What's funny is to see that if you try to search for a domain availability several times, a week later domain name isn't available anymore...what a surprise.. NOT ! :-/
For "key name" sites, there are usually squatters who actually register the names. For general name searches, some registrars, would reserve the name afte
I'd hate to have the strict "this nation is good for this, that nation is good for that" regimen. I point towards Europa Universalis II policy sliders as a GREAT example of how this works.
That is exactly what I had in mind.
@cervomix - I think some domain host is "tasting" the names (my bet go-daddy). As I said before it really pisses me off. I thought that practice was prohibited by ICANN.
Quoting Zubaz, reply 8I like that I can be a no-karma jerk on one site and a mega-karma hero on another. You would.
No doubt. Like I said he is trolling here. [e digicons]:troll:[/e]

I don't "need" an avatar, but I wouldn't mind throwing a banner on some forum accounts I have.
There is a thread for it and only two people have submitted something so far. I will make some after I see what assets Frogboy or his proxy is planning on sending me. I do not claim to be an artist however. In fact I claim zero artistic skill - please keep that in mind.
My very first game I played with on my tandy 16 was Champion's of Krynn. It was botchy and graphics were bad but I loved the game. I also still have eyes of the Beholder the box and the hintbook. Never wanted to get rid of it. It was way cool. I guess at 34 I am getting old
I remember that title. It had issues but was fun nonetheless. If EWoM does not take a DL approach in flavor I would like to see SD go after a license f
I like that background very much. It's very pleasing for my eyes. Yeah, I said the same thing above
Me too. I think it is the best skin of all the sites. I find it rather elegant. [e digicons]:seal:[/e]
@Scott - No doubt - email away. I figured any reply would be a 2:00AM kind of thing or outsourced.[e digicons]:wc:[/e] @Cervomix - I would prefer to wait for permission from SD before using the domain name to be honest, even if it is a lowly .info one. I would suggest for you pimp your work here in the interim. It is quite a good knockoff. I think the community will be please with it. Additionally I have no idea what Frogboy had in mind as far as what assets he plans to give us which

That includes resources, dedicated forums (even a couple of mod-specific forums for the biggest mods) plus players. Also, if anyone wants a little help I'm not too shabby at website creation myself.
Well then by all means check out the community I set up for just that - modding. The domain is <a href="http://mo
I have to say I firmly agree with this idea but have not fleshed it out in the subsystems thread since we are not that far along yet.
@Barry - Thanks. Also there is no thunder stealing happening. On the contrary the point of this thread as I stated is to determine what we consider the best gaming subsystems collectively. I also agree with your opinion about all this being pretty much academic but you never know. I like to look at it as a sort of moot court for game design effort. Moot courts are a great learning experiences and almost always provide a solid foundation for future endeavors.
I'd like to make some avatars for this, got a lot of experience with photoshop. I'll post them here as soon as I have time to do something, and Spartan can decide if he want's to put them in the main post
Cool. The more the merrier! That is the point of the thread after all. The real questions is if SD will put them in the download section on the official site.
Given the conditions Atari wanted for a MoM license the results for MoO are not unexpected.
@Barry -I can't say I have played the games you named. Additionally the list represents the collective wisdom on the people who contributed to it. If there are no arguments against the systems you listed I will add and replace accordingly.

I know the French terms only but with it wouldn't be very difficult to make a program that lets you change metals, furs and enamels (colors) or pick various furniture you want to put on your coat of arms. Still, it would be easier to have a library of these, which reference images (png, tga, jpg, whatever) and create your own coats using a dedicated program.
Yep. Tha
I would really dislike a "closed" system of experience. A level cap is just silly. Is there a moment we stop learning things? A decay system for experience would be interesting, but in the limits of initial training. If a unit does nothing (not defending, attacking etc..) it should lose some xp.
While I agree with the idea wholeheartedly in principle. From a general players practical view, such a system would force a heavy micro b
@Pigeon- The abundance part of your comment is not logical to me. I expect each item to only be in the world one time but I agree on the quality (I touched on that with the difficulty level comments I believe). To answer your question, a relic would be something left over from before the end of the first age and its armageddon. Whereas an artifact would be tied to a specific faction. To further elaborate the relics could be magic school specific or elemental in nature.
That exact functionality is, if memory serves, confirmed. Well, of course, your random relic mechanics isn't in, but it's in for normal items. You're even supposed to be able to upload your own icons/images to go with it, easily.
Yes, but not for this idea sadly enough...
I'm still waiting for Frogboy to respond to my email regarding the domain name. My email was very long, I think I put him to sleep. Anyway, it is not an issue of control from my perspective so I'm not looking at things from "us/them" perspective. So I don’t consider the effort and end product to be "mine", in my opinion it would be the communities. What it boils down to in my opinion is intent. For me working on this is a way to help the formation of a community, via a p
List updated. Please note I added a "related" section. The link in it is worthy of a read for sure. Additionally, I have found stories about EWoM on sites in over 30 languages! I would want to do the localization work for EWoM!!
