@McFungos - Don’t lock the system into its current incarnations. Simply look at the system for what it could be... For example, the initial traits do not have to be random. They could be selected as part of an avatar creation process. You could get them along with racial picks like in GC2. There could also be a multitude of triggers for acquiring new one or removing old ones based on action. There really does not have to be any random element to it if properly implemented, unl

@LR - Thanks! Also sorry for the typo the first time I typed the name. Night Edge is correct it is "Stars!". You should note it was later renamed "Stars! Supernova". It went into the freeware realm a several years ago when the update to the second version Supernova got canned. Anyway you can download the game from here . Under the version dropdown you can see the original. As it was updated the core elements that

Then again, undead hordes etc. would be the work of the channelers spells, not something built in a city. I don't see any harm in bulking out your forces a

If the AI could manage your towns, it should be the same AI that the computer uses to manage its towns (give or take some additional intelligence depending on your difficulty level chosen). If the management AI sucks, then it does for the computer opponents, which means there's an AI coding issue that needs to be addressed. In essence, we could help trouble-shoot the governor AI by pointing out i
Well if we were to quantify things I think a 100\1,000\10,000 to one (1) ratio for beasts going from uncommon to mythological, such as dragons would be a solid base line.
I think a dragons sheer physical size would prevent it from being a playable race...though in many fantasy settings dragons can take the form of other beings.
No doubt. A dragon city would be an entire mountain range and that would only be a small city at best.
Well to be more precise I dont want an army of all powerful dragons as you are right they would not be as special. Instead of Men and Fallen have each 6 factions, Men could have 6 and Fallen just 3 but these 3 be more variable/different. It would be more in-deth, allows for better storytelling, leting things more realistic (immersive) and less symmetric. Games tends to follow these symmetrical correlations a lot, would be likeable to change.
That is precisely why that
This is an area where I think Stardock's plan is already the right one.
Rome Total war worked a bit like this. Units got tired if you made them run too much and this would make them fight worse. Problem is the endless chases still applied, and no matter how tired troops got they always ran at a minimum speed. It makes sense when the remnants of units disband as a fighting force. Depending on thier loyalty to you they might dissapear or migrate back to friendly forces before rejoining your army.[/q
From what I have read I would like to see the Dragons be their own seperate faction that can be played, with their own campaign agendas.
Sadly enough I disagree with this idea. Call me pedantic but dragons as the natural power supreme beings in the game they should be very rare otherwise they will lose their intrinsic value and would simply nullify most if not all of the other units in the game unless they are all scaled up to matc
I also like the fact that SD is has chosen a highly restrictive monster unit approach. Mythical units should truly be rare and the really high-end ones very rare. I think in the end it will make the game far more enjoyable.
Cool. I was thinking of doing the same with the none medallion resources but I wanted to wait and see if the devs were already working on some.
I think the tactical combat one or one of the systems threads.
That kind of system works well for me and is in fact the system I guessed SD implemented already based on the scale they are talking about.
