And that is why everybody wants to be able to remarry. They said in the beginning of the Beta that EVERYTHING would be a resource !
Its the ONLY true rts game on the market right now, everything else is a hybrid-genre failed experiment.
Euh... DoW2 ? I have SC2 and DoW2, I still prefer DoW2... But you're right, you can love more than one game. SC2 is not a bad game. Elemental for me is not a bad game (I prefer 4X so I'm biased and prefer E:WOM to SC2), but It's not perfect and there are many things I want to see improved.
The devs had said that children age faster than their parents, otherwise it would be WAY too long to get them into the game.
Yes, it's true. But would they allow Sovereign to die without a game over and children to take over, they wouldn't have to resort to such tricks. I very like the spirit of the thread ;-) - Killing the one you love because she hates you => bad reputation : Awesome idea. - Sacrificing your children for magic
After all, empire-building and warfare in the real world never had a random map...
Well, don't underestimate my lack of sense of orientation IRL. Going to work everyday is for me like a somewhat random process. It is seriously detrimental to my world conquest plans ;-)
I agree whit most that has been said here. It's definitely not MoM enhanced, Elemental has its own charm. And it's a good thing IMHO because I still have MoM on my computer, if I want to play Mom, I just have to start it. So far, despite its flaws (which are thing can all be fixed, especially since we have a really, really dedicated team), I had almost as much fun as on MoM. So like many other say, give it some time and it will be the fantasy game of the decade.
You an use the circular arrow icon above the stat block to randomize the appearance which will also pick gender. No need to jump in and out.
Thank you ! Didn't realize I wouldn't only change the name!
First point: Master of Magic went through something like three major patches- back before the internet was common, when you had to get a floppy disk or something. This is not new.
Thank you because this is so true ! If you read back at that time, people deemed MoM as unplayable, crippled with bugs. I remember how the game would crash every time I was summoning the 10th unit in tactical combat;-). Even now 1.31, there are some things that do not work. From
The more I play, the more I think we are so close to pure awesomeness. And so... ...I'am very angry at the press. I don't understand the bashing I saw in it, it can only be explained by sheer arrogance IMHO. Like writing a page of text was equivalent to years of work and an achievement like Elemental already is!!! I'am enjoying myself more than in SC2 (which is just shortcuts, big selection box, drag & drop on enemy base: win/loose => quit:rinse and repeat). I had almos
I tried Egalitarian for my custom faction. It's alright, I think it's random (or is it not ?). I would rather have the choice when I design a unit I guess. And remove the option altogether in the faction customisation. It's only cosmetic...
Interesting thread. I'm just about to finish my first game with the new 1.06 version. I had quite fun. In the late game phase however, I was really hoping for getting more from dynasties. - I had a daughter, but the husband of my sovereign died. - I kind of knew I couldn't remarry my sovereign. Was anti-RPG because there were no good candidates so I could live with that. - But you should be able to remarry. I know it is not simple to implement be
Another take is also Crusader Kings. Where you could have your empire ruined by the hand of your children having debilitating traits. It was great fun ! ;-) Allows possibly in MP one player to still have hope when someone has taken the lead. You could get revenge when is inept children have taken charge after the death of the sovereign. It also makes for dramatic moments. You will feel sorry for your sovereign ;-)
What was great in MoM Every sword gave you 30% chance of scoring a hit (2 layers : number of swords, hit rate). Every shield gave you 30% chance of deflecting a hit Only on that you could act with two manners : improve the percentage, or have more swords/shield. So, when you add 3 swords, what was better ? adding 10% (+1 to hit) or one more ? If you had a hero with 8 swords, it was definitey better to get a +1 to hit weapon or enchantment. <
Seriously though, go home, get some rest, I just end up dreaming about Elemental development anyways, so it makes no difference to me
Then we should have Frogboy's wife kick your ass into vacation. That said, thank you and the team for all that work! ;-) Although I posted Suggestions yesterday (which I still think as valid), I really enjoyed my game time yesterday. Still thinking there are balance issues, bu
Héhé ! She is right ! :-) Good vacation !
I don't have any as well (I didn't even do an ALT-TAB) :-(
Okay, I played the game for 3 hours and I found it enjoyable, but like many others, I would say it requires some patches. If I could propose ideas to make it even more fun... All those ideas are inspired by the game as it stands now which means that it is globally good! ECONOMY - It is good and refreshing to have something original and interesting. - Sometimes however, for Arcane I didn't get much more than 50% of 1 which makes very little research. (But maybe
Thank you guys! Keep up with the good work (but take some time to rest as well ! :-) )
Hello ! Just want to say: didn't read that 'incident' and won't care to do that, looks not like a big deal ! I played the Before day 0 version and I found it enjoyable! Not exempt of bugs, but what game hasn't at release ? It's easy to criticize, but few have done what you did! Even were it an epic failure, at least you tried. But the game looks great ! The release of your game is a moment of joy! Don't let anyone spoil it! You and the team worked hard f
Congratulations ! [e digicons]:D[/e]
Hi ! Sorry I couldn't get involved as I wanted to for the Beta, like reporting bugs etc (life bytes). But it was rather pleasant to follow the processs ;-). And in many ways, the ideas that were expressed in these forums were a lot better than mine, so it's all for the better !. Reading the lot of criticism (not trolling ;-) ) from Frogboy on the actual Beta (which I find quite enjoyable), I'm even more eager to see the release of the game. I live in Europe (Belgium), I pre-or
Very cool ! I begin to see how I will be able to make my sovereign's Black Company (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Black_Company) :-)
Welcome to all !
I still think I'm failing to communicate
No, you didn't fail :-). The purpose of the betas is to allow us to give you some feedback on what is implemented. It should help you to make a good game. If it becomes worrying to release beta versions to us, it becomes an hindrance. Nobody wants that. And if we can't see and understand the underlying mechanics, it has no point discussing them. It is also easier to come up with good ideas when you have so
For resources, I'd like to have quantities of resources instead of I control spot X so I can build X-based stuff at X*constant speed. (While I control spot X I gather that amount of said resource, which also allows to have different qualities of spots, some giving more than others which will create strategy objectives). Speed would be more dependant on how experienced are my workers and how good are my workshops. I said it in another thread, but I like recipes 1 fur -> 1 le
My choice goes for: Option C, with Elkoba's suggestion to be able to resupply. Why ? A: Would be fine, but if ressources are varied enough, it would maybe result in the need to create another unit template lacking that only one ressource. This was an issue I had with Galciv II ship design system (which was really awesome for the rest), I was constantly trying upgrading my ships, but the task was getting tedious and most of the time I was giving up integrating every las
