Getting Started with the Elemental Beta

I'm seeing a few questions being posted on how to get started with the Elemental beta.  In most cases you just need to enable "pre-release versions" in the Impulse preferences so you can see and download the beta.

This is a quick overview on how to do that, and I will pin it to the forums for future reference.

You should now see Elemental in your My Games tab.

I just purchased the pre-release yesterday, and I have the box checked, but no Beta.  Several others on the stardock forum have said something similar.

The beta was closed to new entrants after we released Beta 4 Thursday afternoon. Any orders made after then will be queued and charged at release.

So what happens now, i ordered it 5 minutes ago and I just need to wait until it unlocks or I've lost the chance to get into Beta?

I believe the beta is closed completely now.  You will just need to wait until the final release this month.

Thats just great, this is the first time i've ever heard that early Beta Access closes for any game from pre purchase.  That was my reason for ordering early. But I guess I'm out of luck since I had no clue that you guys would close the beta despite for those pre ordering.

So I'm disappointed for ordering early for this game then.   I cant even get a refund either from the Returns Policy.   I'm disappointed, considering my reason for early pre - order was to get into Beta and play a bit early.

Don't be disappointed. The beta is not fun. Most things are incomplete, so on so forth. That said, since you ordered after the beta closed you didn't actually get charged (only a temporary hold on the funds to make sure you got enough). So if you really want to, you can cancel the pre-order and not be charged for it. Send an email to [email protected] for that.

As the other posted stated, the beta isn't really intended to be an early demo or "fun" playable version of the game.  The final release is less than a month away, I wouldn't be too disappointed.  :)

I just did the same thing, I bought the game online not even 5 minutes ago and looked for the beta download. :P

Me too, not happy. >:(

Edit: Just sent a cancellation email (2 actualy, by mistake). I read that someone could not cancel this pre-order. Well UK law states otherwise and if they would like to not cancel it, my credit card company will be happy to deal with it.

It looks like, at least at this stage, that pre-orders get the gold version a few days early, as in this thread (under Availability).

Edit: I'm sorry to see you go.

Best regards,
Steven.

You cannot cancel your preorder if you have downloaded the beta.  Since you haven't, it isn't a problem.

Its your own fault, no one but yours to begin with. Just because you got over excited and jumped the gun with a blatant assumption.

I don't think UK laws protect you if the company is not in UK.
