There are lots of multiplayer games out there, as well as lots of real time strategy games, what is wrong with having one turn based, single player game for those of us that enjoy that type of game? It's my understanding that multiplayer will eventually be added, but AFAIK no one will be forced to play it that way.

The Intel 82845G Graphics Controller is part of the motherboard chipset and is no longer supported by Intel. The latest drivers for this chip are from 6/28/05 and do not support DirectX 9.0c. You need a new video card. You should get one that explictly states that it supports DirectX 9.0c. I had the same issue when I got the game, I have the same chipset as well.
