I also agree with Annatar that I don't believe you have to forward the ports they say you do (with the exception of the person who initially hosts, who I believe needs to forward the one UDP port: 6073). But I sat for 2 hours trying last night, and even though I could connect to people and usually get into a lobby, only once did we get to the point of launching the game. When we did, one person instantly dropped, and even so, the game lagged like crazy. Could've been a bad connection to

ptalbot, did you try /nosound? If so, did it make the framerate drops go away? I have not tried yet. It's maddening because for me most of the time it's fine. It's just near endgame that it starts to go bad and erratic. And again, never happened in beta. I have an e6600 dual core with NVIDIA GF8800 GTS. WinXP SP3 w/2GB RAM. -HM
I'll add my two cents here, in the hope that even though I've mentioned it before, that eventually Gas Powered will read it. Game works fine for a while then eventually dips to really bad FPS. But after 20 secs or so it'll be fine for a while, then get bad again. I had the beta and this did not happen. I updated my sound drivers (it's the Realtek high definition audio codec driver). I have not yet tried /nosound, but considering the game works fine for a while with sound, it seems that
Right on everything. The online play barely works, in my opinion. It's tough to get an online game going, and when I did it was quite laggy. I had the game during the beta, and it was much smoother then. With luck they'll sort out a good deal of the multiplayer issues over the next few weeks, although with their choice of peer-to-peer technology as the basis for the MP, I still think there will be some problems with certain people trying to play online. -HM
You need to install Impulse to download the game: http://www.impulsedriven.com/ Once the game is installed, unlike Steam, you do not have to have Impulse running in order to play Demigod. You will need Impulse to install updates, however. You download it again as many times as you want to as many PCs as you want. You can archive the download and burn that to a DVD to be used for a reinstall. It is not an iso image; it uses their archive format. Ed
Well i've the same problem. So the idea was to bring the game to our DoTA Lan and see if ppl like it. But if you copy the game (Download only version) to another computer it needs to be activated. Is it save/allowed to use my own key to activate them?
Try using Impulse to archive the game, copy it to a DVD, make sure Impulse is on the other PCs, then unarchive/install the game from the DVD. My guess is if you do it
Still, while playing the game in single player, it'll be fine for the longest time, then simply drag to a crawl for a while for no good reason, then go back to normal. I've updated my sound drivers. Something is just different, since this never happened with the beta. It has nothing to do with the menus. -HM
Hi Melissa and Jenny, I appreciate you checking to see it was shipped. Since I haven't changed my address at all, and I've gotten my other stuff fine from you over the years (GalCiv2 expansions), let's give it another couple of days. I'll email you on Monday if it still isn't here, and post in here tomorrow or Saturday if it does show up. It probably will...I'm just jealous because a friend of mine who ordered after me got his yesterday! [e digicons]o_O[/e] Much t
I spoke too soon. Played a longer game in tournament mode and the game slowed down near the end of it. Definitely have no idea what the problem is. Although I do have a Realtek onboard chip as well. -HM
Still didn't get mine yet in Connecticut. Hrm. When were these shipped? Since I ordered back in April of last year (got the beta key in September), I'm surprised it isn't here yet. -HM
I updated my sound drivers which may have solved the issue. Have to play more to be sure. Am a bit surprised because I did update not so long ago, but it looks like Realtek is pushing out new drivers faster than I expect for on board audio support. EDIT: I also realized that I had the sound acceleration down a couple of notches via dxdiag from the last time I played FEAR 2 (it has a problem where sound is more pronounced in the left speaker unless I turn acceleration down). This proba
Still didn't get mine yet. In CT. Preordered in September. Hopefully tomorrow. -HM
I have the issue too, although the game recovers in a bit (then repeats). Have to try disabling sound and see what happens. But the game worked fine in beta, so this is just baffling. -HM
the_Monk, Thanks for your help. You did help me get the ports right with Sins (I use a Linux PC as my router, so it's all kinds of fun setting up forwarding rules), so once I again, I appreciate that. I'm not sure what posessed Stardock to come up with a method that requires a minimum of 20 ports to be forwarded. People have enough trouble with the one or two that's normally needed to host a typical RTS game in a slient/server situation. This is a million steps of madness abov
There is a difference between the_Monk's guide and what the default is in ImpulseReactorOptions.exe. the_Monk says that UDP ports 6073, and 6100-6200, all need to be forwarded to the PC running Demigod. The default in ImpulseReactorOptions.exe is 6112 to 6132 (no mention of whether that's TCP or UDP, but probably UDP). Which is correct? Regardless, in either case, that's a lot of ports to forward. -HM
Just let the game sit after the intro. It's getting hung up, but it will eventually get to the main menu. I agree that the framerate slowdowns are something to do with the game. Like I said earlier, this did not happen with the beta, but happens too regularly for me when I play the SP campaign. Something inexplicable just happens which causes the framerate to drop unexpectedly for a bit, then the game recovers, and then it's fine. And repeat. -HM
When it occurs does it every get better again, or does the framerate stay bad permanently? After 5-15 seconds the framerate goes back to normal for me. And it didn't happen at all in beta. -HM
Impulse and anything Impulse related is not running. No other main apps are running. Nothing about my PC setup is different since I last played the beta. There's something about the full version of the game that's clearly different than the beta. Tons of bugfixes, moficiations, and the entire single player component. Something in there is dragging down the framerate every so often. -HM
The last few games in SP tournament I played were fine. I've only played SP so far, but sometimes I'm logged in to my online account. Maybe some process in Demigod is querying the servers which is causing it to slow down? -HM
I rebooted it and it seemed ok for a bit, but then the periodic framerate slowness came back. It's as if some process kicks off for a small period of time, then goes away. Definitely strange. -HM
Most of the time it plays very smooth. But every so often, for anywhere for 5-20 seconds or so, the framerate drops a ton, then goes back to normal. This did not happen in the beta, and I'm running with the same settings. WinXP SP3, Intel E6600, 2 GB RAM, NVIDIA GF8800 GTS, driver version 182.05. -HM
Yep, I did this during the beta. -HM
It's actually on the new Impulse Anywhere, so I'm downloading it from there (nice fast connection at work) then going to try installing it when I get home tonight. And yes, I was a beta tester. -HM
This happens with many releases. Usually it's fewer stores than one thinks that break the date. I'm sure if I go down to my local Gamestop they will not be selling it (hell, I'll be lucky if they sell it on Tue. or Wed.). Be patient. Only a few more days. -HM
You can uninstall Impulse after installing Demigod, and Demigod will still work. So yes, if you install it for some friends, the incentive for them going to buy it afterwards is because it's the right thing to do. -HM
