Why don't these forums allow offsite linking? And why does it use flash to upload images?! Crazy!
Off site linking is often called "hot linking" and it is bad mojo to many people. Regarding the use of flash, it is a functionality thing that the forum designers decided to use - nothing more, nothing less. I would prefer that SD uses IPB personally but hey they are a software company so I guess they decided to create their own sys

OK. Call me anal but all the gradient silhouettes are driving me nuts. So I decided to make a full set avatar from the Elemental resources we currently have. Please note that Luckmann has added many more avatars to the collection. You can get them below. NOTE: most of these were created/cropped/edited by folks other than myself, so please give credit where credit is due Additional Note : T

I would love for the different planes and underground to be layered on top of each other and accessed via a tab system and the access points (where applicable ) to be aligned. Think a GIS system layout.

Most of those issues should be taken care of with a fully developed GUI and with the power of 64b computing they can all be layered on your screen. If you dont have a64b OS now, x-mas is coming...

Reply to Globe or map? in WOM Ideas

As far as I'm concerned as long as the distortions are kept to a minimum especially at the polls and one is allowed to change the orientation at will all will be good.

Nothing to do with the fact that you needed an uber machine running Vista (which I like before anyone objects) to get DX10 graphics, and the fact that the game was too short according to many people....
No doubt. Lots of good scapegoating going around. As I said in another thread on the BW site the piracy argument is a great safety net for execs. A win-w

It would be neat for it morph into a major power especially if you have one near your rear that you have been trading with for year

@ hiddenranbir - To me that was inherent with the faction idea. However we can break it down further. I think that the diplomacy system used in EU:R is far more robust however. What is the general opinion? @Lord Reliant - Thanks. Just trying to look at things systemically - a fault of mine. I'm curious why you chose Civ4 management and exploration system over say GalCiv2. Could you elaborate some? @Tamren - I remember reading that some time ago. A good read to be sure. <p

Well if there was ever a need to justify a 64b system for the game other then more graphics and an advanced econ system then this is surely a serious contender.

@FarAway Galciv - Most excellent points to address directly to be honest. I assumed they would already be accounted for in the system outlined. This assumption is based on my experience with Entrepreneur. However that was some time ago and we should never really assume anything.

@Zubaz - Good stuff. Believe it or not, I manually find all those links. I read dozens and dozens of news sites and journals every day as part of the prep for my job. The feeds are a thing to be sure however. On a side note you should the following domain to your distro list if you dont already have it. I find that gamepress is a great source of information on the industry.

After reading another thread about the econ system I started to think about all the systems that would be needed for the game. Consequently of the top of my head, for me I think complementing variants of the following subsystems should developed for the game. Alpha Centari's faction system Crusader Kings heir/lineage system Total War's Vices & Virtues & Traits system Silent Hunter3's avatar & crew progression system Capitalis

And after a big fight in a forest the new forest name is "Bob" forest" os something like that. Wouldn't it be awesome?
Yeah the TW system has such a system. It is very cool. The only problem is that you cant rename it. I do liek those things a lot. It shows polish and refinement.

I fully expect for there to be an active neutral/minor civ system in this title given all the work that went into doing such in GC2. Moreover it is simply a solid game enhancing element. A strong environmental AI system always rocks. I only hope that such minicivs have a historical memory, goals and objectives, as well as alliance and affinity systems built into them; nothing wose then braindead neutral sitting there like sheep.

I agree with the use of the MoM system. It made for interesting choices.
