I'm not sure why I never checked this game out before. I just did and it's a good time. I need to read through more basic info soon - like some deeper info on the item system - but I've played a few bot matches and a 5 v. AI and it has been a blast. Thanks for the thread.

(aside) I did not get the chance to usurp the Mad Overlord back in the day. Sad. A good friend of mine did enjoy his adventure on a nice colorless Mac. I still remember his joy when wielding the dreaded Epee of Dismay... Anyhow, FadedC's comments about moving money around brought back a host of memories. The ability to (P)ool gold was definitely a nice bit of streamlining. Automap was a nice feature as well. I don't recall when I first had the pleas
I was digging through my CD pile and found this game. I recall not enjoying it much but I do not remember why. Does anyone here have an opinion either way? I am thinking about trying it out again...
Yeah the list is ridiculous. It is too big a scope to "narrow down" to a top 100... Where is A-Train? Populous? Syndicate? Where is Pools of Radiance or Curse of the Azure Bonds? Oblivion was fun but where is Daggerfall? Or Arena even!! 7th Guest? Alpha Centauri? Tales of the Unknown Volume I? Airborne Ranger? (AR may have been a pre-PC game...) World of Goo? Seriously? What about Machinarium? The injustice...
How about some Zak McCracken love...? That would be nice.
WoW will always have its haters and its lovers. I have gotten years of enjoyment out of it myself. The storylines are entertaining if you take the time to follow them. Blizzard injects a lot of humor into spots as well. I have been in a great guild of friends for the entire time and we have had as much enjoyment playing together as we have in Demigod or Sins or TF2, etc. The expaansions just keep getting more polished. Cataclysm moves the storylines along we
A little update to my journey: I have pleasantly found that in between turns the diplomacy between players is an entire game in it's own. Almost like playing out a novel. The amount of options you have to work with in the game means that you can find yourself with a wide array of material to work with. Very interesting. Also found it interesting that the developer put out a new patch today.. some 4 years after the game was released the com
I can't say that I have any computer games that I *need* to keep around... I have quite a few that I *have* kept around, but that's different. The main keepsake for me at this point is my 2600. I have it packed neatly away in a box down in the basement (off of the floor) along with a pair of Epyx 500xj joysticks and 54 games (along with the switch set-up I bought to run it on today's tv's). Who could part with something like that?
Icewind Dale is one of my all time favorite rpg's. (and I'm going back to Tales of the Unknown vol. One) It is more of an action rpg but still... It held my attention longer than Baldur's Gate... although I enjoyed that one as well. NWN is another classic. Played through the sp game twice and quite a few modules with friends. Oddly I never got into the xpacks. Very cool pickup for Impulse :)
Super, thanks! I need to dig through the mod folder a bit to see what else is available. One feature I already wish for is a pop-up info screen for my champions. Instead of right-clicking to get a window screen to come up..a hover would be nice. One of the people I took over for re-named all of his mages by their magic levels.. 1f2e1s and so on. It helps.
I don't think I have my settings maxxed.. I'll have to check. Watching my little sprite-warriors march/gallop/cast/shoot their way across the battlefield is entrancing though. I would imagine that it would take a bit to mod the game graphically. Tedious work I'd guess. Anytime I find myself poring through a manual looking up spell descriptions, paths of magic, items to forge, etc... it's a good thing.
Have very much enjoyed our little AI-stomp. I think the game is all but over at the moment and I definitely did not even scratch the surface of the game. Since we started I have gotten myself involved as a sub for three other games, each in a different phase of evolution. One is a newb-ish game on turn 36 now. Playing Atlantis in a decent position. Another is on turn 23 - Ermor. Not so good a spot there. Seems precarious as if the world co
The Bard's Tale? I first played it on my Commodore 64c. A friend of mine would get disks full of games from his uncle and we would just Load "$",8 our way through them. The Bard's Tale was one of those games and neither one of us had any clue what to do with it. I was only about 10 or 12 I believe. I think I asked him to get a copy of the spells as well... somehow I ended up with one. You needed a listing of the spells for this game as they were n
Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord? or Alternate Reality perhaps?
Ah well.. too far back I guess. The game is Herzog Zwei
I have found that already in SP a bit.. once I start to click too fast I shut it down for the night. I just meant that in MP you are not limited to a turn a night or anything.. but there is a time limit that everyone does need to take a turn in.
At the end of most of my turns I get a nice 10 second pause and then...another turn :) I think I tend to take a bit more time as I want to make sure I am not missing more than a newb should... but really you could just take turn after turn after turn through the night as fast as it takes every player to click end turn.
Super! I got on and completed my first turn last night.
Ok, I have joined the game. Do I need to just sit and leave it open?
another clue: I played this game on the Sega Master System.
one of the mods.. cm 1.6 or 1.7 I believe.. seems to work to decrease some of the micro. I haven't checked it out yet though
Well, I have not played many games yet but the thing that I really enjoy about the game so far is the thought I need to put into my turns. Micromanagement is a big part of the game and I think that should be known before jumping in. I think that if you want to queue up a bunch of units and run off to explore or battle you probably won't get as much from Dominions 3. Battles themselves are determined by the computer based on unit make-up, troop positioning and orders.&nb
Yeah, sounds good. I'll definitely join up. I'll check out the link when I get home from work :)
Nice. Did you print and go through the tutorial as well? They did a decent job with that - you get a lot of the basics of the game. lmk if you get into it. I think it will be fun MP as you can sit and play with your turn a bit before finalizing and sending.
I got turned down for not having a track record. Here's the link though: http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=46842
