None of the download links works. If it's because of the ADrive 30 day limit, can you refresh the links please...? (although switching to a different provider might help)

According to Everest, my AMD/ATI 5870 has 1024MB of memory. Playing at 1920x1200 resolution, with AA off, 1024x512 map texture size, no shadows. Using an i7 920 6GB RAM, Win 7 x64, latest drivers... Not sure if this is related, but I also noticed my PC slowing down with a lot of hard drive access after a couple of hours (using virtual memory?), but this was resolved by exiting and re-entering the game. None of this is a major problem right now; I just restart
Ok I see - 97% of people don't click on the "see pre-release" option. (Although if they're on this forum, well they have little excuse to not click on it IMHO...) Regardless, as early as 2 days ago, I'd have said going to 1.1 would be a bad move. Even yesterday, I thought build t wasn't especially stable and the crash types were rather annoying. Today's build; build "u" is the very first version I would subjectively call "reasonably stable" (on my system); even
I don't think you get it. Think you're being naive to the extreme you think the reason for not releasing it is merely some 'personal peeve' The damn thing needs to be stable before the major 1.1 release. Stardock has built up some goodwill after the disaster that was the release, and if they release a similarly buggy version, they may just lose it. Only with the very latest patch (released today) does it seem more stable on my system, and even then I've had 2 crashe
It's already 'out there' in the form of the gradualy improving betas. If your reasoning is merely to have something better than the previous release version, then use the beta - there is no advantage to 'being patient' and not playing the beta.. If you find the current beta version too raw, then guess what your 1.1 is going to be no matter what it's called? Changing the name of .9x 'beta' to 1.1 'released' is not going to miraculously change anything. And releasing a
Same crash, same game as above, after about a further 1.5 hours (turn 311). This time the crash dump .zip was generated properly and I've included the debug.err immediately after the crash. http://filebin.ca/dxaadm/Elemental1_09u-2010-12-12T16-25-14-398.zip http://filebin.ca/vvpor/debug.zip That makes only 2 crashes in a
After two hours of play, the game stopped working with an "out of memory" error. The orginal .zip crash dump was a zero length file so I had to recompress it myself. Re-compressed crash dump here: http://filebin.ca/djvske/Elemental1_09u-2010-12-12T14-35-56-670.zip As for the debug.err, I ran the game after so the orginal has probably been overwritten. But it gave me another error (som
Ok - tried out patch u, and pretty good stability. Didn't run into any "load from within game" crashes during almost 2 hours of play - that is excellent. Just one "out of memory" error. I'll send in the debug if I can remember how to do that...
Hi - I haven't looked through all 5 pages so this was probably mentioned, but I've had some crashes with patch t, usually if I load a saved game from within my existing game. Some out of memory does occur late game, but that's not frequant, so you can go to 1.1 with that... Overall the game is much more stable, but the "load from within a game" crashes are the bigger concern. I'm going to try it with the latest patch (patch u I think) and see what happens.
Looks like they've taken out the natural ability for children to be able to cast in recent patches (i.e. patch s, t). And yes the ability for the in laws to cast is because the other sovereign cast imbuie on them... Personally I think that's a mistake because this means the children are merely just like any other champions; nothing special about them any more. Would be much better to have them as natural casters,,,
Unfortunately it crashes quite a lot for me. Using what used to be a high end PC about a year ago (i.e. AMD 5870, i7 920, Win 7 x64, SSD's etc.) with all the latest drivers so that might be contributing to the issues. I suspect I'd have better stability with crap hardware, old drivers, ancient O/S's, and less memory... Well at least the game is a bit more fun, and developers still working on it; maybe it'll be stable eventually.
At the end of the day, I don't care about the technicalities, that's for publishers to sort out. I look at the bottom line because, as a customer, that's what counts because it's real. And from where I am, the bottom line is that if I buy Civ V or SC2 or ME2 or BC2 ( etc etc.) I will pay "less" than Elemental. That's simply a fact, regardless of the excuses or technicalities. And the point of this whole thread. (Admitedly, if the release results could have ju

You're being oversensitive. Sure this is a moderated forum, but people can still express their ideas within reason. And if it doesn't do any harm except annoy you, well too bad for you. This is also a weak way to express your fustration - if someone annoys you, why don't you tell them (within reason) and back up your arguments rather than post a general "I am annoyed" message. Almost looks like certain people did annoy you, but you lacked the bottle to say anything to
You're quite right. Elemental was and is among the most expensive PC games to buy in the UK - more expensive than cheaper games like Starcraft II, Mass Effect II, Dragon Age Origins etc. Still, back in 2009, based on the hype along with Stardock's previous track record and standing as an independant, I was happy to pay a price premium for the Elemental pre-order/beta even if the product wasn't fully finished. Today, I can say it's not a terrible game but, in it's current
Not going to mention all the usual crashes, but the map editor crashes or runs into problems if you simply load up a map, then try loading another one up. Looks like you may not be clearing out everything before the reload attempt. (similar thing happened before when loading games within games, but looks like you fixed that) This is pretty consistant and repeatable - can make the game crash/hang updon 100% of attempts if I want. (And happened before but was hoping it
Yes - I have to admit I'm impressed by the number of patches and the efforts of stardock. I was seriously hacked off with the official release announcement and the results, but perhaps it's better to just ignore the terms used (i.e. next time consider calling it a 'supported release' or 'beta release' etc..) used and look at the action being taken. So good job, please keep it up until we have a polished product. And if some of the features in your patches upsets a few pe
Good idea with the global mana pool, but that takes away one of the big advantages of decendants. Their built in mana pool is what makes decendants special. Suggest having both the soverign and all decendants having mana usage without any maintance cost, while keeping the global mana pool maintence for everything else.
Without being overly philosophical and theorising about the whole industry and life in general, that is a great idea and the way stardock should go. In fact I thought it was the way they operated until they strangely claimed this product was "released"... Early beta testers take their chances and the responsibility that comes with using an early product. And you know what? That's fair to these people who take the risks and reap the benefits. What's far more unf
Workaround is this: place your first improvement anywhere. This automatically centers your screen. Then, without moving (except maybe zooming in or out if you wish), cancel the improvement in the build screen, and place the improvement exactly where you want. A bit annoying but you get used to it (and less annoying than the 100+ crashes when playing a typical game...and you get used to that as well eventually)
Ok, decided to make it crash again to get you the other log file. Here are the two (new) log files from this error as requested: - File "debug.err" from location "C:\Users\ \Documents\My Games\Elemental" is here: "http://pastebin.ca/1923826" - The corresponding dump zip file "debug.err" from the zip file here "C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Elemental - War of Magic\Elemental1_00-2010-08-24T01-35-01-78.zip" is located here: "http://pastebin.ca/1923832"
Game almost always crashes after loading a game while within the game, resulting in an ongoing buzzing sound from the speakers. Re-starting the game and loading the savegame works fine (rather than loading from within the game). Been happening throughout beta. Was hoping that the retail version would fix it. This is a repeatable/consistant error. Here's the log info: http://pastebin.ca/1923803 Any ideas?
Who cares about the spacing in his posts? He makes a valid point. The "invalid registration" was poorly done. Although now that it's been explained - fair enough we just have to be patient.
