As someone who have been in the "Elemental" boat since at least Beta 1, my analysis is that Stardock reached the limit of its capabilities versus their ambitions with this game. All the "new stuffs" for this new Intellectual Property were simply to much for Stardock to swallow in one big gulp. I was certain that the Day 0 release would be relatively playable but plainly off the mark compared to many players expectations which is why i'm not surprised of the complains. The good news is

After reading much about the map generation. First people should remember that this is the very first Elemental thus they must not '"Require" the very same level of map generation fine tuning as Civ which happens to be in its 5th installment. That said i think it could be mutually beneficial for the players & Stardock to have full random map back in the map choice menu. The map choice menu should offer explicitly 3 choices: - Fixed map - Semi-random
The question is not load time of the vanilla version of the game as a binary would be generated only when the game will be updated but rather load time for "mod & modding intensive players". Will the binary be "wholly" re-generated every time we launch a new game after changing our mods and/or mods option? Thanks.
Select the resource. You will see the build option icon. This button may not click-able if you do not have the resource required for building. Over on the build option icon to know the cost of the building.
The issue is Havok 64-bits. There will be certainly a 64-bits version of the game just that the Havok part may only be 32-bits.
Why would we need a cloth map in a game with a cloth map? Not to mention, random terrain generation isn't real compatible with a physical map... Now a tech tree layout, that would be a nice kick start.
Tech tree can evolve for balancing issue even after release of the game :( I am not interested in trinkets & other dust magnet collector goodies.
Not uber fan of collector edition because the "collector" content is rarely worth it. Bold suggestions: - Game soundtrack - Artbook - In game contents similar to the ones for GalCiv 2 - Exclusive My Color theme like for Sins of a Solar Empire - Getting the game on an USB key drive instead of a DVD
Ascendency had a lot of great ideas in it but bad Ai sealed its fate :( How many many hours i spend in it.
Impulse integrate an irc. Just need to input /join #elemental
I just ran the program for the first time. Asus G71G laptop running Windows Vista (about the best gaming laptop out there at the moment). First impression: Full screen. That may be good for the full game, but for the beta, I think you need a windowed mode. It'll be easier to type comments in another window that way. Second: When is the menu going to appear? The starting screen with its nice sentence down there is fun but I can't click a
The game will offer more flexibility. The principe is that to build a city anywhere you have to pay with your personal essence meaning a weaker mage. Then there will be spot where you can build city for free. You must probably clean the spot from some monster nests first. So you can either start with weak mage + many cities or strong mage + few cities. Free spot being a drive for exploration & conquest.
Personally, I would like a nigh-endless tech tree, so there is no max tech. The ideal length of tech tree is one which has no end. It is alway moddable. What is less modabble is the quantity of RAM you have in your computer. Bigger armies means more RAM load. Time to upgrade to a 64 Bits OS perhaps ? People tends to focus on bigger map = Bigger RAM but with crazy modding we can have bigger city = bigger army = bigger ram
From the early screenshots of the game they are using days as the turn unit in the game.
The real question is how much omniscient are each player is on his/her land. We can divide the spy job onto 2 categories : - Intelligence gathering : Passive form you discuss with foreign marchants about their contry and cities or you send someone travelers into that contry (tourist mode on) Active form you pay for the information with bribes or you try to infiltrate enemies a casern or research facility. The kind & the qualit
You can already do it in GalCiv 2 so why not in the futur Elemental.
That was discussed here too : https://forums.elementalgame.com/330104
Gold++, Platinium, partner with MS. Even more i think, they can extand that partnership futher marketing side-wise as Elemental is one of the few game that will howl 64 bits OS developed and optimized.
Epic story generator == Devs killer fonctionality I won't come for cheap.
nice, does it do crossfire? (that is radeons answer to SLI right?)
We can even find HD4850 crossfire ready set bundle.
Epic Strory Generator = +$10 feature in Elemental I really think that the ressources needed are at least equal to the time spend by Stardock to make their multiplayer plumbing. I understand that Epic Strory Generator is going to be next most asked feature in Stardock games and it will probably take them the same time than including the multiplayer in their game.
We might need an AAR sub-section way latter. As there is no information about the epic story generator in Elemental.
8 gigs !!! Zoomba is ready to play the XXXXXXXXXXL size maps of Elemental. The HD4850 has the best performance/cost.

Although invisible spies could also be cool.
Counter with magic that block scrying and we are back to old school spying. Beside the quest victory will require some infiltration as you might need to explore a dungeon deep inside the enemie territories.
