Boats have been removed. They were in the game for a long time, but due to the computer not being able to use them at all, and the maps having very little use for them, they were removed. The general philosophy since WoM release in regards to improve gameplay has been to remove any feature that would be difficult to fix. FE might have also followed the same philosophy, as I don't think it will contain a dynasty, minor factions, or boats. But that may or may not be

MnB: Warbands is ssuch a fantastic game, I wish there were a half dozen more games like it.
I think you guys at Stardock should polish the hell out of 1.4 WoM, rerelease it for those discount games sales at Wal-Mart and Target, add a FE demo to it with a discount for FE before FE is released. Or if not a full demo, maybe a trailer and discount.
I like campaigns that introduce me to gameplay mechanics, important characters, and give me a "feel" of the world I am playing in. But, I will play 0.01% of my gaming time in a campaign. I played a billion hours of GalCivII and only played the original campaign about 1/3rd the way through. The campaign wasn't too terrible. Just real buggy, and didn't a good job as a tutorial. But it did introduce characters, gave you a feel for the di
I've heard rumors that FE battles give you cancer...
The game play was already based on Civilization, so it looking more and more like it is a bit of a moot point. Nothing wrong with borrowing ideas to make your concept work. I personally don't care all that much about founding cities. I am perfectly happy with games where the cities are set in game. They tend to have better maps and more focused features. Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Brigandine, Mount & Blade: Warband, and th
Will all the stuff we were expected to get and did get for WoM, be coming for Fallen enchantress? this has probably been asked before, probably by me, and proabably answered...probably by Brad...but it's been a long time and can't remember. Are we getting the characters, map, a campaign, maybe even era specific kingdoms and rulers? Hmm? Hmm? Damn it, I liked the characters and the book and I want it. Also, can characters from the b
Book 2 is the next chapter coming out soon ,
[e digicons][/e] Sorry, this necro thread made me laugh when I read the first response and then looked at the date it was written.
Hmm, diminishing returns might make that a much more viable and interesting choice...yea, I like it.
Charisma needs to be more useful, and all stats need to be useful for all champions, both in combat and out.
I agree with everything except 1-A. I like it in concept, but what I hate is the building ques, and in WoM, I had to build 100 of any thing to get a noticeable result. And that would keep my city busy forever. I don't want to build the same thing over and over. I don't want to build something and feel that it barely helped. So if I have to build a lot of the same building, can we take out ques for it? I don't understand why it would take me
Add the Hecatonchires from Greek myth! There were three of them I think, and they were bad dudes.
I wish the Dynasty system was revamped instead of taken out. It was one of my favorite parts of WoM. But it was done so half-assed, that it did just turn into a champion farm. Would have been best if the children had more random abilities, instead of being parent clones, they should have a higher than normal probability to have the traits of their parents, but not exact clones. Also, having a better system of where the married children couples end up would help, like s
I understand that, this is mostly a STRATEGY game, and not a TACTICS game. But yea, I guess I did take those ideas for granted. I would guess that a "Healing spell" is in fact a counter to my "Mace to your Face" spell.
Wait wait wait. Brad. Seriously? You don't know how to implement an XML parser in C++? What?! Obviously Elemental is filled with XML parsing already. But it makes as much sense for me to set up new parsing abilities as it does for me to code new file handling code. Do you want me writing AI code or writing file reading code?
I want you to write me a love poem...
I am creating this thread so we can talk about the tactical battles in WoM. From Frogboy
Well you may want to wait until you've tasted said pie then. This is a discussion of AI. If you want to talk about tactical battles feel free to use the forums to do that. I won't be discussing how tactical battles work in general here, just how I'm going about writing AI.
Sorry I was talking about tactical battles, I m
Ponies?
You're right, I only know what existed in WoM, and that is what I was talking about. But feel free to tell us what FE will have. And like I said, I don't know anything about writing AI. I'm just a consumer. Like with a pie, I may not know what goes in a good pie, how to bake it, but I know when one taste like shit.
I admittedly know absolutely nothing about making video games other than the info provided to us on these forums by Stardock. I just think that writing rules on how the computer does things would be easier in a better defined and structured environment. I am a psychologist, so I am thinking about it as such, a behavior approach. The less rules the AI has to follow, the less realistic and abnormal their behavior. When you have a clear and defined structure in w
You know, we don't need Deep Blue level of AI skill in Tech battles, would just be fun if the AI used it's abilities and they did something other then pick one guy and chase the hell out of him. I think some basic tactical battle concepts would have helped WoM, like true ZoC meaning it's difficult to run around units, limited range on spells and bows, flanking, and meaningful terrain. It has to be hard to really write good AI without those basics in place, I would thin
I try to avoid EA games, the buyout of Bioware bothered me and I can see the effects it is having on their games. Dragon Age 2 feels like an EA game.
How about "Shit I ain't close enough to see"? Has a nice ring to it, I think.
Brad I really appreciate all the work you are still doing on this game. I hope that at the end of your work you will be able to take pride in this game. A lot of publishers/developers would have just left it and moved on. Your commitment to excellence is a virtue to look up to. That being said, I still think you are trying to polish a turd, but I will eat said figurative turd if WoM truly becomes a good game.
Warbands is awesome.
It's not really my job to sell you the game, I just stated my opinion. Is it worth it, yes.
