Many great ideas here. Of course some looting would occur. .. affecting moral? Depending on the general and the soldiers "moral-codex" looting the dead could be seen as a good or bad thing. Some men would feel that they had deserved looting the fallen. To get trinkets and such to compliment the soldiering pay, or to exchange a weapon that has been rendered useless during fighting. As said earli
Its possible to crosstrain troops into different weapons. The problem is the skills and experience for using one weapon will atrophy if not constantly excercised. It would make a lot more sense if we could train all of our recruited soldiers a bit in many different weapons, then pick the ones that excel and form them into specialized units. Plus it would allow us to differenciate between different weapons in terms of how hard they are to l
Hmm, so an army stack wouldn't so much be a collection of units as a supply of men (with varying degrees of training) combined with a supply of equipment? There would be a "default" config if necessary in order to display the stack as something other than a mass of men, but the army could morph into anything within the capacity of their equipment and training before battle? Does sound interesting, but I'm stil
Quoting vieuxchat, reply 5It was indeed too powerful. Those beasts should have a big big big upkeep (mana and/orgold/any currency (like sanity?) that can be in) When you got a worm you were almost indestructible. They ate five or six heroes for their lunch.I LOVE that idea. How about summonable creatures, limited to the Channeler's sanity rating? Research or Channeler levels could increase the amount of sanity a channeler has

As for elves, yes, I would really like to see them, but from what's been said the devs didn't want to do the ol' human/elf/dwarf/orc crutch again.
Having a unit be able to change equipment after construction (whether in the city, in the field, before battle, during battle, whatever) would be really useful and have tremendous tactical advantages... but the complexity of implementation would be significant and I think more suited towards something like the Total War series that is more about intense tactical combat. For starters you'd need: 1) the gam

A real time battle with pause is just like a turn based game. It just fasten it. Remember, you can pause. So you can't get a brain-ache.

Yep I've always asking where do come those items we found in dungeons? And why not losing some items (even the best ones) after a hard fight. You can't always loot everything. And a too powerful item lost in a battle would slowly corrupt land (or replenish it, or anything else that would be cool to see in a game) you could also lose some items even if you've won.

I'm really thankfull to them for their choice : no elve/dwarf/etc.. is a good thing in a market that has seen them too many times. It's time for more interesting things (even if I think the human/fallen thing is a bad bad bad choice. the good/evil thing is just too old. We need something more refreshing).

Yep, that's the good way of thinking. About switching weapons : that would be before the fight (unless you've been ambushed [e digicons]}:)[/e] ). And after choosing your weapons, spells, prepartion before fight then it launches. Maybe some kind of "initiative" traits for heroes would allow you to place units before battle. So you see you have lots of archers in front of you. You take grand shields. You have cavalry as opponents? You take pikes. Soldiers would need training in

That would be an awesome. Imagine that your map change with time. Not only through powerful spells but also with battles. And why not burned land after a tough fight that ravaged the land? Or tiles laid into desert?

I think really creating cart units or caravans for those things will becomae a nightmare in game. It needs a level of abstraction. Each army (like the fleet in sins) has a limited amount of supply. When you run out of them soldeirs have disease, and will soon begin to starve. And why not being able to choose the rations? Double and you have a morale boost .. but you won't be able to raid really far away from home .. unless you have some kind of magical supply or whatever. Anyw

And why not a system of "traits rearned" like in Lords Of The Rings Online? You build lots of civic buildings? your next research has a higher cahcen of getting a "civic" research. ;) So if you want to have a military research then.. build units, military buildings and so on.
Quoting vieuxchat, reply 24What do you mean when you want people that would add "content"? Content is a very open ended thing... It can range from making desktop images to doing reviews on the game to coding interactive stuff for the website like we did for the clansofsin database or the database we developed and for another site we set up: twoworldscraft.com. It gets some major traffic to this day and I have not had anyone to update it i

And why not adding supply has a resource? Each army has a limited amount of supply (food, water, weapons so you can switch them before fights). And when you have empty space.. you can take the loot :)

That was a good reading ^___^ Anyway I really like the way you see combat. May I add something? Damage is not a number, it should be a "state" like "fresh, fatigued, exhausted, injured, severly wounded, bleeding" and so on. Even from the core rules. Hit Points have just lived too long. A strategy game should really need something else than those numbers to show the status of a unit.

And why not some "magic" doctrines? Eye of Nowhere (use your magic to get better information) Magic technology (your buildings are speed up thanks to your mana) The force, luke. The force (you can use mana to improve relations with other players) Mass enlightenment. Each town with a mage tower will speed the process of making your people more fanatics

HoMM - tribe sof the east is the best : it take the best options from 3 and 4. With a real new faction (the orcs that don't have magic but blood rage). Everything that people liked about the 3 are in the 5. It's stand alone, and you can finf the two first campaigns on the net. So you can play each campaign with all the improvements of "Tribes of the east". The only drawback of 5 is the comp you need to run it with smoothness.

Yes that would let some kind of tight window to attack me. But in the medium and long run it can be really really powerful. But hopefully it can be balanced with how many xp you get from your heroes or the cost on enligntening your heroes :)

The trailer is just ... wow .. O_O About the interview I have a question : First they said you can imbue power to you rheroes. Second they say you earn a fraction of the experience earned by your heroes. SO ... won't be the "I split my power between lots of heroes" be the alph an domega of strategy? Because you'll become immensely powerfull really quickly. For instance you have 4 heroes, then you e

For sure gameplay is more important than realism. But the light/medium/heavy armor type is just ... not so good. the plate armor isn't the alpha and omega of armors. It has huge drawbacks, and only very well trained warriors could use it effectively. First : armor HAS to slow the wearer. The heaier, the slower the unit becomes. Second : special abilites. Maces were created to bypass shields. Halberds were a swiss knife : one part to make the cavalry fall, the one part to make

I thought about something else : the world would slightly change in favor of the element used the most. So each spell cast would have real impact on the world.
