This could be cool as a mega-event? Will mega-events ala GalCiv be in? Otherwise I could find it really unfair and irritating but if there's a 'mega-events' option it sounds pretty cool :-)

Seconded. To be honest I think I'd rather the shop just be a 'boring old' dialogue menu. Faster and, as the OP said, I'm not really curious about what the shopkeeper looks like :-).
