I would like to attach a different maul spell on weapons that, say have different "accuracy penalty", while keeping the Maul effect on monsters and the sort the same. Is this possible? I've looked at all xml files that contains maul, and none of them seem to deal directly with the maul scripts...
It will matter, because they will take all the cities where your one dragon isn't, if you even survive to the point of getting dragons with all that "wasted" tech (in the going toe-to-toe with the AI sense) to get to dance with dragons early as you are implying. Why aren't you complaining about the spell of making? It isn't balanced. It is a spell that WINS THE GAME. Your dragons have nothin
I, and my friends who played this game all agree that while the beginning of the game is fun and engaging, but the end game (post snowball) is extremely boring. After a certain point, no matter the difficulty, the AI is bound to be powerless against you. Unfortunately, even when you reach that point, ending the game would still take a LONG time, of boring unchallenging gameplay. And indeed, one of the best, and most done way of amending this is to add in Multiplayer. Players can make
The issue is he wants the game balanced around the difficulty he plays, instead of playing on a harder difficulty. If the devs make the game a "maximum challenge" on challenging, then why would we have any harder difficulties? Up the difficulty one step, the AI gets a small boost to economy, and they will no longer be fielding units equivalent to yours when you are fielding dragons. Playing with dense resources will almost a
Quoting Replicators, reply 21 So you are saying, it isn't overpowered if you choose not to use it(fyi, 1 dragon is enough to win the game)? No. I am not saying that at all. You are using a straw man. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man I am saying that the only reason you are winning with dragons is because you are outplaying the AI opponents. "And Oh ye
If you can beat the dragons guarding the dragon lair, and a single dragon can beat the AI, doesn't that mean you can beat the AI anyway? Isn't that the transitive property of dragon-slaying? Edit: I could have swore I saw Parrottmath prove transitive closure over the set of dragon-related combats in a thread somewhere here.
Assuming that I have enough forces to beat 1 dragon, and I do, with m
I can't believe this thread is still going. SevenAus, you AGREED with his suggestions? Are you all paying attention? The original poster is playing on challenging/normal. He clearly has played the game a few times. He likely is playing a huge map, with resources set to dense.
Dragons are at the end of the tech tree, require gold for the improvement and only have a few spots on the map to begin with (which are guarded by dragons)... They aren't unbalanced, they are the late game "if you're still messing around, here's something fun to play with" sort of unit.
Think of it as the game called "Age of Mythology", where the expansion packs adds
I think I figured out why. I didn't realize "Retire" button actually removes unit from the files, and since I retired the early units, they are all gone :( Thanks anyways

I've made many custom factions, and many custom units, however, this is the first time a faction never once built a unit designed for it. What could be the cause of the problem?
I can kill dragons using leather-armored spear-wielding horsemen and a decent champion or two. Perhaps the AI cannot do so, but that's more of a human-vs-computer issue than a game balance issue. It certainly helps for the troops to be better-equipped than leather and spear and for them to be reasonably high-level, but it is doable (though not necessarily easy). Multiple dragons in a single army (especiall

If I say built a dragon camp, and it spawns a dragon at say level 15. How do I change the files so that it spawns at say level 1? also, if I was to create a brand new mod, I only need to copy over the portion of the code I intend to modify, and not the entire file, correct?
I'd disagree. Level 12 commander= your other troops are attacking twice as much. have a late-game mage/archer (esp if Tarth) and command, there's a good chance your mage will be one-shotted. That +4 init really does make a difference. As for difficulty level : I'd say beyond hard it's irrelevant due to AI cheats which throw off the balance. You should balan
This, with commanders you can at least use command and the bonus initiative effectively. As soon as pikes are researched, assassins, defenders and warriors die in 1-2 shots. The complete lack of late game bows in 95% of games also makes archer assassins terrible late game as well. I agree with this game needing a a create hero button for a faction or allegience. I also think there needs to be an "Edit" button for Champions, factions, units, where it would actually overwrite the game files.

If you go command route- it helps early game, and battle cry is broken with the right lategame units, thoughgetting a sov to lvl 12 is tough (should cut one of the tactician and one of the +accuracy levels) Woudn't mind the +spell resist for armies/+defens
don't think dragons are a problem, to be honest. most/all of the victory conditions can be achieved before you even get there. i think it's just a little fun addition to the end of the tree to speed up the "mop up" phase of the game. like nukes and stealth bombers in civ games. My take on the paths: 3 numbers out of 10, 1st being early game, 2nd being mid game, 3rd being late game Mage: 5 - Good early game safe damage, but losses out in mana usage 8 - By now, mana issues should've been solved. Both summons, heal and spell damage trees shine really well here 9 - Now with full damage tree unlocked, the Mage becomes an unsto
1st of all, after 2 playthroughs of attempting to do the dragon statue quests, I cannot for the life of me find the second eye in any reasonable amount of time. It would be nice if, A. the quest spawns nearby or targetted quests that shows you exactly where the 2 eye quests are located at, or B, have a "reveal map" spell that reveals a large chunk of the map for mana, so you don't have to go searching for every inch of the map, or C, have all dragons drop the eyes until you hit 2 ey
