I want this to be a swords & sandals type of combat game. Moreover I think that an off-set dependence every three levels of tech would work well.

Multimon is something I'm hoping for big time. A fully user customizable interface layout is what I want.

If an army twice its size routed it in less than five days (and armies can't retreat voluntarily for the first five days) then the smaller army would be destroyed. That was to prevent having to detach a large army to continiously chase down those annoying 1-2K armies that just refused to die.[/q

@Frogboy - Sign me up. I have been a SD customer since you started SD. Hell I vaguely remember you on Usenet talking about starting SD and preaching the goodness of OS2 as well as talking about some space game idea you had. Additionally I always pimp SD every chance I get on other forums; from gamer sites to business ones and beyond.

The position is purely illogical and simply untenable. I also disagree with the tacit support for "protection" methods that would make it acceptable to release unfinished games forever tied remote content.

I think McCracken76 & lwarmonger have the right idea based on what Frogboy posted which pretty much confirmed my argument. In short if you conquer them you may lose a special resource. Of course there is always a chance they could turn against you if you don’t let them grow strong but hey that is the fun right??? I truly hope a vassal system like the one in EU3 or better yet CK is implemented.

In my case I have a quad monitor system so never an issue. Nonetheless I don't see how a tab system or even a second map window on the main screen could be a great distracti

If I chose to trade with them they might grow into a enemy or an ally. If I attack them it could cost me a lot but I might gain something spec

That should not be an issue with current PC duel core processor capability - especially for those of us with 64b systems and multi quad cores.

Aright. I always assumed the emptiness was a purposeful decision since space is so vast vs a world with a living biosphere. Anyway I'll add the Civ4 explore and management system to the list.

I agree hence my suggestion on using a psychological system like the one used in Close Combat. I don’t think any other game has even come close to developing such a thing. So here we have Frogboy a noted AI programmer, and an opportunity to test his mettle at branching out with such skills. It is a daunting challenge in programming methinks...

[quote who="LDiCesare" reply="24" id="1933023"] I'm not against allowing people to micro. I'm against forcing them to. If you have to devise one unit per city to make the most out of their training/construction time, then you're forcing micro through bad interface. If you abstract training a little, then you can get the same effect without forcing to micro. You'll still have a lot of opportunity at micromanagement with Brad's system anyway, since some units will be trained, ot
