Sorry if my wording wasn't clear. I didn't conquer the Thalans - just the Terrans. But it sounded like from the mission goal that I wasn't supposed to completely conquer the Terrans, which I did. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding the wording of the mission. -HM

Stardock has always done fine by me. Heck, I even think they made some of the original patches to GalCiv2 available to download even if you didn't register the game (probably to add the framerate throttle option, since they felt bad about some video cards heating up and crashing the game). -HM
Do you have the original GalCiv2? Dark Avatar (the version available directly from Stardock for $29.95) is an expansion pack and is only playable if you own the original GalCiv2. -HM

I am currently on mission 3 of the campaign, but admit to being perplexed as to the win goal in mission 2. I found at full size (not using Adobe Reader to shrink-to-fit) that it fit pretty well in a standard DVD case (and was too big for a slimline). Your mileage may vary. -HM

I would say that the new version of the manual has lost much of the character that the last one had (well, at least they're still continuing the running "This IS Ceti Alpha V!" joke, which has been in there since GalCiv I). I also noticed some omissions that were in the original GalCiv2 manual, like explaining the focus buttons on the planet screens. -HM

I have an email into support because my original serial worked fine (although when I put the game on a second PC last week, it did ask for the serial again). Not quite sure why the change, and if it's absolutely necessary that we do it. -HM

Cool. I printed it out, but it is a bit tiny on a regular sized piece of paper, and a bit tricky to read the small white type against the black background. I imagine the actual box insert is a lot better. But it would probably be too much to ask that you make this, along with the bound manual, available for us "expansion pack only" people to buy. I gather getting the manual is in the works though, so I can hope. -HM

This has been on my wanted/must have list for quite some time, but I recall reading about the expansion only being available as a download purchase online... The expansion itself is still only available on-line, but I guess at some point Stardock decided to release a boxed edition to stores that has both GalCiv2 and the expansion. I don't remember them saying that would be available way back when I preorder

If you've already ordered a download copy in the past, you can generally (if you didn't buy it with TGN tokens) order an activation-free disc for a small fee by contacting [email protected]. I ordered Dark Avatar (not GalCiv2 Gold) on-line and got the disc in the mail yesterday. Even though I installed and activated it on-line prior to receiving the disc, if I had used the DA expansion disc, would it have been activation fre
I think as long as you also store GalCiv2's and DA's sig.bin files with the archive, then put them back in their respective folders after you restore the archives, you should be fine. Although the sig.bin may in some way be tied to your hardware, so perhaps if you upgrade your PC, this won't work. kryo can probably give us the scoop. -HM
There was no warning that this game required being connected to the network. The game doesn't have to be connected to the network. As I implied, you can simply ask them to send you a disc if you prefer. Stardock Central doesn't even come into the equation if you don't have the internet to retrieve the game on-line. -HM
