Any post involving carriers! Just the thought of carriers in the game is amusing! Hitchhikers thread you say....might have to have a look in. Oh i saw a very funny thing on the news last night here in Australia A fellow Aussie Mystikmind, cool! Can't say i'm a fan of the Sims games either, and i have nev

Are there any plans to update DL with some of these improvements as well? Good point Moose. I still play DL quite often, in fact that is where i play with mods, so i would really love to not see DL get left behind. Although, i can already feel the hammer falling.........

Thankyou Mumble, i suppose i will eat my words a little. 4 Million points!!! Yes in that instance some form of correction is warranted, but perhaps a compromise or official notification on-behalf of AW would have eased the situation. Nevertheless, it was sometime ago, no need to dwell.

Can't say i really agree with someone's account being nerfed for exploiting a "loophole". Granted i do not know the circumstances of that situation, but if his game was not cheat flagged it should stand, regardless of the ethical/morale debate of how said score was achieved. Like i said, i had not heard about this till now and there is prolly more to it....by the way anyone know the score he got or is there a thread about it? <a href="http://altmeta2.thegalacticcore.com/ch

Going to war early is a great tactic...but it does need one thing. You really need to have a far better diplomacy skill than your intended enemy, that way you are the one dictating when he war ends, ie, when and if they get too much for you, you can bail when need be. If you can take a few planets and destroy whatever ships you come across the AI will fold easily. I don't mean to stay at war the whole game from this early on, but i find it far easier to out colonize the AI when my right

Why not just take the *!#$%@ planets? True, very true. In early game i never build anything unless it is a colony ship or a survey ship. Even constructors get the boot until about 3 months in, which at about the same time i will have some attack 5 fighters too. If the AI is still colonizing or he has resources i want.....well by this point, what's mine is mine....and what's his is ...mine too!!!!

So if you do some blockading, it'll work, just not on the big grand scale that's being proposed here. I don't think that's the best use of your limited economy. This is my point. The amount if ships one would need to pull this off on a gigantic map is unthinkable. Your economy would be in shambles, and on suicidal, i just can't see how one can outproduce the AI at the start of the game. Matching them is hard enough but for the first 10-15 turns they are

I've only read Hidden Empire, Forest of Stars and Horizon Storms. I have not got the next two yet. I Hear number six is out soon.....I should really catch up. i got this thing about netural at the moment, never mind, it will change when i play a game i always played neutral in DL, but Da has changed the terraforming so much it is no longer worth it. Plus i tend to go to war very early now, in the first year at least, so having evil weapons gives

Wow, except for the fact i'm still stuck on challenging/tough. I can do gig/abundant all/9civs on painful, but on average it takes me nearly 20 years hehe... I did do one in 9 once....but it was not a MV game I think a Top 25 medal each would look rather nice. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc

Love the attitude! what i just wrote down was straight out of the user manual. And you are correct, but starting advantage does not equal "upper hand". and the 200% thing isnt the starting money, it's the AI's weekly income. Yes i understand that, but from i think crippling (might be wrong where) and

I try not to stray too far away from the miniaturization tree until i have that Hyperion Shrinker. I find it's power to be invaluable. Once i have it though, yes, it makes more sense to be going up the weapon tree as it benefit's you in more ways. You save space with the smaller weapons and of course the more powerful weapons themselves. I would say though, that miniaturization is needed more in DA than DL. Size 35 engines on a huge hull, imagine that without having any miniaturization

Hi all, after spending the last year or more as a frequent user on this forum i got to thinking. As useful as this forum is in GalCiv talk, i have found it to be a great place to find a laugh or two as well. Be it a quirky comment in an AAR or an off topic subject or even the many, many smart ass responses/posts, i have found myself having quite the chuckle, something i did not expect to find here, and have not seen on other game forums. (Rise of Nations comes to mind here....sigh!) So,

(this is were the AI's get the upper hand) Having bonus's and extra cash like the AI does from painful and above does not translate into the AI having the upper hand. They have a head start, yes. They are in better shape for about the first year, yes. None of this is insurmountable though. After about a year most players will have forged ahead of the AI and their starting bonus's now amount to nothing. No "upper hand" by any means. Remember no g

never so much as think you can join my empire Why o' why would you think i would want to join your empire? Do as you wish and play as you wish, but i just can't believe your wall of ships tactic on suicidal. Show me a screen shot and i'll eat my words, untill then i will assume you are talking out you arse!! For example, if you're playing Korath, don't even bother colonizing. Why colonize when you can spore?</

It's nothing personal, but what you want to say and what you you have said may be two very different things. And nothing written here which you consider "against you" is close to the wrath you would incur if you stray to far. This means you Evil! Also nice to see your partner in crime is back...Good to see Wheel is alive and well! Y'know what is scary

Posting a defeat, well done!! Hoped you learned what hindered your victory, as CornhuskerMac said, a defeat can be the first step in taking a huge victory on a harder level. Helps if it pisses you off a bit too

Exactly! Except I can do it in fewer years. I can hear you snickering Purge, kinds sounds like Mutley from Wacky Racers Jokes aside, would the average time be around 7 years? Not including the upper echelon of players, like the two geniuses above who can destroy t

No they dont, if you play on higher levels the Ai will get the upper hand. The AI will get the upper hand??? NO. They have advantages but if the AI gets the upper hand it's because you were outplayed, many players defeat 9 civ's on suicidal within 6 to 7 years. they get an economy bonus Captain Obvious everybody! Well, nearly.....

This is priceless!!! I think this AOL baby needs a change! cheats? there are cheats for galciv2? Your enthusiasm for this confirms that you are over your head and have no idea about this game. Go play with your cheats......

121 Replies 42,661 Views

Well, that's DEFINITELY not true. AI colonizes whatever it comes into contact with first, except PQ1. Yep. This is exactly the case and i have not seen anything to the contrary. Not sure what you are about LostHero, but you really need to pay more attention in your games, and try and leave the fairy tales at home.....(sigh) a wall of ships on suicidal around your entire space....now c'mon (sigh)
