I'm personally reviewing all the spell XML and I want to let you guys know that changes are coming. We're looking into separating the hit and damage rolls for offensive spells. The hit roll will be caster INT vs. defender DEF. The damage rolls will be between a min and a max value, not just from 0 - max. Here's the fireball description in my current build: "Target enemy unit is hit with a

You can't. Certain creatures do, but not all (I have a fire elemental that does but my earth elemental does not). Some children regen mana during combat as well.

I've noticed that after a number of battles the HPs of my units has increased significantly if I look at the unit while in the strategic mode or if I let the battles autoplay. However, when I go into tactical combat, the game seems to revert to the original HPs of the units.. or at least to a # that is significantly lower than the # shown in auto battle or on the strategic map. Anybody else seeing this? Also, where can you see the "level" of the unit? I know they m

I did the same thing and didn't notice an immediate effect. I did notice several turns later that the prestige in all of my cities had gone up by 2 points. It may be worth testing this and seeing what's going on.

Where's the option for I like it, but it needs a LOT of bug fixing work. Magic shards don't work. Tactical combat spells are broken. We need a way to turn off casting in the quick auto-combats when the disparity in combat strengths is significant. I keep seeing other city names over my own cities. Confusion is broken. Ridiculous memory leaks causing me to reboot my computer every hour. Etc etc. Lots of issues. Either Stardock didn't test

It's strange - I've never had a problem with food in the 4 games I've played fairly extensively. Like someone mentioned, there's a research path in the adventure tree that unlocks new resources. I believe the third in that tree unlocks food resources. Once you do that, and once you start building things like irrigation and other food bonuses, you'll have TONS of food. I've never been limited in how much I can grow any of my cities (even when I had 30+ cities) because o

Yes, you need to research adventuring tech - namely the quest line (not the heroes line and not the resource line). Eventually you'll level up your notable level and your quest level.

I had about 40 cities in my last game. I was building them around every resource I found and then i would fill in the empty area with cities as well. Once you research the adventure tech that lets you see additional food resources, you're pretty much overflowing with food. I still had a bunch of spare food even though 35 of my 40 cities didn't have a food resource next to it.

Generally good post. But you have a lot of factual inaccuracies that tend to mar your overall position. I'll just hit a couple of them briefly: 1. It's very easy to get a level 5 city with just a few houses. It just takes a long time (the city with the palace gets there fairly quickly). Upgrade your housing tech and you won't need more than a few houses. My last game I had 4 level 5 cities fairly early in the game. 2. There are a ton o

For what it's worth - I just encountered the same thing, but the troll shaman actually cast confusion on me 4 times. With the first cast of confusion, I would go into - attack. With the 2nd confusion, I returned to my normal attack. With the third, I again went negative. With the 4th, I went back to normal. So it was like casting confusion and then dispelling it with the 2nd cast. After the battle my unit was normal (no insane stats).

If it makes you feel better, I still haven't even figured out how to get married. And I've played a couple games to the bitter end. =)

I'm really enjoying the game so far. The new patch today fixed some of the bugs I was going to write about, so that's a great first step (e.g., the fire giant not able to cast his spells). Issues I'm still encountering: 1. When I build certain buildings, I'm able to build them again even though they should be unique. 2. Still getting mem leak crashes. Gets worse as the game ages. Running Win 7 - 64 bit. Using NVIDIA, not ATI. <p

[e digicons];P[/e] I don't use ATI and I'm still getting the mem leak on Win 7 - 64 bit. So it's not limited to you ATI users!

Not sure about upkeep - I had a +1 food and a +1 materials spell going on my main city. To cast them, you need to be standing next to the city with the champion/sovereign. Then bring up the strategic casting menu. Click on the spell you want, then click on the main part of the city. The tile should turn either green or blue (can't remember which) indicating that you can cast the spell there.
On this note is there any way to disband/raze your own cities? I captured a minor one as well and want to get rid of it as its in the middle of nowhere
Yes, you can raze your cities. I razed a couple that I captured from an enemy. You just go into the town and the option is in there somewhere. I don't have the game up so don't remember where it was exactly, but it wasn't hard to find.

I think there is. My chain lightning spell is the only one that seems to be working properly.
You could have a re-train building. A unit returns to a town with this building and it allows the unit be converted to unit type that have been upgraded. Space Empires IV had something similar with the retrofit option but that had some additional rules to stop an abuse (something about converting a Ship with 50% different components)
That could work - so long as there was a relatively decent cost and production time for the
Quoting dawgs4ever, reply 4 Like he said, we're giving up until a new patch comes in. Still, very frustrating. So until tomorrow afternoon, then?
We'll see. It doesn't sound like the day 0 patch was intended to fix any bugs. More of a polishing/content patch. We'll see if it fixes the memory leak issues.
