The wither spell is broken FYI. It works I'm presuming as intended against single big monsters. When its cast on units with more than 1 individual, it automatically kills that entire unit. I was playing on the highest difficulty level and had the AI's turned up to the maximum. Before too long, the AI is creating really nasty military units. The wither spell is supposed to reduce the max hp's and offense by a certain percentage. Its pretty usef
The requirement for FE is that it must be awesome. That will determine the release date on it. It is substantially different from WOM though. So far, quite a bit more like MOM than WOM was.
So is FE really going to be more like MOM? This is pretty much what I think most of us wanted from the start. I don't know if you played X-Com, but I'm presuming you did. This is a link

Stable enough? I'd have to say yes. Worth your time? No. I came back after 6 months after the patches and magic overhaul for the 1.2 patch. It runs reasonably smooth. Its just boring. I've gone back to playing Master of Magic. There aren't any differences in the races. No special units. The vast majority of the spells aren't worth the mana to cast. Each game plays out exactly the same way. The overworld

Here's how you "Fix" the mega stack thing. Allow instant cast overworld spells that cost a TON of mana and brings down its effect on 1 tile. Like Call the Void, or Ice Storm from Master of Magic. If someone wan't to run around with1 gigantic mega army, then blasting it with an overworld spell to soften it up before you attack it would be great. There would be different spells for overworld depending on the books you have and how much mana you want to spend to blast the

Ok, so the expansions are going to be free. That's been stated before. Are the expansions going to download automatically for the people that bought the game early? Will Impulse just know that I bought the game early and allow me to download the expansion? I'm not sure where my receipt is. I had to buy the game through Amazon as Gamestop and Best Buy didn't have Elemental and they hadn't even heard of it.

I desperately want item enchanting. I too am putting Elemental on the shelf for atleast 6 months to keep my frustration to a minimum.

Dear Frogboy, Having created systems from scratch (albeit on a much smaller scale than a computer game with the scope of Elemental), it may be easier if you scaled up the numbers a bit to go back and tweak things from a balance standpoint. Instead of having the Sovereign generate 1 mana per turn and having shards generate 1 mana per turn, and having spells cost 2 mana or 3 mana or 4 mana, I suspect it would be easier to go back and tweak things if the Sovereign generated 10 mana

The cloth map doesn't need to be cluttered with obtrusive icons, there just needs to be an option to flip on "obtrusive icons" of a paticular type of resource that you are looking for while on the cloth map.
A fireshard is hard to find on the cloth map? Something can't be right... it's a red crystal, should pop out like an eyesore among all that blue icons.
Yeah, you'd think it would have stuck out. It didn't. what do the shards look like after the improvement has been broken? It had to have been inside one of the enemy capitals that I captured, cluttered by other building. The only thing that really stands
Brad, I think the lack of spells is a problem - can we have a thread where users suggest spells they would like to see, this way we'll get many different ideas for different elemental spells, different books, far more than you could generate at Stardock alone. Then I'm sure balancing them wouldn't be too much extra overhead if all the spells are balanced in one go - especially compared to the benefits. This would&n
Try turning on cloth map only when you have throuble with such things; it makes things less cluttered and easy to identify for me.
Yeah, I did this, and it helped a little. But still, there are hundreds of blue icons on the cloth map. It would be nice if I could hit a "resource" button from the cloth map and have only resources pop up. And then maybe have a check box where I could go down th

These suggestions are pretty trivial compared to the magic overhaul which reportedly is in the works and artifact creation, but something that I found myself annoyed with. When your empire starts to get a little larger, its often difficult to locate resources within your own territory. I had a shard extractor destroyed by roaming monsters. I wanted to go and rebuild it but I couldn't find the fire shard anywhere. I looked for an hour before giving up and I

Ok, I'm going to try to calm down and be civil here. I'm not going to play a fantasy game where I can't create artifacts for my heros and I'm not going to play a fantasy game where I can't cast big time overworld spells (from Master of Magic, think Armegeddon, Meteor Storm, Time Stop, Suppress Magic, Nature's Wrath) Those are the bare minimum requirements. Heros need to play a much bigger role, partly through the creation of artifacts. And Magic needs to play

Absolutely not. Well, its exactly like MoM if you took out spells, heros, races, and artifacts. Other than those things, its pretty much like MoM. There aren't any spells like Armegeddon, or Meteor Storm, or Suppress Magic, or Nature's Wrath, or any of the other overworld or city spells that made the game fun. Elemental does have a few spells like level 1 fire nuke and level 1 air nuke and level 2 fire nuke, and level 2 water nuke, and level 3 fire nuke,

Lets say I have a degree in something other than "hacker". What do you mean I have to play with XML files? What do I need to do in game that will allow me to create items for my characters.

This game has frustrated me so much in its inability to live up to Master of Magic, that I've been inspired to quit playing Elemental infavor of going back to Master of Magic. A nearly impossible feat considering much I love 4X games. The amount of time spent playing the Civ series, Master of Magic, Orion, Gal Civ, etc. is immeasureable. Basically, all you have to do is put out a mediocre 4X game and I'll put in 100's of hours playing it. I just don't understand how

Is item creation possible, and if so, how? I can't find such options anywhere in the game.

What really helps make heros interesting is the "one man army" aspect to them. Customizing their gear for specific tasks. In Master of Magic, you could end up spending 100+ turns or more equiping just 1 hero with artifacts, but when those artifacts got equipped and the hero had a few levels under his/her belt, they were one man wrecking machines. That was a lot of fun. Unfortunately there is no such feature in Elemental. I'd love to see huge overworld spells.

When your empire starts to get a little larger, its often difficult to locate resources within your own territory. I had a shard extractor (or whatever its called) destroyed by roaming monsters. I wanted to go and rebuild it but I couldn't find the fire shard anywhere. I looked for an hour before giving up and I lost access to that fire shard for the remainder of the game. Extremely aggravating. What if my ogre village or dragon brood, or whatever got destroyed a

Right now, magic becomes obsolete midway through the game (and so do your heros) once you've researched enough combat tech's. The spells just don't do much damage. Also, there just aren't any spells in the game that effect everything in the world. It would be really cool to have huge spells that could affect the whole world positively or negatively. Tie it in to the shards. Require control of multiple shards of the same time. Have
