I tend to use a single weapon, because I play on medium or small galaxies with slow research. If I find myself using developing two types of weapons, I find myself wielding two inferior weapons. At the same time, you have to wonder: does it balance itself out because the AI has to defend against both? If I had infinite patience and time, I'd play with this, to be sure. As it is, I don't suspect that there is a huge difference. I find that by the time I can field two strong weapons,

The new tech-tree style sounds excellent; the idea of having "milestones" so that tech development is progressive is innovative and realistic, even if it is basically a consolidation of all the various "Graviton Drivers I, II, and III" techs. Looking at some screenshots, I'm excited about some of the new interface changes. Reading one linked article, I like that other races can use our custom ships. I'd like to see the ability to allow/disallow enemy opponents to use user-made templat

Gasp! Are those SHIPS orbiting planets? And templates? Fantastic! The more I hear about this, the more excited I become. The new features look great; it all looks great. Except for some of the textures on that new ship, but oh well.

When ever the issue of using old structures comes up, I can't help but htink what a headache it would cause. What would work best is a menu where you can individually select which ones remain available, selecting by tabs whether you're looking at industry, economy, etc.

I hadn't noticed this; I always move up to industrial sectors myself. I suppose that from an efficiency standpoint, they are inferior. At the same time, the extra production that they provide helps. Beyond that, they provide upgrades for economy starbases and mining starbases, so I think it balances out. What would be nice, however, is the option to add specific old technologies to the list of things you can build. It would be nice to be able to build several m

You can research technologies that will increase the number of available tiles, yes. While you can't make class 0 (inhospitable) planets habitable yet, the upcoming expansion pack will have planets that require research before they can be colonized.

For excellent worlds, I build both of these improvements. For especially excellent worlds, I'll add the Omega Defense System. However, if you're building one, which do you choose? Also: is the Planetary Defense's 25% defense bonus applied to ship defenses, or the power of your ground forces?

It happens to me a lot. I usually turn off the rally, save the game, close the game, load the game, and turn the rally back on. It gets annoying.

The graphics look astounding; hopefully the gameplay can back that up. I'll keep an eye on this -- it's a good time for strategy. I already knew I'd need to upgrade my computer for Supreme Commander. And now this? It's more motivation!

Good God, I'm in the same situation right now. Medium painful, all opponents. I have the AI all on gifted, yet the Drengin have taken almost total control of the galaxy. The Terrans, Yor, Altarians, and Drath (me) are all relatively strong powers, but we're not standing together, and I cannot coax any alliances. The Drengin are probably twice as strong as all of us combined. I'm in better shape than you seem to have been, and I have "friendly" relations, but I don't expect t

I seem to remember a Necro unit from Total Annihilation. Great for bringing back that Krogoth you spent an hour building, although it was very vulnerable. Why not have a system where ships can be salvaged in a similar manner -- i.e., time and the vulnerability of an expensive salvage operation versus the potential for a "free" ship.

that's a rather nice fleshing out of this idea. It could add a new dimension to diplomacy. While the ally may need your assistance, and vice-versa, it also needs to consider the possibility of betrayal and a "shutdown" of the planet by the enemy ships already in orbit.

I'm not entirely sure where this should go, so I put it here, since I guess it's an idea that could be used in the expansion. In the game I'm playing currently, I had a fleet resting on my frontier, defending an enclave I have of planets recently captured. A few months ago, I gave a few of these planets to my Thalan allies, as they hadn't done terribly well in the race for colonies. Anyways, this fleet is sitting there, and I notice a group of Altarian transports rushing towar

Build queues. If I could have one new usability thing, it would be optional build queues. When I'm trying to produce a set number of fleets without having extra ships floating around, clicking around to each planet can get extremely tedious. I'd just really like to be able to set up the production of a fleet, and then just leave it alone until it's totally done. Aside from that, I'd like a governor that prevents farms from upgrading automatically.

Here's how it generally ends up with me, since I prefer to play as the Drath will all turned on. Just a general estimation of who wins the most. Altarians/Arceans/Iconians Torians Terrans Yor Thalans/Drengin Korx Lately the Altarian's have been doing fairly well in my games, followed by the Terrans. In the game I'm currently playing, I'm doing extremely well (surprisingly), and I've proped up the Thalans as an ally.

I would like to have the ability to outline for the AI pretexts for war -- i.e., as people have said, "please remove your ships/starbases immediately." I'd also like monthly tribute.

Altarian Resistance? Bah, who cares about the Altarians. BUT: Drath Remnants? Say it ain't so! It would seem to me, however, that this balance will be temporary if that is true -- i.e., won't be in the next full game. It does make sense that, of course, we'd be losing a race from each category (or at least two categories, instead of one). I do so love the Drath.

I wasn't sure whether or not I was going to buy it until the other day when (correct me if I'm wrong) you let us know about the new super abilities, which seriously have me excited. If I have to buy it online, I will. I prefer making purchases at a store, but I can live with purchasing online.
