Maybe I wasn't clear : yes I want the formula. After all I already said "I really want something that let me know what are the calculations behind" But I don't want to rely on a manual : I want the ability to get the formula in-game with combat log more or less detailed.

Or a fireball that explodes on contact ? Tht's not just "buffs". OK, a Fireball that "Burns" vs a Fireball that doesn't. Got it. Multiple Fireballs - aka "Fire Storm" A Fireball (or multiple) that track - aka "Magic Missile" I can't see where those satisfy the requirment of <br

What I'd like to be able to see (but an option could let player chose a simpler view of combat) is "AAA attacks. 15 ATK --> Roll 1, but 2 is the minium. BBB has 21 of DEF, rolls 3. 2-3 = -1. Attack failed" Or something like this. But if it's only "you hitted him for 3 points" would be not

I won't speak about the UI, it's a different issue. When you speak about magic what can you think of ? Magician waving hands ? Old parchments with strange inscriptions ? Fireball ? Flying ? Summoning pets ? Saying a strange sentence ? Rituals ? A lot of things are under the term "Magic". What would immerse the player and letting him think he is a magican ? He is searching for magic ? First I would say that I know some things that would prevent that immersion : when you

In an old old old dev journal, Frogboy spoke about a combat system where the game roll a die from 1 up to the max attack, with a minimum of max attack/10. Is it set in stone or can we try to convince dev to choose something better to simulate combat ?
What I would really like to see is the fact that stats are a little intertwined : instead of attack = strength * base attack / 10 it could be something like (STR*2 + DEX*1) * base attack / 30, so str AND dex would be important to get a good attack rating. Defense would use Wisdom AND dex. It would avoid uber character with 34 in STR and wiping everything. If you want to get a supercombat unit you'll need to invest in 2 stats instead of one.
We are in 2010, why limiting to 6 spells on screen ? The most important thing is to let the user think he holds a real book in his hand. MoM was good at that : flipping pages, discovering a new spell had an animation. I would love the ablity to add "notes" in the margin, like in real books. I'd like to see the most used pages becoming visually more "used"
You can change that in the options "Map environnement color" set it to 75 and you will see a big difference ;)
The editor seems rather good ... but ... those clocks to change orientation aren't really the best thing I can think of : how can you precisely adjust the wall tiles ? And be sure they are at the same scaling ? Is there a way to change the variables without using the clocks ? And will there be a way to change orientation with the keyboard AND mouse (while you're pressing x you change the X orientation, c the Y orientation, v the Z orientation) And the ability to change orientation of
Or add something like : each unit can only have ONE buff, unless you research "magical affinity" that would allow you to put 2 buffs on your units. "Great magical affinity" that would let you put 3 buffs. Or give buff spells a good cooldown like 5 or 10 turns. You could research advanced spells that would let you reduce cost/cooldown or rise the power or change the stats or add effects to your spells. For instance you have a fireball spell, you need to enhanced it to be able t
Just build wild gardens (with the appropriate spell) : it's 8 food.
When you read the description of a spell you can see "has a 25% + INT%/3 to blah blah blah". What would be more usefull is a "has 35% to hit", and if you mouseover the 34% you can see the formula. Sorting spells should be available : for instance I would like to see only the spells with a fire component, with no component at all, with less than 10 mana to cast, "terrain changing" spells, and so on. Giving life to the book : in MoM the spells wasn't readable, and whe
While you can recruit heroes that add gildar and research. You will fall behind to those players who not only have heroes but also buildings in resource production and research.
If heroes can upgrade there skills on level up then a hero could generate more research than an entire city. Could be set, optional, or random No way. The tech system is really appreciated by the devs and I really don't think they will change the way it works. A bit of random isn't a bad thing.
I could see it possible to "win" with only one city, but it better not be a piece of cake. With NO cities at all it better be a rush strat and the game better have had finished in less than 50 turns at most.
Think Sauron or Gandalf. With a sovereign as strong as those characters you could wipe out anything. And if you add magic ... And if you don't have cities you could get a lot of xp through quests and monster
They will just try to balance the fact that, yes, we will be able to win the game with only those few research paths. Someone should have a way to win with just heroes and no cities (or just one to be teleported if defeated). Moreover they already said that with magic you can transform your peons in powerfull warriors. So they want to test that and they disable warfare and civics, so we try that strategy.
When you're zoomed out and you initiate a combat you have to wait 2 seconds to see the result. The game is waiting the animation to be played. But in cloth map I don't see the animation. So couldn't we have the animation not being played when in cloth map view, so we don't have to wait for the animation ?
Good tactical needs : Placement of units matters : if you're on higher grounf you should have a bonus on damage but a reduced evasion, attacking from behind should give bonuses to hit %age, pincer attacks, ambushes in special squares Morale : it shoudn't be only bonuses/maluses. It should be about breaking, being pinned, fleeing in terror, being paralyzed by terror, being berzerk, getting less morale maluses when you get hit. If you have 1 hit point you shou
I will bow to your insider info but that answer doesn't actually resolve my worry. If the most powerful Book based spells remain Shard based, then how can I be assured that the map will allow for any Book choice to be at a best 50/50 chance of the dice? EVERYTHING in Elemental is overpowered. You start out with a shard in your area but maybe no food. Or maybe you have food but no metal in your area. Or maybe you have metal but
I too hope that there will be a visual effect that let you see that the improvment is connected to the city : a little dirt road fo rinstance or some people walking from the city to the improvement.
It's an old bug. I hope devs will find the solution to it.
