Great job guys. Looking better and better. I have still noticed a couple of issues with tactical combat (though cannot say how to reliably reproduce, sorry): Still see occasions where units will attack, show no damage number (or "hit" sounds) yet the unit takes damage. Unit says dodge or block, but still takes damage Damage received is different from the damage shown on the screen. These are a lot better in 1.09p, but

The update 1.09n is considered a "beta" update. You must have your options setup in Impulse to allow notification/update of beta or pre-release updates (cannot remember exact text).

Sounds great from what is there. I had one question based on how the AI will makes its decisions. Does the Player Strategic AI thread take the Faction's "personality" into account when making decisions? Or will it simply make the "best" decision? For example, will all AIs decide to research or build up more military if the Human starts building up military or will military factions focus on military and diplomacy factions focus on diplomacy? Or this this more of a "d
8. The AI never seems to accept treaties even when it is in their favor. When I say favor I mean at least a 10% increased perceived value on their side. I find that if I need something, I need to make a disproportionate trade request. As an example, I attempted to form a trade treaty with someone. The treaty ended up being something like 2.15 gilder versus 1.98 gilder per turn. In order to complete the trade, I had to add something lik

Number of counter-attacks appears to be linked to combat speed, just like other attacks. When the unit hits a combat speed of 0, e.g. used all of its moves, then it can no longer counter.

My sov. has this issue and they are race/faction Tarthan and class/profession of Thief. The boots simply do not display in the list of items to purchase (same holds for some of the cloaks(scout cloak and traveller's cloak).
We just blew it on so many levels that it will require a detailed post-mortem (which I do plan to provide so players, customers, and others can learn from our mistakes in general and my personal mistakes in particular).
This is one of the primary reasons that you guys rock. You aren't afraid of admitting your mistakes, and you take correcting them to the next level. Not just getting past them yourselves, but putting

I wonder if this would be valid as an option, such as Number of Planets or Number of Anomalies. Something like that where you could set the frequency of random events in the game setup. Thoughts?

I haven't run into that before, but have heard of people experiencing a similar thing. Make sure to hold onto the save games where you can reproduce this, as Stardock will more than likely be interested in them. And probably the debug.err file if you still have them.

I have seen in 1.1 that you can ally with a race that is Friendly, but not always. In my last game the Arceans were Friendly with me but I didnt have the Alliance option in the trade screen (they had the tech because i gave it to them). I gave them a few more gifts, relations still said Friendly, but then I could ally with them. I have noticed that it seems a little harder, depending on the race, to move their relation with me, but I can still get diplo victories.

The only thing remotely close to this that I can think of is back in the day of actually worrying about/configuring IRQs you could have a similar situation when an IRQ was being shared between your mouse and your sound card. Whenever you would move your mouse you would here "static" through your speakers. Doubt this is it since Windows manages (in theory) IRQs now. Thought I would throw it out anyway.

Steve, one problem you may be having is that you just moved the HDD from one machine to another without actually installing the program on the new machine. This results in missing registry keys. You may need to actually install the game on the new machine. To resolve the serial vs SID problem, in the game's install directory you should find a file named sig.bin. This file stores information with the SID of the originally install computer. Remove this file and you should be able t

from the wiki Link Repair is a racial ability that increases the ability to fix your ships if they took damage in combat and survived. Factors like racial ability and nearby starbases with repair bays can increase your rate of repair. A ship in orbit of a planet has double the normal rate of repair.

This is what DXDiag reports. You can run DXDiag independently and see these numbers. I have a static page file set (765MB) myself, but when I run DXDiag it says 641MB used and 1051 available. Also, when I use System Information (programs-accessories-system tools) it shows Page File Space 1.65GB. This has nothing to do with Stardock and everything to do with Microsoft. I looked around the internet but could not find anyone that could explain why th

Installed Beta4B this morning and started a new metaverse game using small galaxy, blind exploration and a custom race. Start the game and I get the GNN screen that is at the start of all new games, then my tech tree for choosing what i want to research and then I get a message saying that the Thalan's have just completed a new Galactic achievement of a Manufacturing Capital. The game then drops me on my homeworld to do as I wish. I am guessing that

It is more along the lines that you need to reboot anytime the system is currently using a file that has been updated. I'm not sure why it would happen every time you update. I had to do it on Beta 3, but that was the only one. You should be able to change the raceconfig.xml file and then start a new game and see the changes. (haven't actually done this yet.) I know you can edit a .raceconfig file and load it as a custom race and the chang
