I hope Jon sees this thread. I think he got a lot of unnecessary negativity in the last thread. I am pretty sure Jon is responsible for some of the things I liked about Civ 5, like the hex map and one unit per tile limitation, and real ranged units. The bad things he often gets credit for seem more like stuff that gets pushed down from execs, publishers and producers. I'm sure Jon will have more freedom at Stardock and can't wait to see what he's capable of under their

I'd just like to share my 2 cents. One thing we know Shafer is personally responsible for is one of the best (IMO) changes to the Civ franchise since it began: Hex map with one unit per tile and real ranged units. I remember when they first announced it that they were saying the hex format and 1 unit per tile thing were the things he specifically wanted to bring to the table. To say that one guy is responsible for all of the bad things in a game is simply simple minded

I'll be more likely to buy Elemental expansions at full price though. Unless they just totally go insane with an expansion for Civ5, but I expect mediocre DLC :| At least you guys didn't pawn off factions like Babylon to retail stores though. :P

My stupid bank denied payment this morning due to fraud suspicion. I was at work and unable to accept the charges. Now I either have to wait for someone in impulse sales to look at my order, and maybe get my pre-order done again, or even worse I may have to buy it on another card for more money now. Either way, I can't play the game now :(

Best Buy and Walmart paid for additional content to be made (just like Random House did for the book). But in the case of the retailers, it was agreed that all content that was made for them would be able to be given out to all players within 90 days.[/quote] Thanks for explaining it. That seems fair.

Man I have to start a new job tomorrow morning at 6am after a 1hour drive which means I need to be up by 4am. It is going to take a lot of discipline to peel myself away to go to bed on time. I can't afford to be late!
