I can't even see the final release on the SC program. I guess I will have to wait a few more hours at least to get the email through. Do you think if I bitch and whine at them personaly things might go along faster?

Oh come on, I want to start downloading midnight Sunday when the first second of Monday begins. I don't want to have to wait all that time till Tuesday! Come on, pretty please?

I do hope that there is plenty of tactical elements to consider in Sins. The fantastic scope of the game would only be enhanced if the option was there to utilise tactical manouvers etc. It shouldn't be required(I read that the AI is pretty good at fighting for you), but should still be an option. Could anyone say what the tactical options are for the final release?

I'm confused, does he have the final game? Meh, I hate these silly little rant threads. I want more juicy info on the game. One weekend left to wait.

Geesh, calm down. Why would anyone be angry? If you don't have a credit card, speak to a friend/family member who does. It's not rocket science. Downloading on Monday at the stroke of midnight (yeah I know it isn't going to be that easy - I just want to play it by the time I get home from work lol).

The idea of being able to easily create your own story sounds great. A meta campaign scripting system would have been nice, but I know I always end up in scurmish and multiplayer. Very few games have engaging stories that are worth playing through. Playability is all that matters, even more so in RTS's.

My PC was pretty much top of the line when I built it a little over a year ago. It should have no problems with Sins I hope. It handles Crysis at medium settings with good resolution and the graphics in Sin's isn't doing as much as Crysis. Still, I would imagine all the variables and AI that are going on, a good dual core will really help along with more memory. Did I read it right that it supports more than dual core? I was looking for a good reason to upgrade, maybe this is it? Lots

Yeah I was shocked at the $30 increase to $80. Who cares though, the regular DD version is only $50, so it's up to you if you think it is worth it. ..... *Shakes fist* This better be the best game ever! You got lucky. ..... At least I think that's what Homer said :HOT:

I just canceled the digital download pre-order (made after BETA) and went with the DVD + download. I wasn't expecting it to cost the extra $30 but so be it ($80 roughly £40 total). All this for a game I've never played - yet desperatly want. I think Stardock must have really done so well with Gal Civ 2 for me to be acting like a fanboy. I don't usualy buy any game until I've played a demo (or friends copy) and read several very positive reviews. I would dearly love to play BET

The AI in GalCiv2 ranges from moronic to unbelievable. I'm still not able to beat 9 opponants on "full" (tough) with all their advanced scripts enabled and no economy bonus above mine. It's a really good step above most games out there. But the OP is wrong, clockspeeds make NO difference in the ability of programers to make advanced AI. Advanced AI comes from advanced programing techniques and I imagine a huge amount of work. The processors instructions per second and many many other fa

I have been dabbling with a strat similar to Fate. Instead of thinking, ok, my big ships need 100+ firepower, I maybe only have 48 (4 of the evil psyonic beams) which guarantees me (almost) smashing most small to medium sized ships in one go. This is great as then I cram in as much appropriate defences as possible (often 100+ defence), meaning 9 times out of 10 the little fighters dont even make a scratch, if they do, they cause a couple of hp maximum. Adding to that, I normaly have a f

700% influence or economic bonus? Ouch! I really would not like to see such unbalancing items make it into the game. To be honest, the production bonus of 700% is bad enough, but at least it can be crippling economicly early on if not managed correctly. Actually, after the 1.3 patch, I haven't seen one but can imagine that production bonus might be even more cause for concern.

To the OP, I do not agree that this is a bad thing. Diplomatic victories are fixed and the game is a lot more balanced (but needs a bit more work too). The trading is another matter and I am in two minds about it. I honestly think though on the balance of it, the Dev's made the right choice in what they did. Games are now, slower, harder and significantly more challanging in many areas. The bugs are almost gone and the balance is nearly right, I feel. Yes some disagree but a games devel

Yeah and sometimes it makes no sense. I dont think the surrender decision making is ideal and so if that is not going to be tweaked further (Im not expecting many if any more full updates), so a disable this option (for non metaverse) would be a great little addition (if possible).

Yeah it would have been nice if the minors (have them included or not, but once included), would act as aggressive or as passive as their designed nature. So some minor races would be a real nightmare to be close to and could actually destroy you if you are not careful. I never waste time trading with them (use trade to make friends with people I dont want to fight yet), so minors are just something I eat up fast (yum) if they are near me.

This kind of thing would only be worthwhile if you could change things on the fly and make it more like a RTS while in combat. A feature for GC3 for sure.

I really love the changes, if you are finding it too hard try a new stratagy or an eaiser setting. Im not the best player by far, and I really noticed my economy sucks a lot more but rushing to trade and getting a big economic planet up and running soon got me on happy street.

I infact have a speed increase, but then I have had a BIOS upgrade since playing 1.2 and going to 1.3 so I dont know which caused the change. Sorry I cant confirm and add anything to help with the issue. I'll have a big map test later and see if it feels slower.

Well, the title says it all. I don't think I have ever seen a small or big company be so dedicated at pleasing the customer. This latest "patch" is just huge. It addresses so much and is free. I'm sure it is the intention but, I will recomend Stardock games to friends and other gamers I meet. I look forward to having more time to really get into the latest update, which after reading looks almost like a new game.

Alpha Centauri had various other winning conditions. I think there were more but I remember: alliance, political, conquest, economic, ascention type thing. I'm sure there was at least one more. The thing was, the way economics and political systems worked in that game, they were more advanced than here. I would hope in GC3, an effort would be made to improve on AC in everyway, to make "other than conquest" victories more taxing and exciting.

I have found balance to be the most imporant thing. The only times I lose are when I do not balance my empire correctly. Sometimes, I will put too much investment into building up starbases around my planets (econ, mil), only for the AI to attack my defences which are not bolstered enough. Othertimes, I may put too much into researching a weapon type rather than spreading it across improvments in research and econ buildings. Or I might create a slightly too large defence force before ma
