I have both games and like both games. They are similar in many areas but Elemental does try to break the mould in lots of ways. The trouble is, CIV 5 is a practiced and polished game. It has been refined through numerous releases and expansions. Also, IMHO Sid created the best PC game ever in Alpha Centauri. Whatever your view is though, SD is a great company that stands by its customers - so the hope for the future of both Elemental and SD is high.

lol, I've won a few games but haven't seen one dragon yet. How do I get one?
The game is getting better with each patch and its obvious the amount of hard work being put in. Some people wont wait around for things to get better though. Once things truly get nailed down, it would be nice to get an expansion so the game can effectively be re-released to the world. New reviews, new customers and perhaps the new franchise saved. Who knows?
I downloaded the 1.08b patch today and started a new game, no mods. Lightning Strike missed every single time! I will try and learn some new spells to see if they work, but this is very odd and very broken for me at the moment.
Commiserations to those that lost their jobs. All the best for the future.
I have had a similar problem and will see how to report it I think. Windows 7 64bit anyone? :-)
Not surprisingly, E:WoM played just fine for me right out of the box (or Impulse download). Almost all software on the planet is released with some bugs in it and a long wish-list from the developers. The good thing about SD is, they then start work on that wish-list. I do have sympathy for some of the nay-sayers though, it does seem like there were some fairly big problems for some people for the first few days.
Working on getting a few more tutorial-esque bits into the campaign as we speak, using your guys' feedback as my metric for what to hit the hardest (being so close to the project, we totally overlooked things like 'camera controls' and 'unit movement')...sorry about that Hopefully this next pass will help ease people into the gameplay better
From my day 1 experience, I really could have done with some guidance o
Cheers, am downloading now. [e digicons][/e]
Me too, not happy. [e digicons]>:([/e] Edit: Just sent a cancellation email (2 actualy, by mistake). I read that someone could not cancel this pre-order. Well UK law states otherwise and if they would like to not cancel it, my credit card company will be happy to deal with it.
I've just ordered and it said on the main website that you would get access to the beta. Nothing happens when I click show pre-release and then I come here. Really not happy about this. What was the point of pre-ordering when its a digital download!?
