Earlier than the PS, although I enjoyed Warzone a lot. Never played Uprising but the PS1 was during a time of financial drought (college). I do recall a very fun puzzle game though which I'll put up next.. The RTS was top-down and if i recall correctly you could not control any of the units.. only issue them orders and then release them to their task. The only thing you could actively control in this game was your ship/mech. You used it to fly around the board, d

Also one of the first RTS games out.
Very nice looking! I'm trolling the MP boards waiting for a newbie game to pop up so I can get my feet wet. Right now there is one posted but the OP wants players with less than 5 games but a proven history of not stalling... So I guess that means between 1 and 4 games played. I just got cleared on the boards so I'm going to see if he'll take a chance on me ;) If anyone that has Dom3 wants to get intop a MP game let me know. I'm still learning th
Moving my postings on this game here to keep my thoughts seperate... So last night I dove into the full game and had a much better run. I went with the fire people and cranked my pretenders fire magic up to 9. Although I forgot to look into the blessings... meant to do that. I scouted the nearby provinces and once I had a bit of a force built up.. and evocation 3... I headed out to war. I ended up taking over quite a few provinces.. built up my
Interesting... I was big into the PS around then. I'll think about it. Reminds me - nobody guessed the Cyber Empires-like game I alluded to earlier.. You did not buy mechs though but ships/tanks/etc.. and sent them out with very limited AI to attack the enemy base. The way that you gained resources was to build/buy human units that you could either send out from your base or drop them off.. either way they made their way to outposts on the board an
As far as the demo goes.. i don't know all of the races in the game so the ones you can play don't stand out to me. I think the options are the marvarni.. the one-eyed cave dwellers.. the ape-people.. and one other. Really like the scope of the game.
Nice! I found myself thinking over the different possibilities for a pretender today and realized that I did not know enough about them. I went on and read a teensy bit on the wiki which helped immensely. I see the benefit from choosing something other than an awake state initially (if not the overall strategy). I hadn't realized the overall creation process and left points to be spent, thinking they had some use later. Also didn't realize that magic level is a
Well, I blew through the tutorial which was fairly informative. You print off about 15 pages and just follow along the text. I thought I was done at that point but then I realized that you can actually play a small map with limited kingdom/race selection. So I jumped int othat last night and got my @ss handed to me. I think I know where I went wrong - mostly revolving around trying to rush to take over neighboring Independent territories. What I pla
Good job :) [e digicons]k1[/e] So have you played much MP Dominions? I enjoyed the demo and can definitely see the depth that the gem contains.
Heh :) Well, the story was actually one of planetary conquest. You worked your way through each of the provinces until you had conquered/defeated each of the other powers. One of the lighters mechs I can recall was named "Mercury" and the big-boy was "Titan".
Ok, I remembered the name :) Anyone else?
Hmmmm... that sounds familiar. Quite possibly true.
The game guessing game is a good one.. I'll put a new one up that I remember playing but I cannot recall the name.. I'm talking old-school here (not old-old-school yet: I have some very old games to throw out here as well). This is a game where you purchased different robots to send off to attack your enemies base. They were Battletech sized from light to heavy and you could take control of any of them that you wanted. The goal was essentially to dest
Sorry - Dominions3 - when I started my reply the Wesnoth comment wasn't there yet :) I have played Wesnoth a bit on the iPad. Enjoyable so far. I've read that the demo for Dom3 doesn't so the full game justice... but at least I'll know what graphical level I am getting into :)
That's it I believe! I guess I was wrong about it being an independent.. Although reading over the main page confirms again that the level of detail within the game is absurd. Also, I suppose what I meant by my DF comment was more in regards to the level of detail within the game. Anyone played much of this game? I'm dl the demo now to give it a try. **Yeah, I was way off in what I knew about this game. Still - the main page has a ver
Good games there.. but this one was not put out by a major publisher. From what I remember it was one guy heading up the project, or at least he was the main programmer.
Missed this post :( Anyhow - I play with some regularity on Blackwater Raiders. Vanguard of Norrath is the guild - a group of ex-hard-core raiders that still likes to play but doesn't have all of the time anymore. My main right now is Hamedo there. Give me a /w if you are still playing and get on. We keep a vent going for most 5-mans+
Looks good but that is not the one i am thinking of. That is available on Impulse as well I believe. This one is only from the developer from what I can remember.
This is a TB fantasy game that I first read about on these forums. The graphics are a bit dated but from what I remember the depth of the game was unrivaled. The main developer/programmer was putting out updates at a regular basis and between the number of races and options I remember thinking it was like a Dwarf Fortress type game. I'll check the posts on DF actually...I think that is where I read about it. Oh..I also recall that the download was right from the deve
I've looked at OD before. I may pick it up at some point. I'll wait until after I build my new system and add 7 to it though. I think I am going to grab SotS though. I'd forgotten about that game and I think it looks pretty sweet. We'll see
Last night I remembered that I had a 20% off code for Impulse that is only good until 1/1/11. I've got GalCivII, Sins, Demigod, Elemental... I like a good strategy game.. or an RPG... I was also thinking Sims3 for the kids. My daughter loves those types of games - I just never thought about Sims before. Wish the new tower defense game was out.. what was the name of that again? Dungeon Defenders or something? The TD/RPG hybrid. I'
I'll second Macinarium. I had it already but it also came with the Humble Bundle I picked up (great deal). The game pretty much just calms you and makes you happy. The music is great and relaxing. The story is entertaining. There was never a moment where I felt the puzzles were silly or non-sensical. The one moment I did not enjoy as much was... connect 4(?)... I can't remember the exact game but it just did not feel like it fi
I didn't see this listed anywhere and since we all seem to be on the same page when it comes to cool games and great deals.... I thought I'd post.
Some good suggestions here. I appreciate hearing about good books I have never read and I will be sure to look closer at most of these titles. I have a few others to offer up as suggestions. Not all fantasy based but as i am primarily a fantasy lover (Martin, Weiss and Hickman, Jordan (to an extent), Salvatore, Watt-Evans, Duncan) and I loved these books, I'll share: Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson. An story of two intertwined timelines. WWII an
Is Dominions 3 a good single player game or do most people play it for the MP? I am getting convinced to give it a try but I would be in it more for SP.
