So easy to be a troll these days.
I've gotten a lot of questions from people over the past couple of years about why we are giving away Fallen Enchantress to the early adopters of War of Magic. They say people won't remember War of Magic (it was 2 years ago). They say it won't "buy" good will back from those who didn't like WOM.
I`m getting Fallen Enchantress for free. I can`t speak for "everyone" like the smart marketing guys always do but I wou
Don`t want to patronize or sound obnoxious, but you really could just use a much nicer tone to your post and get your message across the same way. I`m willing to bet that a post that is better worded and well-mannered would get much more attention from the people that actually matter. Your tone might generate some hype in the forum, internet loves some flaming, but it might also alianate your target audience, the developers.
To respond to your first question, it might hurt your feelings but I would just call this Fallen Enchantress and move on from WoM. We don`t forget about WoM, it was part of the path that made the new game possible, but I`d just move on from it now and embrace the new game as it was always meant to be. I would like to see a spell to enchant roads and a spell to teleport items between champions. Quests, quests quests. That is an unfair question. Nob
What a great improvement to the game Beta 4 turned out to be. The future is looking bright and I think it is time to go over a very important aspect of the game that still feels...outdated. [ROADS] Ah! The all important and onipresent feature in any 4x game that isn`t set in space. Roads in FE are still a crude leftover of WoM and it is about time for it to get a makeover. Now, I might be wrong but I get the feeling that the
I love steam. It totally changed the way I`m able to enjoy and play games. Living in Brazil it is more often then not very difficult to buy games at retail stores, not only the stores themselves are a dime a dozen but many titles face localization and distribution problems in South America, that is when they are available at all. For many years the only way to buy a game that I enjoy (which are usually not sold here) was by asking someone abroad to send to me, buying while traveling or simply
Fantastic! Sounds like a lot of good reasoning and I can`t wait to see how it will balance out.
Brewery- Reduces Unrest and reduces Production
Sounds a bit too policaly correct doessn`t it? Why does it have to lower production? Instead it should give a small bonus to growth, brewing used to "clean up" water and increase health.
Looking good. We can already see your touch Kael. I hope the team doesn't take offense to me saying that a revision of story elements, like creatures, was much needed to spice up a rather bland world. Remarkable work, I'm sure a lot of people deserve credit for this but for me at least it seems like your fantasy touch is fitting like glove to EWM.
Pshhhh...enough about this nonsense special ability discussion, let's hear more about Kenata's day, what did you do, how was it, what does Stardock look like and the team. Oh...a personal one...did you talk to Jon about...you know...that thing which can't be mentioned? Oh...how I wish that could be discussed. bad NDA bad NDA

I have been very upset with my latest pre-orders to the point that I have come to terms with the fact that I won't ever be buying a game at (or before) release ever again. I have no problems waiting a year and getting them on sale without the major bugs. I'd make an exception

Granted Brad also had a good share of just how bad it can get when you try to read forums following a game release that for some reason didn't please everyone but your experience must be quite unique. Frogboy if you happen to come around this thread there is one thing I would like to know. I've read a post from you before where you mentioned that Steam/Valve and Impulse/Stardock were not that different in size and/or capital. Yet on this interview you define steam as being ahead in capital. I'm curious as to just what this disparity is and how does the digital download world ranks steam, impulse, Gamersgate, D2D, GoG etc. Also, if you please post your speach
He needs to "answer" for what he has done? C'mon get over yourselves. I bought CIV5 special (or elite or collector or whatever it was) edition a few days before release I just couldn't resist playing what I imagine would be one of my favorite games. I played the game for about 8 hours, two or three days before realizing it just wasn't fun at all to play. I kept it on my hard disk untill the patch and after playing for a while after the patch I uninstalled it and just cu
I really think people are making too much out of this. The last feel days I played Fallout and Master of Magic and GoG.com was offline. So they were planning a big hard and software update and decided to make a little stunt out of it? Really not that big of a deal. Honestly I'm glad a lot of people are now aware of this great service. GoG games aren't like Steam. They don't have to "be up and running" for my games
@kaiapo On the other hand, considering that those were developed by Stardock there should be no reason to assume that they would be on another site. Similarly, you won't find any of the half-life games ending up outside of steam. When a DRM system offered up for free locks down a third party game to a single DD system, that is anticompetitive behavior.
So, it is ok for "some" to be cutthroat but
Quoting Haree78, reply 8I'm happy to say I have no idea what everyone in this thread's issue is. This means Valve has kept anyone else from being able to sell this game, especially Stardock. Anticompetitive behavior.
You do realize that there are games that are sold ONLY on Impulse right? Have you ever wondered why you can't find GalCiv2 on Steam or Gamersgate?
So... Elemental's combat is going to suck for another year?
From what I understood this expansion/megapatch would be for around November or so.
The OP have some very interesting points and +1 for saying it in a very constructive and polite manner. I agree with most points and totally agree about combat. A lot of what he said about combat can be said about the magic system as a whole.
C would be free to those who own the game by September 30th. What I'd like to see happen is for Elemental: War of Magic to continue to be refined with its existing game mechanics largely intact other than the change to the mana system and UI update scheduled for v1.1.
This is something you guys need to decide fast and stick to the decision. I would add that it is a classic concept for our capitalist society. But there are other examples through history. If you ever played Children of the Nile, for example, you would have experienced a society (Egypt) based on food as the means to trade anything. So in a sense caravans that "produc
I agree with everything except the game wasn't really well balanced. You could win the game in a few turns by having the correct book combination that gave you a powerfull summon to own the map. Does "Torin the Chosen" ring any bells? That said it is a fantastic game.
Always! Although I would never say " unconditionally". My support is based on several conditions, including: Good business practices Honesty Great communication skills Respect of your costumer base etc... As long as these conditions are true, Stardock is allowed to make mistakes and still get my money's worth.
