Always find it fascinating where the realism lines are drawn on a game where unrealistic stuff happens on a turn by turn basis. Taking 1 damage from a lightning bolt smacking you on the head is okay. Fighting at full power when you're a paper cut from death (1 HP out of 100) is okay. Breasts and curves on armor is "going too far".
You are so right! As if everything else was "realistic" [e digicons][

I can't prefer Elementa over Civ5. Is like prefering Lord of the Rings over Star Trek. Other than being empire buildiers, they are not the same thing. They can't be compared.

I also believe that the best "apology" from the team is to concentrate in making the patches the best they can. This is far better than any long thread in which every team member apologies ;-)

Then, you can explain that some people at your cities research ancient books and legends talking about those new papers (like if we wanted to search for Atlantis for example). Then... when researchers manage to put together all the information, the location to those ancient places is revealed "appe

Well, it's no secret that a solid fanbase is a real active for any game. It expands the game experience. Not only with fan made content such as maps, but also with suggestions and many different things that the fans make up :-) What is so impressive is that the fan base exists long before the game. Either we are crazy, desperate to get a Fantasy Strategy TBS game, or know where is the true potential ;-) I think that having so many people here is a good sign. People knows
I recommend you HOMM3 Complete. It's for $9,99 in GoG. It has a random map generator, but you don't need it, because there are dozen of good maps that ship with the complete version. The last version of HOMM5 is good to, but IMO not as better as HOMM3. The main difference are better

For example $20 to purchase and then $5 per month for access to continous expansions. But bugfix-patches would have to be free for non-subscribers of course. Only new content through the subscription.
Yes. That's my idea. Of course for the idea to work it needs the publisher to really devel
I don't like HoMM3 that much, some of the hero skills are pretty useless, spells and magic schools are unbalanced, items are boring (HoMM2 items with HoMM3 slot system would be much better), and somehow I prefer the "look and feel" of HoMM2 (but maybe it's for sentimental reasons, because it was the first installment in the series that I played). HoMM5 isn't bad, the skill system is particularly interesting. But if you compare it

They're up to the fourth one now, and people keep on buying. When DLC is done right, it gets what you're talking about without actually going to the "subscription" area (which is fraught with customer unpopularity). If people want more content, they buy it. I am not talking about bugfixes. I am talking about new content. I am not saying you have to pay more. Just pay the same, but in a different way. As I said, which is the normal support time for a game? One year? Two at most? After that time there are no updates at all. No new content. Well, imagine that paying the $50 the retail game costs you get a one year subscription. This means, you can download anytime the game and all the updates that came during the first year. Just li

Well, that's just my point of view. But it is something that runs my mind after seeing/reading some things that happened lately. It seems pretty clear (because Stardock has said it and because that was the way it worked with GalCiv2) that the way Stardock does things is publishing a game and then support it with updates (not just fixes) for some time. That's great. But it cannot go forever. No matter how much the company wants to support the game, after some time it will be puting mon
I honestly don't see MOM ever being remade with newer graphic at this point. The complexity of it is just immense and trying to recreate this whole thing for newer systems would be a very risky proposal, outside of the budget of most people. I think our best chance at this point would be a Free Software remake that stayed as true to the ideal as possible. Something like FreeOrion and UFO:AI
But being such an old game, it's o
Greetings! Stardock is not just a game studio but it is also a publisher. What does this mean? Well, historically, the way it works is a game is released and if people don't like it, they're supposed to buy some expansion pack for it that "fixes" things that people thought should be in the original version.
You mean like HOMM5? On the other hand, HOMM5 demonstrated that a disapointing start can be turned in
