your guys' feedback as my metric for what to hit the hardest (being so close to the project, we totally overlooked things like 'camera controls' and 'unit movement')...sorry about that Hopefully this next pass will help ease people into the gameplay better
From my day 1 experience, I really could have done with some guidance o
Cheers, am downloading now. [e digicons][/e]
Is Elemental ready to buy in the UK? I want to buy it when I get home from work and play it on digital download tonight. I thought I would ask first after messing up with the pre-orders. Thanks.
Me too, not happy. [e digicons]>:([/e] Edit: Just sent a cancellation email (2 actualy, by mistake). I read that someone could not cancel this pre-order. Well UK law states otherwise and if they would like to not cancel it, my credit card company will be happy to deal with it.
