The problem with this game, is that what it had going for it was the fact that it had so many features, and what's going against it was how poorly each of those features were implemented. Now, if you take away features, you are not left with a better game, just a bland game with minimal half ass features. The more you take away, is just going to emphasize the failings in what's left, and then some more will have to be taken away, then you have wallpaper. <p

Notable locations will be spawned NEAR you when you increase your exploration level (but now remember, your opponents can access them too so don't do it if you're surrounded) Does this mean that things like the Darkling nest, those special locations that you have to research are still going to be spawning in another country's area for THIER use instead of YOURS? Please tell me I am ready this wrong.
I don't like this idea at all. There are many ideas that need polish in E:wom, if you start cutting them away just because they're "broken", what would you end up with?
This is so true. They've cut so much already.
I'm getting more and more cynical, but that's okay, because my standards won't be that high and I have a better chance at being pleasantly surprised!
This is the only game that after 3 major patches will actually have less content than when it was released.
Any 4x game, I play with as many factions as the game allows. I love playing Civ V with a total of 50 factions, major and minor. Very cool. I guess this game has a max of 11 and one minor(soon to be cut out). Thats what I play with.
Heard this a lot before E:WOM and during early beta. But it ended up so, so far from that. It is a great idea to stick to MoM, but it needs less mentioning and more doing. Hopefully with Derek on board we can see that.
This.
I'm going to wait until 1.3 is ready, I don't feel the need to add my input any more until then. But, I am hopeful that this becomes a game I play over and over and over again.
They've yet to make a WoM demo, I don't think Elemental is ready for prime time.
Robots who cast fireballs? Mages with laser guns? Dragons with rockets? I like it! Kind of Shadowrunish. Why won't anyone make a new, good Shadowrun? Ooh, a game set on Altar in between the times of Elemental and GalCiv could be a Sci-Fi/Fantasy hybrid!!!! MAKE THAT GAME!
Make minor faction like city-states in Civ 5, Jon! But you know...Elementaly. And Come on, can you at least tell us what type of game you are working on? Is it a 4X game? RPG? Is it Fantasy or Sci-Fi? Is it GalCiv 3 or Elemental 3? WHAT IS IT? WHAY DO YOU TEASE US SO!
I'm a little bipolar on Elemental. Some times I can't wait for FE and am super excited, and other times I just think of WoM and how crappy it was made and the excitement is greatly diminished. But, then I think about how so much of the problems in WoM were due to initially making the game super ambitious, without a plan, and all those features were made half ass because they didn't even know what was going in the final product and didn't have proper supervision.&nb
I got it in on time!
ideal for the third expansion would be Elemental meets Crusader Kings (with the dynamic family crests you guys were thinking about some time ago).
Oh god, PLEASE!!!!
Quoting Teslacrashed, reply 17I really like seeing that FE is going to be slightly less "civ" like, and more RPG-like. It really draws on the strengths of Elemental as a setting. I think the right mix would be 60% RPG elements, 40% Civ elements. Sounds like FE might be moving in that direction. This is the first bit of news that has shaken off a bit of my apathy regard FE. Now if we coul
In Genghis Khan on my SNES. You could start by playing in Mongolia, and once you united it, you would play as your united Mongolia in the Wide world that stretched from England to Japan. It was an awesome game mechanic. What the game really needs is to do what it does WELL. Even if it offers less than WoM, WoM did almost everything half-ass. So many details of the game where made barely playable with little interest in making any of it actually good.
Has anyone picked the spawn random guardian option and not been really disappointed in what showed up? I remember in one build I got a darkling shaman that could cast some spells and that was neat, but I think that was a bug...
Yea, the Pale Ones are good neighbors, they don't play loud music after 8pm and they never cut up the kids Nerf balls if they land in their yard.
Arco may not be completely doomed, he still has 3 forts and a pretty good sized army.
All of the OPs critisism is true about the interface, and admitted to by the devs, not sure why the hate on the OP so harshly.
Your big flaw was attacking me when you didn't have to. I took a bless strategy which makes me strong at the beginning of the game.
Hahaha, I caught your army Arco! Slaughtered. Infact out of my 10 losses I think I killed more than you through friendly fire...but I did kill over 150 of your little weaklings. You will soon regret starting an unprovoked war against me.
I'd have to play the game to notice, and I don't any more.
Yay! Now, if champions are harder to find, I am fine with that, but we really need a spouse option OR if we start with a male Sov, can Janusk be female?
