Should old save games work with the new patch? If not, when the final version is released, will that be the case for future updates?
Without playing it, I still think every change in the notes are for the better. But there are also things missing. What's being done about city building? Has the trait system changed to allow for more transparency?
I was wondering the same thing. I'd also be interested in some other things, like the issue of timing where pop-ups all happen at the same time, or reloading a game causes the monsters to go first.

I think the system should stay as it is, as once you've amassed a stockpile, you now have a very good bargaining tool to use for diplomacy, assuming the others don't have the same stockpile. And diplomacy should be improved in Beta 2, which should cause us to re-evaluate this at that point.

Thanks for the heads up. It had been a while since nVidia released a new driver update.

Something like this would help Brad with his Kiting problems. I've found it strange you can move anywhere you want and still attack.

I'm hoping weapons generally get some balance and added flair. There are way too many poor/mediocre weapons. While there are some distinguishing traits between items (spear ignores defense, maul is heavily strength-based, daggers are fast), I've ended up with a slew of crappy weapons instead of a variety of good ones. I'd be surprised if this wasn't addressed, though, and other than some potential game mechanic changes, like allowing staves to use Intelligence, it should be an

You're certainly not alone in this sentiment. Strength in .77 is a bit too...strong. ;) I don't recall reading about whether other attributes will be used for bonuses in the future, but hopefully that's the case, especially with magical or dexterous items (bows, daggers, etc.). Not all battles are about who has the biggest muscles, eh?

The Kingdom Report is awesome, but shouldn't it be renamed to Victory Report? I expect Kingdom Report to report on my cities, have a summary of my units, etc. This only deals with winning the game (more like Ledger is called now). Now that the Govern button has been moved to the right, it seems like the remaining three buttons "Details", "Talk", and "Rename" should slide to the right a bit.

Regardless of the past, I'm looking forward to the next Beta, which sounds like next week. Brad's posts do a great job of giving us some info of what's coming as well as knowing what's up next. Getting ready to file another round of bugs/suggestions and seeing which of my bugs/suggestions I've already filed were taken into account. I'll find out soon! [e digicons]:D[/e]

I like the sentiment here. It could be easy for people to miss out on the latest patch if they didn't seek it out. Would it even be possible to put a notice within the game to notify people there's an update? Either upon double-clicking or on the main menu? That would also help pave the road for the future 1.0 release with patches after that.

Generally if you right-click while casting a spell you can exit casting. That didn't work? I still think spell casting should activate with a right-click and exiting the spell could be done with left-click, pressing Escape or through a UI icon.

I'd love to have a new version to see the improvements and also provide feedback. I'm a bit frustrated by the lack of acknowledgement of most issues, but I'm hopeful the next release notes will highlight that various concerns/issues were indeed cataloged and addressed. I keep scouring the forums for news on the next beta update, but nothing specific yet. :(

What about time travel, nuclear explosions, and steam punk? These, too, are in short supply and must be in the next patch!

Nice. It would take a lot of thought and balance to pull it off, but given enough time and resources (and maybe the modding community), that would be pretty cool. Basically making decisions that impact game play and add immersion. Seems like something that would help the campaign as well as the sandbox.

Hopefully they allocate a little time after each patch for at least one quick turn-around patch like .76 (or maybe .77). I was pretty shocked by .77's quick release, too, which was awesome but probably took a pretty big effort from the devs. Just speculating here, but I imagine that was the case. Then again, if this a labor of love for the guys, it might not be such a big burden.

Sure, I can see XML changes causing problems if they: *Leverage functions that don't exist in the current game *Expose an existing bug and make things worse. It would almost be interesting if they would release a "major" patch that includes gameplay changes, etc. and then plan a follow-up .xml-only patch that would address small things. Kinda like the tick-tock cylce Intel is using for their new processor releases.
