Assuming by "patches" you mean DLC - either paid or free, else bug fixes. 64 bit steam workshop/better mod support - no more core files! Content - itemization, heroes, abilities, etc More unique factions with interesting mechanics (type of content) A way to speed up mid/late game - increased movement maybe? (by the way, I LOVE how multiple combats can happen in one turn). IMO - ignore scenarios/multi-pla

Save frequently. Some combats are stupid hard if you try it one way, but easy if to adjust. Something simple like focusing on 1 unit at a time, taking your licks and just focusing on knocking guys off the map can help. Sometimes its worth it to try to slow them/curse the enemy and sometimes its just better to try to clear as many as possible - lose the army and then come in with another army. Although at that point I usually just let the

I understand the AI cheats at higher difficulty levels. To an extent I don't mind it. There are a couple rules/mechanics/consequences that it is very frustrating to see flaunted. Resources. AI should still be forced to utilize resources to create units. AI should not be able to go into negative values for resources - gold/iron/crystal, etc. AI should get a (possibly dramatic) increase to resource acquisition

Well that sucks. Have you tried uninstalling, rebooting and re-installing? Seems weird that you can get into the game - load everything up, play the game for a few minutes and THEN it crashes. At that point everything should pretty much be loaded. If it was only off loading save games (like my earlier issue) it stands to reason something in the loading process fails. If its when doing X, it should be related to X. Y

I agree - I think the starting sov should be more buff. So I cheat. I jack up the difficulty but give my sov some starting equipment. I go through core armor, weapons and mounts and make some available. The founder of my empire isn't going into battle with a rusty shortsword. Takes about 10 minutes - just save a vanilla copy of the file somewhere. Scroll through the xml file in notepad. Change "AvailableforSovereign

So I'm 6+ hrs into a game now after some older mod compatibility issues. Like it quite a bit. While I like a buff to city locations - the lava river locations are a bit much. I love them, but I've found 2 4-7-4's so far. One for my capital, and one I've had to park a scout and have a settler go 14 turns to get to. The price is pretty high, they start next to an ashwake dragon guardian - but after A

Do you have any mods going? Any modified core files? Any previously created factions, sovereigns or units? I crashed everytime I tried to load a game, but knew it was probably because I was mucking around with mods. In the end I don't think it was the mods, I think it was some custom factions/units I had in relation to the mods. Cleaned out the custom factions and units (after turning off the damn steam synch - which kept

Just for future ammo, I'm having a similar issue. Started a game, played a turn. Did something dumb and attempted to reload the autosave - crashes immediately - before finishing loading. I have a few mods going, which is probably the issue. Just wanted to throw it out there. Actually - trying a few more times - I can't load any saves. I'll have to restore my game files and try to incrementally find the issue

Fixed is boring. Possibly a reduced amount - but its FUN to try to get one and then baby it to level it up. They have a tendency to howl and run straight into a spear. Maybe increase the pain in the ass level - which I don't really approve of - by making them more frail, increasing the magic resistance/resistance to beastlord. All of which just make it cause more reload, which also is not fun. Maybe +3, and

I never understood why Sovs start out so weak. I'm the damn progenitor of an entire race! I start an empire! I don't die! Why do I start with 20 hit points, maybe a rank or two of magic and if I'm lucky a rusty short sword. Why can anything other than the lowest tier critter eat me for lunch in the beginning. How do i raise my hand and suddenly an entire city comes forth.. yet all I know is a few measly spells. How can I no

It takes awhile, but it usually happens. I take the last city and just park next to his pitiful stack. He won't talk to you for awhile if he's the only other faction you have met If you have another faction met, he won't talk to you if you click him but if you talk to another faction and use the scroll arrows you can talk to him. If you keep pestering him for 1-X turns, he'll eventually surrender. Might be an exploit..

Yup, I've invested 400+ hours in Ewom, FE, LH (I think). I just re-installed MoM again and I'm playing that, its fun as hell still. The hero/enchantment/item/hidden goodie huts are just more fun. In that spirit I've invested in worlds of magic (I'm also vested in wasteland 2, the fallout pre-cursor). I might even pick up eador, broken worlds for $20 but might wait for a sail since most people are saying its just a remak

I'd be behind the initial step of: city attack uses all, all others leave 1 movement point or each attack consumes only 1 movement I would lean towards the first as the player would seemingly have a massive advantage with the 2nd scenario - Its not abnormal to make up a 5 move stack of doom. It would be rare for the AI to be able to optimize a stack in such a way that a) it had a bunch of moves and b) powerful enough that it

As I'm writing this I think the solution is that I need to play all these factions and create various levels of unit designs for them - they could be limited by not having a lot of designed units. Will need to check and see if I can find a good way to do it quickly. Anyway, on to the experiment. More starting gold (1500 per player, 15000 for AI) Bigger Sov - 12 customization points and free equipment More movement - All factions have

One of the most disappointing aspects of the game for me... awesome battle! I get a rusty breastplate? WTF?

13 Replies 17,058 Views

I agree - which is a huge sway in favor of the player. Subjectively I can't stand the idea of an entire turn only going 1 tile (i.e. stuck in a swamp). I've played a single game without master scouts and doubt I will again after like 400 hrs. I would be fine removing mounted additional movement from the game if EVERY unit had a base move of 4 - but that trivializes terrain for players that can deal with it.

I liked Warlock's unit level progression ability. The FE/LH units level up, but don't really get much than some hp.

Agree, any unit that can't eventually get at least 3 movement will get parked by me. I'll suffer the slow jug armies @ 3 moves with frenzy just because they're that awesome. They can then get to 4 with tireless march. Ascian COULD be an awesome unit, but I usually regulate it to the stack that just needs a hug.. hero to claim loot. I just got Mausolos for the first time last night too. Cool unit. 2 moves.&nbs

There are many great suggestions. 3 others that can be additive: Add a skill, trait or weapon ability to accomplish either of: Prevent a charge - Do not allow units moving 2+ tiles into my 1 range tile in the same turn. Turn one they can move into the 2nd tile away, I can then step in and hit them. Goals: Reduced first turn charge, able to build a wall or obstacles on the ba

Had the same, although I start the game with 1500 per starting player, so the AI gets 15000 to start. Very rarely do I see them even using that money - definitely not for rushing or buying the best EQ. It used to be that if you knocked off the final city that had all the almost dead heroes, you got their loot - doesn't seem to be the case any more. Am I mistaken?

I like the idea of a dragon Sov - could then make multiple copies and dragon vs dragon goodness. Could you make your final result available as a download please? Thanks

The faction - double strike and archery are nice. The blood trait - +3 attack and initiative if in groups of 3 or less, is less so. I'll never even hire a tarth champion unless I want to eat him or steal his gear. I'm experimenting with upping the blood trait to see if it interests me. Last game was +5/+5... still not really enough to make a stack of 3 really worthwhile unless its your super sov. Going to try +
