Sorry for you MOM lovers, but for me the best Fantasy TBS game continues to be Heroes of Might & Magic III after... ¡11 years! [e digicons]:inlove:[/e] Nowadays computers have for superior power, but I have not found yet the game that replaces HOMM3. The truth is, when I get tired of the other games, I keep coming back to old HOMM3. With a bit of luck, Elemental will replace it, but there is yet a bit of work to do for it [e digicons]O:)[/e] Also, searching the Inter
Personally I would have 'Raze City' be free tech and 'Capture City' be something you have to research, but that's just me. After all, it should be easier to plunder and pillage than to negotiate a population. Maybe I'll find a way to change it on my own.
That makes a lot of sense. At the begining you just don't know how to convince people to switch sides, and they just leave, meaning you lose all population (o
I'd like to see the "if the sovereign dies, but has an heir, the heir becomes the new sovereign" solution, but I wouldn't want to change the basic idea. It affects the human player equally, making it dangerous to send your own sovereign against an enemy city, so I'd like to keep that, but the heir thing is a good idea.
calling the game unplayable \= constructive criticism. inaccurate statements like that may give potential new players the wrong idea.
I agree 100% Being too forgiving with mistakes is bad. Exagerating them is also bad. It's funny to see how everybody seems to know what needs to be done to "fix" the game. If it was so easy, there would be thousands of successful game devolepers. But
Do you really think they are going to change such things now? I myself had made a big thread about point 1 during beta 1, when still could have easily changed it, with a lot of examples and arguments on why it was important to have a more sensible random roll distributions, called "on attack/defense probability distributions." Others have made similar threads I think. If Stardock was ever willing to experiment with such fundamental change

Plus heroes can use equipment.
This reminds me that the only way to get xp (that I know of) is on battle. If you station your hero in the city to get the bonus, he will never level up, which I think it's unfair.</p

Yes. The captured cities part needs some attention. Even if you conquer a city from the same faction (i.e., a kingdom capturing another kingdom city) you gain the city with all its population and buildings. But this population was loyal to the former sovereign. Why are they following the new sovereign without any doubt? Yes, some of the inhabitants will just adapt. But I think most of them would leave, as they don't have any type of compromise with the new master. It is said explicite

I think grimzag1 is right when he says that the biggest problem is that there is nothing tying all the different parts of the game. Well, at least we know which is the problem. And I hope Stardock also knows it. The problem is that they will have to fix it by themselves because Python acripts are not accessible yet. Otherwise some of the groups that are creating mods could test some interesting ideas themselves.
5. Taxes should be a much earlier technology IMO. People have been taxing others since the stone age. Making it a later game technology is worthless IMO.
But you are trying to convince people to come to your city and settle there. If you start taxing them as soon as they arrive, they will leave again.

Yes. I have experienced a couple of crashes. And I agree that must be fixed. But reading the forums it seemed like I would not be able to play, and I have been playing non stop for a few hours. Also, I agree that some game mechanics can be improved. (I already wrote a suggestion) But they are not so horribly non working as some posters seem to point. To my understanding, if that was a not so ambitious game, the project leaders would feel very happy with the current design and def

So I capture a city, and then magically all its inhabitants become members of my kingdom. I think that doesn't feel well. That people came to the city atracted to the former sovereign, and they are loyal to him, not to the new sovereign. Their loyalty should stay with that sovereign, and should not stay in the city. Maybe some of them will stay in the city no matter who governs it because they don't want to become nomads again, but the rest should come back to the wild unknown

Finally I have been able to sit for several hours and play a bit of Elemental. And I have to say I am very very surprised. I feel like "Where are all the problems people are talking about?" Sure, there are many things that could be improved (and I hope they get improved) and the AI is easy to win, but the game feels very far from incomplete. Many different structures, buildings, spells and techs, who se number are in par with what similar games have. Well, when I say similar is not co

One of things I like most about GalCiv 2 is the fact that the AI presents a challenge without cheating . I hate when I have to raise up the difficulty level in a game and catch the AI cheating. Sure, it makes it a lot more difficult to win, but it spoils the fun. I don't have this issue with GalCiv 2

I think that this is the first time that you at Stardock face a situation like this. None of your previous games raised as much expectations as Elemental, and none of your previous games had so many people waiting impatiently for the release. For this reason I think it's logical that you make some first time mistakes. But for me the important thing are not those mistakes, but the fact that you will sure learn from them and the very good game that you have delivered. Elemental is

I kind of agree with both "sides" of the discussion. On one side, I love the feeling at the game begining. Is so great to start as a single person, found a kingdom (or empire) and grow from there. What would be good is to have a way to incorporate armies to the medium/late game. It doesn't sound like an easy thing to do. But maybe after we all play several games, we can figure a way to do it, and it will be epic! I don't know... let's say that you get a tech that allows you to
On the question: Pirates don't do harm. By a large extent, they wouldn't have bought anyway and also spread awareness about the game via word of mouth. Many of these who like the game will turn into paying customers for the easy of use that having the game patched via impulse provides.
In other words, pirates are doing the propaganda campaign. That is true to some extent. In my opinion, demos would reduce the "need" for pira

Have played a little bit now (unfortunatelly don't have much time to play) and I like what I see. Parts of the game are similar to other games, but the game as a whole is not similar to anything I have seen. The technical issues do exist, but they are not so terrible as some people say, and I am confident they will get solved. All in all, good value for my money.

I have to agree with the original poster. I just came from work and am downloading the game right now. Can't understand all this nonsense! Of course, the more bug reports and the more comments the better, But what does not help are just plain destructive complains. So the maps are not random? Well, they should be random. It is something to be reported. But an excuse for destructive blaming!

Despite I almost never write in the forums, I am a big Stardock fan since GalCiv2. And if I am not worried is because of the GalCiv2 experience. I think it's safe to assume that Elemental will grow and improbe like GalCiv2. So even if the reviewer is right, I am confident that patches (I mean, early patches. No patches that will take months to be developed) will solve it soon. Stardock is not like Ubi, that took 2 years to make HOMMV playable in the LAST patch. I am sure Elemental wil
