Elven Legacy is good, but really hard if you go "I want all gold victories". The expansion are really good, and a little bit easier but still hard. The thing you need to know are the effects of perks in game. Some of them are must-have and others are situational. A battle can be hard if you didn't wisely choose your perks. If you liked Fantasy General, take Elven Legacy WITH its expansion because they really add to the game. And it has nothing to do with HoMM :

That's why wounds would do well ;) Healing would just give HP back, not heal the wounds. Only time and sufficient magic/surgery can. So a unit witha wound of -25% that gets its full health back would still have a -25% effectiveness in battle. So first strike would be really really important.

+1 on the militia being an upgrade. But even without the upgrade there should be some defense from the city. For instance with no tech involved, each time a city is attacked the gam ewould spawn some peasants and one or two sergeant. A simple formulae like every 50 pop would get you a chance to have a militia and every 200 pop would get you a chance to get a sergeant. A tech would replace militia by hardened battlers and sergeants by captains. A city upgrade wo

+1000 on sliders. Being able to precisely change values is a must-have. About cloth map : I would also like to be able to zoom out further away in order to see the whole map whatever its size is.

You have two enemy units. one with 10/20 hp and the other with 20/20 HP. Each of them have an attack of 10. The first unit can do 5 (10 / 2) and the other 10. IF you kill the weakened unit you'll have a 10 attack in front of you. If you weaken the other you woul dthen have 10 (5 from the first, 5 from the second). BUT ! The system is uniform. So Two dice that range from 1 to 5 is a better thing than one unit that can range from 1 to 10 (because you have 1/10 to be hit wi
I think I agree with this. What do others think? Seems to me that operating a bow should be quite a bit slower. On the other hand, we might be able to just lower the combat speed of the weapon a lot and that would have the same affect. We do want to support a Legolas type unit if the player focuses on this.
A Legolas-character should be created with skills, not with usual stats and gameplay. Add a skill that let an archer draw two arrows but the second attack will suffe

I tried to create something with a french mooding by using the frequencies in french. But it does really nothing. I don't know english enough to create a good algorithm for it. In fact what I need would be a list of "cool" names for people and I would try to create a formulae that reflect that kind of names. I just don't know what names would be considered "cool" in english [e digicons][/e]

The real answer top dogpiling is wounds. A unit with full health attack at full power. Once they have even a little scratch they are less efficient. And with big wounds units would be even less usefull. For instance if a unit has 50% health then it gets a -25% in every stat it has. So full health units would be really dangerous and you would need to keep reserve units to help finish a hard fight. Heroes would get a skill that let them reduce the penalty.

Ok, finally that's a good idea for a "hard" map, where resources are scarce. But I don't know how to tell the computer that I don't want any more resources than those I already put. When I try my map it adds a lot of things. For instance there's only metal in the middle (near mountains). Here is the last screenshot I took of it :

You can use ' or " or even space if you use ALT+0160 (the non breaking space) so that you can generate names like Na'Sara of Kroomboly'

I'd like to know if anyone was successful in trying to mod that file. I tried to just modified it and copy it in my games/elemental/units folder with modified values (drastically, like no consnant and only vowels, or words with an exact length of 30à and nothing changes. I tried to put the new file in mods and allowed mods in-game. But nothing. Any clue how I could do it ? Maybe there's something hard coded, because all names have a capital letter at start but t
