It's technically two symbols, used by code monkeys because ≠ isn't a standard symbol (strangely enough). ≠ is still the correct symbol for not equal. != is just a barely acceptable stand-in. :p Edit:
[...] My first question is can we custom make a spell? When there is an existing “Doom Bolt” spell, it should easy to mod a “Super Doom Bolt”. But what if I want to mod a spells that does not look like anything shipped with the game? One of the ways to allow us to have that is having the right physics engine, and everything is broken down into its elementals. [...] </
I cringe a little bit when people suggest handling combat in Elemental like in Dominions 3. I have never played the game (though it seems like I game I'd enjoy), but there is a problem with it. It is catered to a small niche, which has a very disproportionate voice on these forums compared to the target customer base of Elemental. Do you imagine many of your more average TBS players wanting to script out all their battles?
Reminds me of the time my brother tried to swallow a lit shot of Sambuca. Ptooiii, and the table was on fire. :D
Possibly. We really don't know, right now.

There's thousands of possibilities. Water + Air + Earth = Earthen Ice Spikes. Fire + Earth = Volcano. Fire + Life = Rage. Earth + Life = Vitalize Land. Earth + Life (Death) = Darkland. Air = Tornado. Air + Water = Hurricane. Fire + Water = Boiling Rain. Air + Earth = Floating Plateu.
Is this thread broken for anyone else? It's like all borders and divides between posts have been broken up and stacked on eachother. Sorry for the OT, but it's horrible to read. :p Edit: Wonkyness has ended.
I read that if you pre order elemental you can get a playable beta version any truth to that?
Yes. All pre-orders are eligable to participate in the open beta. Note that the first stage of beta ("Alpha 0") is going to be reserved to a rather small audience. But yes, Stardock is known for long public betas with lots of player input.
Darkfall ban't for spelling ban't wrong.
Oh yee latecomers of little faith.
I have some hopes for this aswell. Have the devs actually talked any length on the subject at all? We know that Fallen/Human will be very different, but what of the kingdoms and empires within those races? Can we expect Twilight of the Arnor standard between the different nations, or just between the two races?
I believe it has been mentioned that regular humans are better with technology while the fallen humans are better with magic. It's an option given to those who don't like tactical combat and don't want to deal with it. If you take it away, what option do those who don't like auto-resolve have? None.
This is strictly something that you create for yourself, the game doesn't create it for you by having the option of tactical combat. But at the same time, when you're playing a generated map a big part of that *is* how lucky you get with resources. But no, it is not possible to win militarily against a militarily superior opponent because the lack of tactical combat does not allow it. You will never get a single battle win in your favor if you are consta
