Community will make or break you, Brad, and you know that. The fact is though, that you and Stardock have created a space where a community can grow and thrive. You are the architects of your own fate and I have confidence that eventually Elemental will be a joy to play (with many a nights lost to it!). For now, I am having trouble getting into the game, but each patch gets me to play just a little bit longer. With the post release support you guys pull off, I'll be playing for hours in no ti
Dras, got a question for you, I've been reading the dev journals recently and a major change to mana is coming with v 1.1 sometime in October, also population will be a resource now. Unless I miss my guess, a global mana pool with some things taking mana as upkeep should play into the Fury summoning system quite well. Since once a fury is summoned, the crafter shouldn't be able to use any of its abilities, we could see if its possible for a fury summon to essentially negates a crafter's mana
+1 I like this idea!
Kyrogre12, Thanks for keeping this list, it is awesome to see all the mods that are forthcoming and even out already! Drasnov and I are working on a new one we would like added to the list, Codex Alera: The Romanic Age . It is a mod that will be set in the history of The Codex Alera seires, focusing on the humans and their struggle to rise to power over each other. It will feature new techs, a new magic system, and m

Hello All! My name is Drakonfire, but you can just call me Drak. I recently read a series of Books called The Codex Alera by Jim Butcher, author of the Dresden files. The Codex Alera is a fantasy world filled with elemental magic, clashing armies, and struggles with nightmarish enemies. Of course there are mods being made for Elemental:WoM in the vein of LotR and Dragonlance/DnD/Forgotten Realms. I believe that The Codex Alera deserves to
Alright, it has been around a week since Arentol posted. Tomorrow, if he hasn't responded yet, I am going to create a new thread to keep track of this and submit it to the mod sticky thread.
just please dear god nothing like Space Empires V for tutorials... I STILL haven't gotten all the way through that thing... Yeah, word of mouth is awesome. I want to get a really largegame going and save it so I can show it off to people, but my computer is a little iffy right now, so its gonna have to wait. At which point the game will be so well improved through patches it'll be even easier for me :D
Perfect. Thank you very much!
I think creating a new faction as a basis for everything is the way to go. Maybe start out with Gaius, working on the passive bonuses for the faction (don't worry about balance right now) and custom tech tree. From there it should be a simple matter of altering each of the other custom factions from the template of the Gaius faction. Might be easier to go something like this: Faction Whole Tech Tree (the non-limited 'master' tree from which all the others will be deriv
Can champions initiate and complete quests? I've spent a lot more time messing with the files of the game instead of playing it lol so I don't know if they can. I was thinking of having champions as preset characters that do not gain furies. Of course if they can do the fury claiming quests then we would have to find a way to limit it or stop them from it depending on what direction we go with them.
I just did a quick and dirt
This thread makes me want to read that series, I have only read his dresden books and liked them alot...sorry for beinga bit off topic.
You should read them. They are excellent. Also, unlike the Dresden series (though I LOVE that series too) The Codex Alera series is finished, and is only 6 books long. One word of caution though, for me at least, the first book was frustrating as hell. Every 2 pages something seemed to go wrong, and
Thanks for the fix Das, works perfectly now. Now I just having to figure out what the frack I'm doing [e digicons]o_O[/e]
I think all those points are great but I am interested in your ideas for the use of furycraft. So for the weaker furies are you thinking of setting them up as spells that the Sov casts or as summonable creatures. Maybe have most of the crafting being in spell form and only the most expensive/powerful furies able to manifest on the strat map?
My primary concern with Furycrafting is that of manifestation. I think the smaller/weaker furies should be enhancement or utility
What I've got right now is that the sovereign is like a great lord. Able to control multiple furies which he can gain through study in furycrafting. So far I've been messing with it being in four levels: Basic, Advanced, Expert and Mastery levels. These each unlock a fury based on the element under study, which in turn has access to abilites (spells) that where normally tied to the manifestation of a fury in the books.
I had a sudden idea strike me as I was reading this

Just my 2 cents on this whole subject, as I literally 2 days ago finished the Codex Alera after 2 weeks of insane reading (I should NOT be staying up until 2-3 every morning reading, its just not smart when I have to get up at 7 the next morning...). I think that the Codex Alera would DEFINITELY fit as a mod for Elemental. The 2 mods suggested thus far are just that, 2 different mods. Arentol's mod would be The Codex Alera: The Romanic Age. I just updated to Beta 2. I was really excited to see the graphical side of this game after exploring the engine. However, I'm having a small problem. If I zoom in to the full graphical display of the game, it simple changes to a white screen. It is brightest in the middle and fades out at the edges of the screen, almost like a massive out of control bloom effect. I'm running Windows XP with all the latest updates, with an nVidia GeForce Go 7300, latest drivers according to nVidia, ev
Dominions III is definitely worth checking out. I haven't bought the full game yet, but I have played the demo quite a bit and have a friend who has played Dom III for literally years (and GalCiv II, and TW, and I think even EUIII, but Dom III) is definitely his fav. check it out here: http://www.shrapnelgames.com/Illwinter/DOM3/DOM3_page.html (PS: don't let the graphics fool you, this is a DEEP game)</
Er, its not new, but the only one I can think of is M.A.X -- awesome game! and if you want Civ in space, of course, and not "cities" then go check out Galactic Civilizations 2, of course!
Just for comparisons sake, the game runs flawlessly on my laptop Dell Inspiron E1505 Windows XP Pro 1.83 Core Duo 2 GB RAM Geforce 7300 Go 256 RAM Drivers updated 2 days ago from NVidia's site (since Dell hasn't updated their drivers in 3 years!)
I'm running avast currently as well, and just tried it. It crashed on the first go round, not good. However on my 3 subsequent attempts it has been fine. I did have a hang problem with Zone Alarm, but windowing Elemental fixed the problem since i could then "allow"
stupid question. Does this occur if you research the Kingdom tech tree?
